Some .1%-1% of people who have ever subbed to WoW are subbed. Does this mean there's a fundamental problem with it? Are themeparks doomed to raid-logging?
>>
Just play Mortal Online 2, it's literally your dream game

>Are themeparks doomed to raid-logging?
If they outdated ilvl any faster, people would probably get fatigue. I can't imagine people wanting to level and re-up max level grinds any more than they already do.

wow do unctroons think mmorpgs are for erping and "socializing"?
mmorpgs are first and foremost meant to be long-term rpgs that could be played for many years while receiving updates
>>
>>731166910
MMOs are about gameplay and economy. Leveling, linear ilvl pushing, and timegating all need to be replaced.
>>
>>731167462
MMOs are explicitly for chatting with your bros while doing some mindless grinding or walking around the world

People rarely do that. The games need to be designed for this.

>want to play rpg
>don't want to play a game where every system in the game is in service to combat or is a mere cosmetic.

Kingdoms of Amalur? Skyrim?
>>
>>731168813
I bounced off of Amalur, and I've got hundreds of hours in Skyrim.
Maybe I'll give Amalur another try, I never refunded it.
>>
>>731166681
The game is 22 years old at this point.

Play Lord of the Rings: Return of the King for some of the best combat. Spiderman 2. Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.
>>
>>731169295
They can still obviously do almost, if not, anything with the engine. All they have to do to make it a sandbox is require materials for repairs. I would also take full gear trading and no leveling.
>>
>>731169295
that's not the issue, the main issue with World of Warcraft is that the questing (which is like 90% of the content) is utterly boring, even when u read the quest texts for lore reasons.

and yet when I play FF14 though, I don't get bored of questing. That's why many people I know have left to ff14.

Basically, according to people I know:
WoW = Boring
FF14 = Entertaining

If Blizzard wants to keep people playin they need to make questing more entertaining, both in retail and classic

Literal retard, stop making this thread, you don't even have the critical thinking skills of a high schooler, why do you think you're equipped to discuss this earnestly?

WoW lost subs for a decade and has garbage stats.

FFXIV is approximately the only other MMO, and it probably has fewer subs than WoW.

We've only had 1 A+ sandbox MMO in the last 20 years.

What else do you need?
>>
>>731170354
I forgot to mention New World.

All of these are themeparks games and can't pull .5% of the PC gaming demographic (1.5B).

>Has abilities now.

Maybe.

How much does skill progression affect stats?
>>
>>731170354
>WoW lost subs for a decade and has garbage stats.
>Loses 70% of trial players before lvl 10.
>Loses another 50% before lvl 25.
>Average max levels per account is approximately 1, out of 13 classes.
>>
I really don't think themeparks can ever have enough to make them objectively really good. AI maybe has some promise, or maybe they could have a content team always making content, but >>731166873.

it turned into kidslop

it’s past wokeslop, the writing and characterization is so bad an sanitized, only children would enjoy it now without the nostalgia factor keeping 30-something’s attached to it

I actually enjoyed New World before the healer nerf. It was great stacking circles with the staff in pvp
>>
>>731174923
i actually did try out retail wow recently, as my only experience with wow was turtle
it sucked so hard. i was trying to bear tank dungeons to level and was being given cookie cutter tier sets and everyone was speedrunning, dungeons required like 0 skill
the flying mounts with dragonflight flying broke the entire world and i quit in a couple weeks
then i asked people ingame what they thought about wow and they were all treating it like a retirement home, not playing the game anymore just hanging out on moonguard in goldshire inn and swearing they wont reup on their sub this time
>>
>>731175071
if you played turtle why would you play the dogshit that is retail wow.
>>
>>731166681
WoW is not alone in that. I'd guess for most other retro games some .1%-1% of people who have ever played are still playing within the past month.
>>
>>731175193
someone kept begging me to play with him and gave me 60 days of gametime
>>
>>731166681
jesus dude you've been making variations on this thread for like a month, at least. at this point how are you even having fresh conversation?
>>
>>731175280
Most other games aren't MMOs meant to be played forever.
>>
>>731175334
Conversations based on statistics and science are like that. These threads have been new every time because MMO is a varied:deep topic.
>>
>>731175313

>>
>>731175334
>jesus dude you've been making variations on this thread for like a month
based if true.
>>731166681
I think the answer is yes, there is fundamental problem with wow, they're trying to solve it by bricking addons. lets see if it works.
>>
>>731176462
I think people should be allowed whatever add-ons, at least speaking from what we've had.
>>
>>731176696
They were for the longest time but instead of letting people cheat. Blizzard seemed to get it into their head they needed to design the game around the idea everyone was cheating.
Now they want to reset it all back to zero so they've effectively announced massive changes that all but cripple a lot of combat add-ons.
The problem being their own solutions are combat design are seen as still lacking from the communities pov and the add-on purge may be have made it so if they fuck up the great replacement too hard they cant get the indie devs back becasue most of them did it for free.tm.
>>
>>731176858
What about DPS/HPS add-ons?

UI overhauls?
>>
>>731176696
>I think people should be allowed whatever add-ons, at least speaking from what we've had.
they shouldn't. default game should be more than enough.
>>
>>731178538
I mean, what are we talking about, here? DPS meters too? Or just WeakAuras? Why do you think Don't Stand in the Fire add-ons should be disallowed?
>>
I don't think so, but when a game has been running as long as WoW, you start to lose the people who made it good in the first place.
