The devastating long-term effect of AI reliance is how it will diminish their user's ability to think for themselves. AIfags aren't exactly ashamed of delegating thought labor to a black box. Its like not bothering to learn mathematics because a calculator can do everything for you, but in a much worse scale.
>>
Haha, okay jeet, whatever you say.

That's a different story. Allowing jeets to use AI to vibe code critical infrastructure and systems is unacceptable, but if a small indie studio says that they use AI to help with coding and nothing else, then nobody is going to give a shit.
>>
>>731615437
I'm running into more and more people who just default to AI as "proof". slop is only regurgarating stuff fed into it. since it enshittified search engines, there's no choice but to use slop as search engine alternative now.

>>
>>731615546
You really overestimate how much normalfags care about this shit. If you've ever watched any one of those barely-competent game devs that post short devlogs on youtube, they will constantly admit to throwing AI at every little problem rather than working it out themselves, and nobody complains about it. Their games may end up like shit because of that, but people aren't actually saying shit like this: >>731614995

>>731615578
True, but "using AI to help with coding" is a spectrum ranging from "I used AI to generate 90% of my code lol" to "I only use AI as a better version of google search/stackoverflow in order to troubleshoot weird shit and find best practices" as well as "I use AI autocomplete to type stuff that I was gonna type anyways".

26 years ago, you heard this same song and dance back in 2000's. Problem with AI however is that you think you're a NASA-tier scientist just because you used a calculator. Talent has already evaporated in animation where schools like Calarts over-emphasize Motion Tween to a point their graduates can barely do traditional style anymore, which is the better looking one.

You see this in video games as well where people just dump unoptimized garbage with really shitty lighting design in UE5 and call it a day.

AI is a statistical model born from theft of unimaginable amounts of data.

When you ask AI to make an image of a bear, it takes the average of every image of a bear from it's database of stolen images.
>but why doesn't it come out the same every time
Because a tiny amount of random noise is added in at the beginning to stop exactly that.

AI is extremely dumb, it's far from intelligent, the only reason it appears to be so is because it has disgusting amount of stolen data to work with, that no legitimate business would have the means to procure legally. The whole of united states wouldn't be able to afford the stolen data used for these "AIs."

It's also why the whole of the US will collapse, because AGI is not possible with a dumb statistical algorithm, yet the whole economy of the country is riding on a promise of an AGI.

That's the wrong copilot dog. The git one is about as good as tab autocomplete. The W11 one is legitimately awful at everything it touches.

The dream was you can pay some ape the minimum wage to mash autocomplete until you have a shiny new app. But as is the ape will just make shit he can't understand and won't be able to fix. What is the point? You've spent literal trillions to make something a hair more useful as something we already had. Having seen people try to contribute AI genned code to a large overhaul mod I've worked on, I can safely say AI code is less than useless for my purpose, since it can't work with pre-existing codebases using non-standard languages and community made modding tools.
AI art can be useful for filling certain placeholders, since all I need for it is to generate a few icons mostly (still not worth using because it pisses off the artfags and writefags, both of which already work for free since it is a passion project)
Best use of it might be for writing shit like flavourtext, story events, but those are fun to shitpost with, so I don't bother anyway.
Annoying part is that codelets get confused why we won't accept their slop when the game wouldn't even recognise it as valid code.
>>
>>731624651
Using them as placeholders runs the risk of forgetting they're there when time comes to replace them. They would need to be bookmarked with a bright red dot or something. Most likely pre-production concept art work just replaces quick photoshop edits with AI instead, because real concept art is never aimed as commercial product for customers by itself, its "this is what it will look like/put the UE5 grass here"-templates for the 3D crew.
