Honest thoughts on Resident Evil 3: Nemesis?
>>
>>731149936
I liked it. RE2 is still the best experience though. RE3's map and puzzles is just kind of meh to me. RE3 is probably the best for no death runs though just because it gives you tons of ammo to kill enemies.
>>
>>731149936
It's the first one I played, therefore it's the best classic RE.
>>
>>731149936
One of the best survival horror games ever made, and the last GREAT classic style RE.
Also has the first, and the best MERCENARIES game mode.

It's not a good spot to start with, that much is for sure. It quite literally assumes that you've beaten the classic RE1 and 2 a million times, and thus tries to challenge you.
>>
>>731149936
I couldn't play original RE games as a kid because the music creeped me the fuck out. It was also the static camera angles which greatly reduced your visibility in some instances, leaving you only with sound effects of zombies shuffling around off screen.
Played RE2 not so long ago as I'd been meaning to do so for a long time. Also played RE2R on release and I gotta say RE2 felt levels more oppressive than RE2R. It's the music, man. Yet to play RE3.

Zero should be D
7 and 8 should be C
RE1R should be S+
RE4 should be A
RE3 and RE2R should be B
>>
>>731149936
very good game, a worthy end to the ps1 trilogy

>>731150939
3 doesn't deserve to be in the same tier as the remake
>>
>>731149936
RE2 is my favorite of the originals but 3 is also very solid.

I don't know. It wasn't that great compared to the prequels. Carlos wasn't a great character, Nemesis' voice was annoying. Jill was nice but it felt shorter with less lore.
>>
>>731151662
why do you think REmake deserves to be 2 tiers higher than the original?
>>
>>731151906
the originals still good but i just think REmake looks better, feels better and all that lisa trevor stuff they added was creepy and cool as fuck
>>
>>731152207
yeah I agree with you
I think it's because I also really like the original
one thing I like in the remake is that they made it less linear, it's the kind of thing you don't expect in a remake
>>
>>731149936
I liked it better than 1 and 2
>>
>>731149936
I like it better than RE2. It's easily my favorite classic RE. Fuck Capcom for ruining the remake.
>>
>>731149936
I don't like it as much as I used to, and it used to be my favorite of the three. Now that's RE2.
A lot of 3's ideas just seem gimmicky in retrospect. You can hoard gunpowders to just streamroll over the late game (and frankly same for most RE games that feature ammo crafting) and too much of the challenge is skippable with really negligible penalty. The puzzles were mostly good, some of them above par for RE puzzles.

>>
>>731149936
playing it with biorand mod brought out some issues it has with enemy design
hunters have gratuitous i-frames & special aim clauses so when a hunter gamma (frogger) slides to due their ult you need to aim down, same for hunter alpha side slide (gammas dont do this move I think)
drain deimos are invulnerable when splaying at their back which should be more vulnerable if anything
dog have 2 staggers, one when they are downed which they just stay in place & when not downed where they are scripted to be flung when knifed
main thrower which is supposed to be the special weapon is just shit & even properly coded (reloading in particular)

but there some cool details which you only notice playing a randomizer cuz the guns are OP, like how knifing at a foot or frosting a hunter makes them limp, & how hunter frogs can ult you then another frog can swallow you so it doesnt need to be the same frog ulting & swallowing

evasion also is just busted, too bad I'll give you stars patch is only for the ps1 cuz it makes evasion freeze time so it's always a good to do

>>
Resident Evil 3: NEMESHIT
>>
>>731149936
It felt more like a standalone DLC than anything. Very arcade-y and fast, with shitloads more enemies and more combat and the goofy 'action dodge' system. If it wasn't the last of the PS1-era RE games, I would've guessed it was mostly a R&D project for Capcom to design and test ideas for a future RE game.
>>
>>731149936
Its cool how it takes place before and after re2. Ties up the RC arc nicely
>>
>>731149936
It's easily the best 5th gen RE game, RE1 was an unplayable dumpsterfire due to extreme lack of ammunition and timed segment bullshit.
>>
>>731150939
Cringiest tierlist I've seen on this site in a good year
>>
>>731156581
Code veronica is the actual resident evil 3, re3 is a shitty side project
>>
>>731156892
RE's plot has never made sense, anon. In RE1, you had zombie dogs (and probably hunters) killing hikers and campers in the woods all around Raccoon City. That right there means the zombie apocalypse is about to start because the dogs can run forever in any direction, bite some guy, and infect a different city.

I'm hard pressed to think of a major franchise with a plot that makes less sense than Resident Evil's. Maybe Kingdom Hearts.
>>
It’s a lazy asset flip saved by having the genius idea of a super monster that chases you.
>>
>>731157016
>RE1 was an unplayable dumpsterfire due to extreme lack of ammunition and timed segment bullshit.
Seriously, goyim?
>>
I didn't like Nemesis as a follower, but I admit he and his music made my asshole pucker up like a teenager under a mistletoe.
1>2>3. But it's still a more fun game than anything that came after it.
>>
>>731152362
Less linear? We're talking about the 2002 remake of Resident Evil 1, correct? The one that makes everything MORE linear? Or is the PS4 version I've played different than the GC version, and somehow the GC version is open world?

I'm picturing RE3 remake in the "good" timeline.

>Has all the stuff from the original+more
>City section alone is 7 hours long
>Freeroaming Nemesis for 90% of that time
>On Inferno mode he can hide in save rooms and even destroy certain ones
>When Jill reaches the RPD there's also one of the Mr. Xs inside
>At a certain point in the game you are being pursued by Mr. X, Nemesis and the giant worm all at the same time
>>
>>731149936
second best RE after the original
>>
>>731157652
I haven't played any of the remakes, so I can't comment on that. I just didn't like him for some reason. But my ass is clenching a bit even now as I listen to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KqffiEc3zk so they definitely did a good job with him.
>>
>>731157718
I don't think it's productive to be so consumed in the What-ifs. The game came out 6 years ago. It'll never be anything else so it's prudent to enjoy it on its own terms or ignore it.
>>
>>731157643
yes, specifically the second visit of the mansion which was considerably more linear in the original
the start of the game is less open, but gets as open as the original after you get the keys, but with now the masks instead of the crests

>>
>>731149936
gameplay wise its.... okay. its not as fun to explore as RE2, and the tank controls really didnt help while i was constantly being pursued by nemesis.

despite that, its really neat on paper, and did an amazing job keeping me on edge.

>>
>>731158285
>can see that there isn't anything in the chamber
is she stupid?
>>
People hated it at launch, but over the years its easily overtaken RE2 as the best of the OG
>>
>>731158673
I think people are just, in general, bad at games. Case in point, I'm watching the current GameGrumps playthrough of OG RE2 and it's gone so poorly that he's now using save states to avoid getting BTFO again and again. But the other thing I've observed is he's absolutely not checking random things in the background for ammo/items and otherwise isn't interacting with anything unless it's a visible 3D model or has the 'key item' sparkle.

Normalfags absolutely play like that and would find games like the OG RE1 and RE2 almost inscrutable.
>>
>>731156581
It was pretty cool storytelling that as the game went on Jill started to dodge even in the cutscenes.

I'm still not entirely sure how she managed to push Nemesis off the bridge though when he's like almost double her height and presumably 400 pounds minimum. Even if she's in really good shape it's kind of hard to shove somebody that hard when they are three times heavier than you.
>>
>>731149936
the original was probably one of my favorites. my only major complaint is that even for an early RE game there is a lot of fighting. you generally either fight or run in an area, instead of having places that let you take out one or two to make the room more manageable.
>>
>>731159706
I always thought it was goofy how there weren't giant, mutant rats and crows because they're the ones who spread the virus in the first and second game. Although, honestly, I'm thankful for it, given how dogshit RE0's 'what if a bunch of insects got really big and mean' theme was.

>>731159776
Oh, is there some hyper-autistic Japanese writer at Square-Enix who has documented everything in the universe, like Tolkien and all of the LotR appendices?

>>731159842

You are on crystal meth to believe this.
>>
>>731160084
>Oh, is there some hyper-autistic Japanese writer at Square-Enix who has documented everything in the universe, like Tolkien and all of the LotR appendices?
Yes, that's Nomura and the appendices are the portable games and interviews/Ultimanias

He checks lockers sometimes, but that’s it. It’s odd because he’s old enough to have played the original games when they came out.

I remember how hating the lack of unique bosses. Nemesis being 90% of them got boring quick.
>>
>>731149936
My favorite classic RE. I love the opening and the introduction of the UBCS, love that military outfit and the logo, exploring the city was fun and that's why I love Outbreak because it let me explore even more. It's a shame I can't play a whole campaign as Carlos

>>
I was so terrified of Nemesis as a kid I never got past the RPD section. I would turn the console off when he appeared
>>
>>731149936
i played it for 15 minutes, tried the new dodge function expecting it to be like DC2. find out the dodge doesn't make you invul which is fine, except that the direction is random so 2/4 of the options gets you hit regardless even if you time it right if next to a wall and 1/4 of the options means if you counter attack after a dodge you can be punished...this is all dictated by RNG.

i don't play games with bad mechanics.
>>
Horribly boring game, not scary or entertaining a single second.
>>
>>731149936
Pretty good game, much better than RE2. Ignore the zoomers saying otherwise.

Yes, I still appreciate that little bit of attention to detail.

>how she pushed Nemesis off
It's just the same kind of hand wave nonsense as to why the Dead Factory not only exists, but is accessible through the public park via a rickety wooden suspension bridge like something out of Indiana Jones.

>>731160258
I know part of the appeal of the channel is 'lol, he's bad at games,' but shit like refusing to even put two and two together about 'blood pool expands under zombie, which means zombie is dead/dead' piss me off. And it's even funnier to me because I replayed all the old games recently and if you check everywhere, you finish the game with about 5x the ammo you'd need to kill everything

>>731160260
I think it's literally just Nemesis and the Grave Digger (giant worm in the cemetery) as the game's only bosses, although Nemmy has three different forms.

>>731161054
That anon's 100% right. The RE3 remake is complete shit that's only good because of the tentacle rape scene with the bugs at the power plant.
>>
>>731161281
Especially 2, which is the easiest in the series.
>>
I think its cool if you bought the PS3 versions of RE 1-3 you get the PS5 version for free.

Big "Sony Dub" as the kids say.
>>
>>731161320
>The RE3 remake is complete shit that's only good because of the tentacle rape scene with the bugs at the power plant.
He's not right because he's saying that the game isn't awful, just meh. The game is shit and it's not okay to say that it's okay, meh or fine"
>>
Has there ever been a helicopter in RE history that appeared outside of the finale of the game but didn't end up getting shot down?

Agreed. It's one of the worst pieces of shit that released that year. Bug deepthroat doesn't make up for all the flaws.

it controls the best out of any of the classic style RE games. nemesis, the randomized enemy encounters, and branching paths give it a lot of replay value where every playthrough can be wildly different. despite all that i still prefer 1, 2, and REmake.
>>
>>731161587
Oh, forgive me. You're right to bully him for that brainlet opinion.

RE3 is offensively bland to the point I won't do anything but jerk it to the monster porn of Jill getting set upon by different monsters

>>731161654
The enemy heli at the start of RECV that shoots at Claire doesn't get blown up, but it only appears in CG. And maybe the helicopter Nicolai attacks you with in OG RE3 at the end of the game, if you don't realize you can shoot it down yourself. (If you wait long enough, he just flies off.)
