Been following this game since Alpha and recently bought it at the beginning of January, put roughly 30hrs into it despite its rough edges. Honestly, the game is not bad, but needs some work and is definitely in a better spot than it was a couple of seasons ago. The recent changes to custom lobbies, A.I., Valiant balancing, optimization, and the creator program were a step in the right direction. I think they need to do some balancing changes and some marketing/ gain trust back in lost players. Balancing wise:>Marquez's poison needs to be a bit more potent; the cooldowns are fine, but either it needs slightly higher damage, or she needs three mines to start with.>Vlad can keep the barrel, but his shield and ult need something. His ult needs to be reverted or needs to combo with his barricade. >Zhenshen just needs a wider range on his trophy system >If they gear Crocks' melee to be an instant during Hunting Feast and give him another Tomahawk, with more movement speed, that would be ideal. Death Roll should just be a movement ability with an enemy debuff. >Erwin self-applying her ult would be nice. >SMGs (aside from the DMP, PPSH, and PS-29), LMGs, and shotguns need help. Gun balance is a fucking mess now, maps could use some serious work, and I really hate the shift to high damage skills, but the foundation of the game has always been fine. Instead, you get to play some bizarre Battlefield-esque 4v4 or (if you're lucky) 8v8 MOBA where you farm bot creeps for ult pushes and try to funnel your own onto capture points. The game has been hamstringed itself even further out the gate by balancing itself around this silly state of affairs and now has completely lost the plot with Snep being plainly designed for this. If they don't bump the bots entirely or lessen the amount of them allow in a match while also making them SIGNIFICANTLY more competent, the game has no chance of pulling in people who aren't already connected through sunken cost. Doing that would also lessen the other biggest impediment to the game's growth: throwing new players out into open waters. People pick up the game out of curiosity, get absolutely murdered by premades or even just random solo queue vets, and then immediately quit. There just isn't much they can do in that situation because the small player count in matches means the impetus for victory is placed more heavily on each player and their squad. It's one thing to get clowned on by the top players on the scoreboard. It's something else entirely when the top players are hunting you down like a dog. It also works inversely as well. I don't want to shit on some guy with 5 hours played trying to do his best. But it quickly gets infuriating when any point I'm not personally at is immediately lost or when I have to constantly go up against a catnipped Ryan with an Erwin pocket while the rest of my squad is perpetually dead

The pool of four maps in rotation and the two game modes that people play (deathmatch is irrelevant at this point) gets repetitive quickly. The PvE mode keeps being mentioned, but the details are very scarce. To me, it screams, "We're fixing it, guys!" as they work in the background. Like they're trying to have everyone stay until it this mode is released.The playerbase, as mentioned several times, is quite small; So, you'll basically be matching against the same few dedicated individuals over and over. I thought Custom Rooms would "fix" this issue by having everyone create their own lobbies, but Combat Cat fucked it up by having the rooms give you no progression XP at the start. There's no reason for the lobbies other than if you want to zone out with friends against bot hordes. If you want to play against people, you'll still be queueing for Raid.

The game really does shine when you get more than retarded 1v3 or 2v2 or 4v4 matches. The 12+v12+ matches when the game first released in EA were some of the most fun I've ever had in a PvP shooter. Especially some random, Battlefield-lite furry shooter. Shame all the momentum was killed though incompetence.
