Did you ever consider that maybe you just didn't like Zelda games, and you should've left them to Zelda fans instead of asking for a non-Zelda game?
I don't like botw but all my friends loved it, so in the end i must be wrong.
>>731142968Ocarina of time used to be pretty good back in the day. Now hardware can support expansive and innovative experiences like Breath of the wild, so it's impossible to go back to that outdated and archaic shit. Did you consider that.
Breath of the wild fucking sucks
Why does every zelda thread start with some faggot just being a doomer fuck.I have played zelda since a child in the 90s with the first one and BotW gave me the same sense of awe and adventure as the OG game did.TotK is such a fucking amazing game that I think it is probably one of, if not the best game ever created. A technical marvel. though of course only building on BotW,While I prefer linear dungeons like the OG games, I absolutely love that the dungeons are in the world and can be found at any point. though shame they cannot be completed without the help of the NPCs.I have thought of a way that they could keep the open nature of the 2 recent games while making linear dungeons and metroidvania aspects in the world but it is a serious design dilemma that I think is not worth going through. What they should do instead is have 2 teams working on smaller scale linear style games and 1 massive open air zelda so that the cycle has us having new games more often.

>>731143136hardware have supported botw for 20+ years, anon
>>731142968The groundwork for it to be a real Zelda game is all there it just feels like they zeroed in on the wrong stuff to focus on because it would be marketable than the classic Zelda formula. It's like if Bethesda made a LoZ game
>>731142968>>731143306>>731144005This thread was made by Eric. He's a snoy and massive Ocarina of Time fanboy that's been spamming /v/ with anti-Nintendo pedaling for a good decade. He's a weekly villain in Famitsu threads and he reports them over and over for calling him out or for spreading facts he thinks needs to be hidden from /v/ (namely sales of Nintendo hardware and software compared to PlayStation and Steam Deck). If you see posts saying GameCube games are better than Switch games, it's Eric. If you see posts saying Sonic CrossWorlds is better than MK World, it's Eric. If you see the same posts sucking Iwata's dick, it's Eric. If you see the same anti-Nintendo threads popping up over and over, it's Eric. If you see the same posts shilling piracy and emulators, it's Eric. If you see someone denying the existence of Eric and calling him a made-up boogeyman, it's Eric. If you see someone unironically using terms like "tendies" or "Switchfags" and making hyperbolic statements, it's Eric. If you see a red OP image with a Nintendo-related thing, asking some dumb open question, it's Eric. If you see the same repeated lines over and over again, it's Eric samefagging. If you see a massive wall of replies to one post, it's Eric samefagging himself, they'll all be a minute apart. He's always resetting his router and ban evading, and flooding the catalog, and he's got at least a few gigabytes of CP to end any thread that isn't going his way. He's also a massive GameCube fanboy that was so buckbroken by BOTW's commercial and critical success that he's determined to make it the most despised game in history, he wants to change the narrative and reverse the damage against him
Breath of the Wild is the point Nintendo gave up on being a trend-setter and decided to become a trend-chaser. Aonuma's borderline worship of open world sloppa like Skyrim shows the extreme loss of confidence Nintendo has gone through since about the WiiU era.
>>731144647I'm pretty sure the reason he reposts this thread all the time is because Nintendo didn't hire him for using Unreal Engine in any way he can and this is revenge.
>>731143423Good job talking like a human ad and not a real person. Thinking anything nu-zelda is a "technical marvel" means you never actually played a real videogame.>>731144647Good lord. You're alive? I thought you killed your family and then ACKed yourself, you annoying mentally ill tendie troon.
>>731144986Go fuck yourself, Eric.
>>731145727Not himBut go fuck yourself too
>>731142968I like Zelda games. I like LoZ, LttP, LA, BotW, TotK, EoW and some others. I don't give a fuck what OoToddlers think the series should be.
Y'know I recently replayed both BotW and TotK. It was fun revisiting them and I honestly think both are good. However, I honestly can't see why some people think BotW is an untouchable paragon while TotK is some shitty peon. "My favorite Zelda game of all timeZ BotW!!! Totk is bottom 2!!!" BotW feels pretty plain and one-note by comparison. There's really no reason to fight enemies for mats, the game lacks variety across the entire spectrum (regular enemies, bosses, dungeons), and the ending is pretty damn underwhelming. Is it because people have only played these games once through? TotK is far more fun on a revisit. Better bosses, better quest, better music, more enemies to fuck around with and a far, FAR better ending. "But muh bloat", no you can still finish the game whenever you want so that's really a non-issue if you aren't a completionist autist. I guess you could say the story and Champions powers were worse (which you can turn on and off) but eh.
>>731146836This. They're the exact same game but it's just different content but the formula is SO similar in both games that anyone should be ashamed of ever saying that WW or TP "just redid the formula".At least Wind Waker was a completely new engine with new interpretations of combat and the whole wind mechanic. At least TP was only superficially "like Ocarina of Time" but actually completely its own thing with more moveset-oriented combat and cool dungeon ideas. The biggest difference to TotK and BotW is that TotK has 3 open worlds instead of 1 and the dungeons have actual boss concepts and not just 4 different versions of "Ganon".
>>731144005There is not that much groundwork done for a real Zelda game, if they "focused" on the right stuff, then they would just end up with Skyward Sword again, because BotW is just a decompressed SS, except with less Aonuma handholding for dungeon design and some more experience under their belt (definitely a good thing, since you can actually skip through dialogue now instead of waiting 10 seconds for each text box to finish displaying).>>731146836Without any of the bloat you need to come to terms with the fact that both Skyward Sword and then Breath of the Wild both completely drained enthusiasm for Tears of the Kingdom. It's just "This game again" for the third time, and if BotW has no replay value, then TotK inherits whatever negative replay value BotW had, since it can very easily feel like just a NG+ master quest.
I like all Zelda games but I can recognize faults with the OoT-SS era and the BotW-TotK era. WW, TP, and SS kept on trying to make main story more “cinematic” with constant cutscenes and linear handholding, where things are constantly gated and don’t open up until later. Skyward Sword became the biggest offender, which actually got addressed in the Switch version. ALBW was when they first experimented with going a more open approach and it worked well. BotW took it farther and what I always loved about it was it had multiple towns and shitton of NPCs. OoT was my favorite cause of the different racial towns. I actually 100%’d BotW to the point of opening every possible treasure chest. TotK, while I enjoyed it, felt like it needed to “one-up” BotW instead of just doing its original “DLC” focus. So you have a larger game but it’s the same. Combined with how long game development takes, it’s just an excruciating wait. Recently, I actually extremely enjoyed 100%ing Echoes of Wisdom because it wasn’t a super large game. Very manageable time for a playthrough. Now I’m going back and playing with randomizers for OoT/MM/WW/TP. Archipelago stuff.I worry about Nintendo’s next Zelda having to “one-up” TotK and it’s just bigger in Hyrule again. TotK’s systems are really cool, but I wish they could scale things down. So I’m curious what Monolith Soft’s Zelda project is gonna be like. They’ve never removed their recruitment add that’s been there for like 6 years.
>>731147504>Top2 good games>Bottom2 great gamesAlso you can shift both timeframes so that you have the same games in the top window and ABLW and EoW in the bottom window at which point it's not even close. You're just a fag.
Most people like both old and new Zelda games. Only hormonally imbalanced losers keep crying like this on the internet for years now.
>2 different 3 hour long videos on YT>one screeching for 3 hours why Totk is a terrible not fun game despite putting 300 hours into it.>the other droning on for 3 hours on why TotK is good overall despite annoyances over the course of three playthroughs.Do Mario, Metroid and Pokemon have all these autistic video essays? What makes Zelda so synonymous with these
>>731147674Congrats, you didn’t read my post at all.
>>731149610Correct. I looked at the image first and it was very stupid so I commented on its content. 1st rule here is never post an image that's more interesting and attention grabbing than your body of text if you want people to actually read your post.
>>731149783That sounds like a skill issue.
That is an outdated image
>>731142968zelda 1 was open world. cope, disgusting faggot
>>731142968No.
A decade later and /v/ is still shitting blood.Even funnier that TotK and BotW Switch 2 Editions were the highest rated games of 2025.These masterpieces are GOATED.
I like BOTW and TOTK, but I think one of the most disingenuous comparisons for them are trying to make them seem like a return to form for Zelda 1, which just isn't true. You're still item gated and progression gated in Zelda 1. If anything every game prior to BOTW is more closely related to Zelda 1 than BOTW and TOTK.
Macaco meltdown
>>731153609>You're still item gated and progression gated in Zelda 1.That happens in BotW and TotK too you absolute fucking low IQ retard. You can't enter any of the Divine Beasts until conditions are met.
>>731154901You can bum rush Ganon at any time. You are too dumb to live, please kill yourself.
>>731155403>You can bum rush Ganon at any timeIf you're really skilled and played hundreds of hours practicing yes. Nobody did that on their first playthrough lying cunt. Please shit your diaper for another decade.
>>731144823I like BotW and TotK but they don't even rip off Skyrim correctly. It would be kino if there were dozens of mini dungeons scattered around the world with unique themes but instead we get a bunch of generic sci-fi rooms with physics puzzles.
