This is mental illness
>>731115234yet more proof that graphicfags are single digit IQ retards
Left is far better because you can see your surroundings more clearly, giving you better tactical advantage over any situation you might be in.
>>731115234funny because right is what witcher 2 and 3 looked like on max visuals for me on release
right looks better doe
>>731115234this is just like comparing 2000s cgi to current cgi in movies, they make everything really dark now so you can't make out how shit it is.
>>731115509>tactical advantage while talking to an NPC in a room that's supposed to be dimly lit by candlelightsure buddy
>>731115863>supposed to>barberThat shit should be fucking bright. You don't cut shit in the dark retard.
>>731115863Enjoy getting ambushed by that goblin hiding in the shadows
>>731115234>sacrifice 100 FPS to lower gammaGreat technology.
>>731115509Remove all lighting for a tactical advantage! Remove all textures for a tactical advantage!!
>>731116089Are you telling me you need more than this?!
>>731115234Semi related, watching some random streams one day and for damn near 15 minutes a streamer stopped the game fucking around with graphic settings. I swear I couldn't see a difference or notice what ever he was talking about. I don't even know what screen tearing is. This pursuit and fixation of hyper ultra mega realistic graphics is a cancer.
Old v>lmao look at this shitty lighting thats not dynamicNu v>REMOVE THIS DYNAMIC LIGHTING FOR A TACTICAL ADVANTAGE. I CAN'T SEE WITH LIGHTING JUST REMOVE IT FOR BAKED LIGHTING! WHAT ABOUT MY PREFORMANCE HUH!
Right definitely gives more of a mood. I can see how lots of people know can't help wince at the left with its total lack of shadows, how flat that floor texture looks, the walls being lit up and shiny for no reason
>>731116223FEAR has some dynamite lighting but its brought down a bit by stuff like that cloud of smoke that seems to be lighting itself and clipping through the wall, lot of games aiming for the stars in some graphical elements still do that shit
>>731116223Why can't we use the 2005 technology instead of le ebin real time lighting of -200 fps and AI resolution/frames
>>731115234It's harder to see on the right. Why would I play a game I can't see?
>>7311165232005 technology takes actual skill to implement. modern devs just hit the RTX button and call it a day.
>>731115234>raytracing = everything darker?
>>731116523because >>731116428particles lighting wasn't solved until Crysis 2 iirc in which the DX11 patch finally allowed particles to cast shadows.and alsoW3's room in the OP has windows, which will let sunlight pass through and light the room up during daytime.
>>731116523I think a lot of the reason you see graphical regression stems from an attitude of 'Well its been done already, so we won't get prestige or novelty for doing it, so we might as well not bother'
>>731115509HOLY-
>>731115234>I just need to have raytracing when Geriatic of Bitchia spouts some nonsense and grunts Do normalfags really?
>>731116578Lmao no, in most older engines (and in source 2) you literally just press a button, wait 10-30 min for the engine to generate pre-baked lighting for you and then your done.>INB4 "b-but muh wait time!"This is the one thing real time ray tracing is good for, instead of having to wait for 30 min the devs just needs a card that supports ray tracing and wait for a couple of sec for the scene to update instead. If the game doesn't have a fuckton of dynamic moving things in the scene there is literally no reason to do the lighting in real time which means that we CAN have the benefits of real time ray tracing in game dev with none of the downsides, hell, devs could probably even mix it, giving only dynamic items in the scene real time tracing while the static parts are pre-baked.The one downside would be game size as pre-baked lighting take up A LOT of space if you want it to be accurate but at that point you could just do what devs should have done decades ago (and actually did back in the 90s) and let people choose which parts of the game they want to download/install. Why would I ever want to wait 4 hours for the game to download high res textures if my graphics card isn't good enough to use it? Why would I ever want to download the german audio dub if I don't speak german? Why the FUCK would I ever want to download the pre-baked lighting if the game can generate it in half the time it would take to download anyway?

>>731117427How did RTX change the characters and architecture?
>>731115234reshade does the same shit
>>731115234which one is supposed to be better?
I played w3 with ray tracingit looked pretty goodI recommend buying a gpu released last gen and you too can experience it
>no effort made into making the lighting look good therefore all games looks shit without raytracing
>>731115234>sacrificing framerate for visuals
>>731117934>games made to run well on hardware released 16 years ago looked worse>wow
>>731115234>DOOD SO DARKthis reminds me of retards using shaders that just oversaturate the shit out of everything
>need a new powerplant to powered those graphic gimmick.
>>731115234Ray tracing in Witcher 3 is fucked half of the time because they didn't build the game with it in mind and were lazy with adding it in afterward. That's why most indoor areas are way too dark.
>>731115863>barber>in the darkhe's a fucking disguised assassin and you'd have figured that out if you werent retarded.

looks better in my game without RT
kys poorfags
>>731120843typical jeet youtube thumbnail
>>731117678That's DLAA, actually.
>>731116523because the devs are lazy and retarded
>>731117678it didn't, that's Vizima castle in witcher 1
>>731116523UE5 can't do dynamic lighting or physics but it's the designated pajeet slop engine so it's what everyone uses. Deleting UE5 from existence would save the industry.
>>731116523>>731120989the old method is shit you retards
>>731120843does peter really have that cake or is it modded?
Performance mode looks like ps3 tho, the game looks better than that maxed out at 120fps, why raytrace it down to cinematic ps4 30 fps.
>>731116523shut up goy, you have to buy the new hardware >>731121021is that why modern games look worse, play worse and struggle to run even on recent hardware?
>>731121107nah you're just a retard playing tendie slop
>>731120802NOOOOOOO YOU HAVE TO LOWER IT TO THE SHITTIEST SETTINGS IF YOU'RE PLAYING WITHOUT RTX
raytracing makes indoor areas in Witcher3 look good. outdoors? eh. Raytracing is a bigass hit to performance, though. game was never made for RT lighting. it's worse than cyberpunk's hit.
>>731115234>Bro these graphics are so fucking good, check it out!>Pitch black room you can't see any details inJust render the room with minimal baked lighting and static shadows and you get the same effect...
>>731121192they both look like shit, it's a shitty console slop that's not worth playing
RT does look good sometimes and graphics do matter
RTX cards are almost a decade old we don't have to keep pretending raytracing is bad.
>>731121192The RT in Spider-Man high performance is kino because it just renders the game world at 5FPS or so, like reflections in older games.
>>731121192Ray tracing should only be used for reflections and never for lighting or anything else.
>>731121138feel free to post a game released in the last 5 years that look, run and play better than FEAR
>>731121373fps sloppers are too retarded for real games. it's like giving cavier to pigs.
>>731121192Both are bullshit, I should be able to see INTO the window
>>731116523Yes the jews HOWEVER the other issue is that stencil lighting looks good in particular environments. Perseus Mandate's open street areas look like absolute shit. The lighting solution (and the rest of the graphics pipeline) should be optimized for the level design and that gets harder and harder the more developers try to design their levels like movie sets rather than videogames. Also doesn't help when you're taking a one size fits all approach to engines. Eg. UE has to have a lighting solution thats "good enough" for everything from rando indie games to AAAAAAA "we spent 5 trillion dollars on bush models" open world RPGs.
>>731115234it looks like the right for me in the original version
Bro I love every room being so dark you can't see everything! This is such a great trend in all modern Vidya! Thank you Nvidia!
>>731116523Because how else are we going to make people buy new GPUs?
