quality falls off pretty quickly. they used difficulty spikes to hide it

>>731126390Forgettable
Incredibly overstretched and flat out boring game that commited a shitload of game design mistakes that weren't present in the original HK, like trying to ape the worst resource management system known to a man directly from bloodborne and sekiro or introducing a bunch of terrible farming side quests gating the last third of the game behind them. With a story that feels like a bland Blasphemous ripoff.Easily one of the worst metroidvanias i've played in 2025 and by far the most overhyped one i've ever seen.
>>731126390this bug OWES me her ass in my mouth
It's a 1/10 game from 2016, but the entire video game industry has become so abysmal in the last decade, a 1/10 game from 2016 is like 9/10 in 2026.
she's pretty...
I liked it, but it isn't a game you'll want to fully replay because you have to do so many chores to unlock Act 3. I hope to fucking god they overhaul the requirements for Act 3 to make it quicker to unlock. My suggestion isn't even a nerf to the game. If you go to the Act 3 locations early, you'll be underpowered and it'll be significantly more difficult. All of the little quests you do to unlock Act 3 power you up.

>>731127841I don't dislike the game, but I agree with your sentiments, and would add that the early Souls boss-runbacks are fucking atrocious here. I really don't mind the difficulty or game length, but if they can't respect my time they can go fuck themselves.
I keep fucking forgetting to pick up the Wreath of Purity. I'm in Act 3 now and have been clearing out bosses and sidequests and it just keeps slipping my mind.

It filtered people too much for longevity in the mainstream.Case in point in Act 3 -which requires stuff like Groal being beaten which is already normie torture- you can return to GMS' boss room after escaping the Abyss and use the new move to rocket up a hole in the rooms ceiling to find a new secret area. This area is full of the small spiders she used to make the Weavers and after a platforming section no casual could complete you ascend to the surface discovering all of pharloom is a cave and at the top is "The Nameless Village" where a pillbug spirit talks about the villagers being seduced and called below. If the game were easier youtube would be flooded with said normies making theory videos about how this could imply that Pharloom is simply Hallownest thousands of years later and this town is Dirtmouth or some such horseshit about the weavers having to move again and again as they are tracked down. Which isn't true but we all know youtube theorists and if they could get to that area they would have spun that sort of shit like they always do. But they didn't because they couldn't get to Act 3 let alone find an area behind 4 secrets.
>>731126390Better than Hollow Knight. Best in its genre. Can't wait until the DLC takes it even further beyond.
I've played for about 30 hours now.I don't understand all the complaints about difficulty. Yes, you'll probably die on the bosses, sometimes you'll die 3 or 4 times, but unless you're not paying any attention, there's nothing that will really stop your progress. If you're completely stuck on a boss and can't move forward at all, and you already have a "prepared" character, then it's really more a matter of you not being able to play the game, and in that case, I don't see why you should complain. Imagine someone trying to play a flight simulator and complaining that they can't do it because they don't know how to fly a plane. What kind of retard makes that kind of complaint? So the game has some difficult parts, but it's basically like Mega Man where you try a few times and win, but even less punitive, because Mega Man will send you back to the beginning of the level if you die too many times, but in Silksong you have infinite lives.
>>731129271Karmelita was worth playing for. And then by that point once you've beaten her you might as well finish it out.

I read that there are several endings or something like that.Is it easy to tell which ending you got without reading guides or information about the game? Is there anything that clearly shows that you got the wrong ending and that there is more to do? Thank you.
>>731130229it's literally required to go there to get the mister mushroom ending, which 16% of people have.i dunno what anon's one about.
>>731129139It doesn't really say much of any of that.If anything all three of those can be rolled into successor groups continuing to use and twist the systems put in place by their predecessors with malicious or ignorant intent and screwing themselves over in the long run.>>731129910I'\m just going to throw out a wild guess and tell you to stop using the wanderer crest, because that also ended up being a drag on my enjoyment. The game will happily lead you into mainlining just one crest and not learning anything until it stops being enjoyable and you don't know why.
>>731130285doing the bad ending is mandatory to access the good ending, so don't worry about that.the secret worst ending is extremely missable and only accessible during a short window in one part of a quest that you might not even discover until it's too late to get. not a big deal though, it's more of an easter egg than anything.
>>731130128>and after a platforming section no casual could completeit's not even harder than the white palaceif normalfags could complete the path of pain then the surface ascent is easy-peasy>where a pillbug spirit talks about the villagers being seduced and called below.no such spirit exists up there

>>731126390-1 for bosses not dropping anything, not even currency, not even ammo most of the time.-1 for needing mapgenie after neutral end, and exploration not being rewarding in mid early game.8/10 combat is good.>>731129271The worst part of act 3 is unlocking it. It's not that long. But if you ain't feeling it no need to force yourself.
>>731126390It's my fav 2D action game so far, together with Cuphead. The skill ceiling is very high, you can play through the game over and over and still discover new strats. It has completely mindbroken the hype chasing casuals though.
>>731132185The worst part of Act 3 is the baptism, the gauntlet you have to do before you're let back into the Choral Chambers. It's Underworkers (worst faction of enemies) and they're ALL voided, and you're toolless at the time.
>>731132272Maybe you should try learning to play the game instead of spamming tools, just a suggestion though.
>>731132318Yes, take away my Weavelight and Injector Bands, make me slowly bind while the worst faction in the game reams wrenches up my ass, great fun.Did I also mention you start with 3 masks and you don't get more before that gauntlet unless you thought to quit and reload?
>>7311324194 masks, you start with 1 and get one bind (+3 masks). This part sucks on steel soul runs, but otherwise it's a whatever. Beat up 4 easy enemies while underpowered, who cares, you might die once, big deal.
>>731132535That's why I said it's the worst part, because you're so restricted and it feels engineered to end Steel Soul runs. The rest of Act 3 is fine, great even. Except Flea Dodge, how I loathe that minigame.
it was pretty good. i did everything except beat seth's scores in the flea games because fuck that
I dropped it very shortly after starting act 3. Not on purpose, though I do remember thinking "oh, more of this shit", I just turned it off and forgot to play it ever again. Guess I had my fun with it though. It has its moments but more than its share of entirely retarded decisions.
>>731126390I really enjoyed it. Was a bit hard but fun.
>>731126390i loved it... it has higher highs than hollow knight but also lower lows.. act3 pulled the overall rating down for me and the act3 final boss is just shit
The actual problem with this game is the story, or rather, Lace. Everything else goes from fine to great.
The third act retroactively poisons the rest of the game and it fucking sucks.
Dusty old bones full of green dust
Yesterday I quit the game at the final boss. I had already made several attempts and was starting to get the hang of it, but the whole game was such an unpleasant and abrasive experience that I asked myself if it was worth wasting another hour on it.Karmelita was amazing, though.
>>731126390I thought it was a lot less fun than Hollow Knight, and the music was worse.I literally can't remember a single track from Silksong.
>>731126390Was fun. Act 1 at launch was a nightmare and was fun seeing normies get filtered hard at points I knew they would flip their shit at.Act 2 is kino on the first blind playthrough, subsequent playthroughs you realize its a shit ton of bloat with many dead ends leading to useless shit.Act 3 is hot garbage.Maybe the dlc is Act 4 or something that adds onto Act 3. Hope its hard as fuck so we can continue pointing and laughing and malding normies.
>>731126390>NAOi liked it. its the game i played the most last year. now im waiting for the dlc update. mount fay, sands of karak and that surface village gauntlet made a man out of me. i had to put a bandaid on my thumb since i press down right at the joint and it hurt. act 1 > act 2 > act 3
I don't get all the act 3 hate, the boss fights are good and the atmosphere is great, now could they have spent even MORE years making completely unique voided move sets for each enemy, tweaking every single room to add void changes, and making a couple new areas? sure I guess, in some regards more = good, but at the same time let's be reasonable hereanother complaint I didn't really get, even early on was the economy or people saying you have to grind, like wtf did I somehow not play the same game as these people? and I'm the type of player with the "too good to use" syndrome so I just hoarded all the rosary items, never using them and yet I never ran into a situation where I felt like grinding felt like a "solution". Did I come across plenty of shops with items "out of reach"? sure, but again I just bought what I thought would be useful and made a note to come back afterwards, there's no need to purchase literally everything on a first visit
>>731132270the mind breaking of normal fags was another plus for me too
The more I played the less I liked it. That is normally a condition reserved for multiplayer games, not singleplayer ones.
Which game had the better spell build? Which do you like better? Are you an OG Shriek and DDark enjoyer, or do you prefer PALE NAILS and Cross Stitch cheese?
>>731127841One the one hand, you're right and it frustrates the hell out of me that the game is so arduous with its mechanics and resource grinds. It feels like the devs threw player comfort and convenience to the wayside so they could build their vision and make the exact game they wanted to, player experience be damned. On the other hand, I think it's stupid to look a gift horse in the mouth, and any minor inconveniences are drowned out by the sheer fact that we got a hugely successful indie game from a legit dev team that did everything right, and it's the complete opposite of the corporate DEI brainrot that's parasitized the whole industry. The game is a blessing. On the other other hand, it feels incredibly cliche to say that, and I don't want to give any stock to those morons who attempt to shut down any criticism (and there IS a LOT of valid crticism) with the "this game is too good to complain about!" shit.
>>731137994>I think it's stupid to look a gift horse in the mouth, and any minor inconveniences are drowned out by the sheer fact that we got a hugely successful indie game from a legit dev team that did everything rightWe get cool indie games every year, and i'd rather praise some jap making a passion project 15 years than 3 millionaires wasting 7 years on what's essentially a vanity project.
>>731138258>3 millionaires wasting 7 years on what's essentially a vanity project
>>731132270>The skill ceiling is very highhell yeah, man doing the speedrun + steel soul cheevo was so fucking fun, it took many attempts, a lot of which died pretty late but it was still fun to start over and try again and feeling myself get better and better each time, I remember having trouble with moorwing in my first playthrough and I was absolutely deleting him on my runs, widow is also such a fun fight, probably one of the best due to how aggressive you can be, the movement and combat are just that good, can't wait for the DLC to jump back into it again

>>731139005not to that shit e33 at least silksong has gameplay
>>731137391i just despise that they made a third lace fight the final boss how fucking retarded
>>731139113fair enough, I kind of hate lace as a character as well, fights 1 and 2 are real fun duels, and the 3rd one does build on top of it, but at the same time it doesn't really feel like "enough" to be the true final boss of the game
>>731126390Fantastic, game of the year.
>>731126390Really good.Act 3 is really really good, provided you didn't do literally everything in Act 2Why yes, that is the suboptimal way to play it.
>>731127330OH NO NO MO
>>731126390It's a game I really want to have fun playing, but the devs tried too hard to troll me at every moment of gameplay. They succeeded and it just pissed me off. I've done two different 100% runs of the game, and while the second run was way less tilting than the first, that remains my final verdict. I flip flop between a 7/10 and an 8/10 depending on how hard the game is trolling me at any given moment. Also: this game solidified my belief that difficulty-through-overly-gimmicky-bullshit is the worst possible way to make a game harder, but that seems to have been the core design philosophy behind all of Hornet's attacks and the Crest system in general.
>>731126390goodwaiting for dlc

>>731126390New favorite game of all time. Not perfect by any means, but it is the most engrossed I have felt playing a game and actually made me git gud in ways I didn't even think were possible for me. By the end the final boss wasn't even as hard as I was expecting it to be considering the discourse around it. But that's just my two cents, I fully understand other people being put off by it.
>>731143734funny! :D
>>731126390$20 for an objectively well polished game of this quality is a good deal, but I didn't really enjoy it nearly as much as Hollow Knight so it feels pretty disappointing after 7 years of people spamming "WHERE'S SILKSONG??" every chance they get. Might try replaying it some time to give it another chance.
>>731144470did it flop too, oh grand anon?

>>731144436When you're trying for the 90 second Seth record? Yeah it is. Around the 70 second mark the only way you can make it is by switching to pogo-ing off the fleas instead of dodging them.
>>731126390I didn't experience act 3, but I liked the rest a lot. I strongly disagree with gating act 3 behind finishing those stupid sidequests though.
>>731148649I personally don't understand the issue, considering it just seems like you unlock it by playing the game. It's only bad if you just beeline to the end and ignore any of the side content, but then I wonder why you play it at all if you don't want to engage with the world. Even the lamer sidequests like "gather 16 cloaks" are something that, if you just pick it up when it appears and you continue to play like normal, you'll eventually just get enough without issue, no need to grind or anything. I was wondering how I would have to unlock Act 3, but as I continued to tie up loose ends and go to the areas I hadn't been to yet, I ended up naturally encountering it, relatively hassle-free.
>>731149359>I wonder why you play it at all if you don't want to engage with the worldBecause I want to engage with a Hollow Knight game, not a "collect 10 bear hides" game. So I did the Hollow knight stuff, thoroughly exploring, and only a couple bulletin board quests. That's not what I'd call rushing the story, I'd call it avoiding tedium.
