The game is pretty easy until world 7 and 8 which do get harder because they’re the final worlds so they should be harder. HOWEVER, I have beaten the game with no game overs without the warp whistle, which means I am factually good at the game. So you cannot say my first sentence is wrong.

You can easily get the first two whistles, one warp whistle will get you to world 2-4 and two whistles (play the second in world 2-4) will get you directly to worlds 5-7. You don't need to spend all day playing thru every stage in SMB3 at once unless you really want to.
