Why did you stop playing Star Rail?
>>731703549I never started.
Amphoreus was so fucking boring, on top of the 20 different game modes clearly designed just to waste your time.Space china at least had some cool shit to do beside the snooze fest main story.
>>731703549I didn'tbut after Amphoreus I need a fucking break
>>731703549>Four guys in a row gameplay>Except you dont even pick the skill they use, they just... attack>Ultimates charging up and going off multiple times a fight, so why tf are they ultimates then?>Fast forward button in goddamn combat because the animations and attacks are so reptitive>Game starts out as high concept mish-mash of fantasy (The magical space train) and sci-fi (The space station you wake up in) but quickly devolves into "Planet of the week" with the first planet being industrialised russia and game loses all sense of identity because wtf was the point of the setup if this is where the game is going to take place for the first few hours>All lore exposition is WORDSWORDSWORDSWORDSWORDSWORDS and its all chinese translated word-salad at that>The Star Rail, the titular train the game is named after and themed around, has like 3 rooms and thats fucking it, was so disappointed I couldnt continue far from that
I never started. I was tempted at one point though
I lost interest after landing on the first planet and entering the first city. And I was already playing genshin and I decided to not play more than one gacha at a time so I’m stuck with genshin.
>>731703864Based. Just enjoying the art is how gacha are best experienced.
Never started. Roster was the blandest thing I could fathom for a space game.

>>731703549Hoyo has some of the worst writers in the industry and this is even if I lower my standards in advance knowing that its a gacha game so the story will be padded out to oblivion to extend the "play time". Every new region heavily focuses on selling you those new shiny characters so most of the story revolves around them. And its never anything cool like introducing new cool concepts that are related to the lore. No, its always "MY LIFE WAS SO HARDDDDDDDDDD :(((( PLEASE FEEL SORRY FOR ME AND ROLL ON MY BANNER :(((( LOOK HOW HARD AND SAD MY LIFE WAS :(((((((("
>>731703549>Rolled for Silver Wolf>Didn't get her>UninstalledFuck gachas
>>731703549I didn't, despite their best attempts, but Elationslop is probably going to be the last straw.
>>731704375Well, with you being a dumb gacha nigger I can see how you couldn't connect the dots on that one.
I don't get the current patch's story.Did 2.3 actually happen or was it retconned or what?
>>731703549Can't stomach it after finishing e33. Feel really shallow and not worth my time.

>>731705401>Penacony is a dream/simulator inside a space hotel Penacony is also a physical planet where the hotel is built and it partially exists within the dreamwrold, but they never really explain in detail what that actually means (or maybe they did in some text dump hidden behind finding 6 gorillions origami birds)
>>731705490They did explain it, it's a layer of some magic bullshit particles around the planet.
>>731705308Eyes too spaced apart and slanted in a way that makes them look like puppies with down's syndrome, could with fat puffy cheeks.
>>731703549Because is now aimed at brown people because mihoyo is beyond retarded, and as expected, is now flopping and has no content.Who could have guessed than adding black tier asses would be poison to the majority of your playerbase

>>731703549I started on release and dropped it with 1.2, game sucked in every way and why anyone keeps playing is a mystery to me, there's not a single appealing thing about the game. In fact, it was so bad it cured me of ever wanting to play a gacha game ever again.
>>731703549>enter boss fight>click autoplay>tab out of 2 mins>realize I'm not even playing the game>uninstall
>>731703549no option to play with Pom-Pom's foreskin whenever I want
>>731703549Story is bad. Lots of useless yap. Everyone speaks in riddles or like in some unnatural manner. Some of the answers given to the "muh 2deep4u" questions are retarded. Nothing to do in the game after doing story. Teams come preset so you almost have to roll for entire team to be able to have fun. Signature weapons are becoming more and more necessary. This game lives and dies by its story and the story is mid so the game is mid.
>>731703549I missed from playing the game day 1 so I don't even bother playing it at all. Playing a 1+ year(s) old gacha is stupid.
>>731703549Never started. Too busy fapping to the girls.
>>731705401Penacony is built in the ruins of a planet that was destroyed by overmining for the dream fluid in it. Amphoreus is the story of how a tamagatchi got angry enough to punch the player, and I give Planarcadia a pass because they had to throw out all of Edo star due to pressure from the Chinese government over Japan's new prime minister taking a hard line pro taiwan stance
>>731703549I spent all the gems I had (f2p player) to get Hotaru and couldn't get her, so I finished Penacony and I quit. From what I've been told Penacony was the highest point in the story, so I have no incentive to come back.
>>731703549Because the developers fucking hate their own game and it sucks, they also hate the player too considering how fucking pathetic the Traiblazer is in every expedition. We went from a flaming lance and a bat to a fucking hat, a gay ass book and quill and this next region is making Aha be a fucking retard so it'll probably be a camera stick to match up with Sparxie or some stupid shit. Even Endfield with its myriad of writing issues still has a protagonist that feels way more fit for the job
>immediately shill mono-[new path] for the new planet>it's a vfx vomit to boot
>>731703549too busy fapping to furina
I really got into it at first, then the writing started going on and on and I just fell off around PenaconyWhat was the dude's plan in the end? Make every day Sunday so nobody would have to work anymore? I was so confused about all the different factions and overcomplicated plots going on, maybe I'm just a brainlet
I had a Seele/Bronya/Silver wolf team that was way stronger than anything else I could put together and I just got so sick of playing the same characters in such a simple battle system. Artifact farming was AIDS too, I probably spent like 3 weeks spending all of my stamina on that and didn't get a single piece worth using
>>731703549Amphoreus was fucking boring. They should've just turned the entire game into a Firefly dating sim. Chinks can't actually write.
What are some gacha with actual good story and lore?
>>731711826lol
>>731703549I dropped it because Amphoreus was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too tedious. I could handle Penacony since it was just a few patches long, but Shaoji and effectively 8 patches for one story broke me. Holy fuck is he bad at writing. Also space Japan being turned into AI sloppa last minute to avoid being burnt to the ground by CCP.I'm good. Not picking it up again.
>>731711826Gachas can't have good stories inherently, because one of the most important parts of any fiction is its ability to come to an end. Neither developers, who financially benefit, or players, who "invest" financially, into gachas want their game to end, so instead, everything must be dragged out forever with no real conclusions, no real weight, no real meaning to fucking anything that happens.
>>731712149They could at least make the plots less predictable but every single limited 5 star you know has plot armor off the bat. Makes for "high stake situations" to not feel high stake at all
>>731703549The writing is meme-filled fucking garbage. Started when it came out, played for an hour or 2 and gave up.
>>731712203Most gacha players don't want their OC super special waifu they spend $600 on to die, so of course, any popular character is immortal. Some gachas will kill off characters, but even then, it's usually just people that don't fucking matter (OR THE DEATH WAS FAKE HAHA).
>>731703549You.
>>731712381Did Tingyun ever come back or did she actually die for good?
>>731712537She came back, with a censored cleavage.
>>731712537Ruan Mei brought her back. I am not joking.
>>731709452what the FUCK is that
>>731712625I don't get why they censored Tingyun's cleavage when Aglaea released right afterwards. Anti fox-girl discrimination.
>>731712381It's gay though because you can still use them in battle or whatever non-canonically. Nothing wrong with a character never coming back/their story being finished REEEE
>>731712381>gacha lets your waifu live>gets laughed at and be called a simp>gacha kills your waifu>gets laughed at and be called a cuck (for spending money on a dead character)
Same reason I stopped playing Genshin - there's no real reason to playI like a bunch of the characters but once you've played for a while and you can do all the endgame content easily there's no more incentive to play because there's no competitive elementI haven't logged in since Rappa patch and can most likely still clear all endgame modes for full rewards, which is boring
>>731703549banana monkeysI was already on the way out because of the power creep, artefact rng and the game feeling like a chore outside of content drops. But the entire university section with unskippable cutscenes was the final straw.
>>731703549I didnt get my season waifu so i drop the game
>>731703549Gacha games are not very fun. I gave genshin and honky a try. Genshin held my interest a tiny bit longer if only for exoloring the world like it was zelda. But I couldnt care less for an endless grind and dailies and nonsense.
>>731703549It got more and more boring, with more and more chores to do. In the end only Belobog was really good. Not-China and Penacony were kinda boring too.
>>731703549Speeding through 'phoreus with a video playthrough on the side. Will probably do the same with 2.8. Bit sad to leave behind a semi-decent collection of characters, but this past two years have precisely proven to me why I dislike Hoyo's storytelling. Although WuWa has its own issues. Happy to drop a gacha and set aside more time for actual games and Trails.
I got up to the monkey plot or whatever and realized I've wasted so much of my time with the game. It's just far too abstract at what it's trying to tell. I have no idea how I managed to survive doing the entirety of Penacony. How this game makes so much money is ever beyond me because you cannot possibly tell me the majority of the playerbase was able to pick up on whatever story this game is trying to tell.Maybe I'm a brainlet but I still enjoy doing Genshin's story to this day. At least that game got better with its storytelling.
>>731703639FPBPBanish gacha niggers to >>>/vmg/
>>731715626>and can most likely still clear all endgame modes for full rewardsYeah, nah. The powercreep is crazy in this game.Aside for Break teams (with the brand new support) and DoT (with the brand new support), all pre-Amphoreus teams are pretty much unusable now.
>>731703549Because they stopped giving firefly and the stellaron hunters any screentime. Amphoreus was also insanely boring filler with unlikeable/forgettable characters. I checked out by 3.5, but apparently it got even worse with all the Elysia shillings.
>>731711826They are all shit, but out of the ones I've played that had acceptable story were Path to Nowhere (just in events) and Limbus.
>>731703549same reason as genshit, got bored of the subpar return to chinaland arcs made because if you don't treat the home region way better than the rest they throw fits
>>731717372I honestly miss the Chinawank after going through the not-Greek planet.
You play HSR for the absolute mindblowing orgasms after dozens of hours of yapping. It's like edging on crack.
>>731703549Too many teams were starting to become required and the story is way too padded. Belabog was cool because you could play through it all at once, having the story dripfed over an entire year is retarded and everything is way too padded because they have to extend each part so that they can get a years worth of content from it.
>>731703549>combat gets intensely dull and repetitive if you don't pay for new characters>overwhelming amounts of meaningless busywork>horrifying power creep>story that makes no sense, written by reprehensible bugmenThe characters were sympathetic, but shit's unplayable
>>731703549Shoving companion quests and other side content into the main story because their "fans" couldn't even be bothered to play their game. Going back and re-experiencing the 1.X content (except the Xianzhou main story) after Amphoreus made it clear to me that the game's glory days are over.
>>731703549SHiN
>>731703549The realization that I like Firefly a lot more in fanart and doujins than in her own story bits made me realize that the writing is shit, and this was before Amphoreus.

>449bait
>>731711826Limbus is the best one in terms of story/lore because it's a setting built over 2 single player games and some webnovel side content before the gacha came out.It also doesn't have the usual "shilling for the latest character" problem because it has a fixed cast of 12 characters, only drawback is each main story chapter takes like 6 months to release so there's a lot of dead time once you catch up.
>>731703549>Why did you stop playing Star Rail?Gamefeel changed, character designs diluted and autoplay became the main way to interact with the game's gameplay because rotations and new characters started to dominate compared to early game strategy of shielding your characters, healing, choosing when and what to attack.Main reason for me was the boring and formulaic character designs, which felt like they were designed by women for women.Wuwa replaced the game feel i got from the initial Starrail promo material, picrel with music that was better:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCX-oqICUUYhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45rfWkbgkyURinascita soundtrack was exactly what Starrail had in style and music but somehow threw away with following planets after release.I only started playing Starrail because of their prerelease website art and music, it had that careful crafted elegance and uniqueness i hadn't seen before, which is exactly what Rinascita zone in Wuwa had but for a whole area instead of only at the start.

>>731703549I didn't but I'm considering it.Brevity is the soul of wit, and these people cannot shut up.The game's inability to condense its plot into something that doesn't take forty paragraphs to explain is irritating in the extreme.Penacony's plot alone was needlessly fucking obtuse, then they had the gall to revisit its conclusion multiple times. From what I hear Amphoreus isn't going to be any better.
>>731703549I quit as soon as I got Firefly, the game was overstaying it's welcome by then but I had been looking forward to FF for so long that I held on until she released
>>731703549Failed the 50/50 for Cyrene, went on a long trip and when I came back I just didn't log in anymore.
>>731719476That game also sucks, also ultimately suffers by being a gacha too. The game part itself is absolutely awful and looks terrible, but the story often suffered by the tedious aspects of the gameplay. The time-wasting, boring gameplay being, not only shoved in between story segments, but there were week long periods where the story is just>WAKE UP>WHOOPSIE GRAVY>NOW GO TRAIN IN THE BORING SHIT GAMEPLAY ZONE>GO TO SLEEPsucks because the writing was nice sometimes and Yuina was cute
>>731716583>How this game makes so much money is ever beyond me because you cannot possibly tell me the majority of the playerbase was able to pick up on whatever story this game is trying to tell. It's actually pretty simple. Genshin is a gacha for people who don't play gacha games. Star Rail is a gacha for people who do.Autoplay gameplay, powercreep out of the ass, endless hours and hours of dialogue as story. Star Rail is unmistakably the exact same sort of game as FGO, Granblue Fantasy, Onmyouji, KanColle and all the other old gacha classics. It draws the people in by being a "next-gen" version of this gacha loop with pretty visuals compared to the JPEG/lo-poly stuff of yesteryear but underneath Genshin's graphics engine lays the old reliable. And well, these games were making piles upon piles upon piles of cash for well over a decade. Why would it stop working now? Especially since most of the JPEG devs can't make a "next-gen" to compete and most of the devs who can make a game with modern visuals choose to chase after Genshin's demographic instead, also opting for games you actively have to play in some form... despite the obvious success of the few which picked Star Rail's route like Uma Musume (again, a quintessential gacha with no gameplay to speak of, just done with an actual budget instead of random JPEGs and Adobe Flash effects).

>>731731562I'm surprised ZZZ hasn't given us an event like that yet.
>>731731843Not to sound like an asshole but I can't think of many games these days that actually lean into the anime aesthetic. Both Square Enix and Capcom are chasing that photorealistic dragon or go for pixel slop, and even Dragon Quest is moving away from the Toriyama style.Persona/SMT and Guilty Gear at least try to push the aesthetic further, I think.
>>731703549I hate Genshin's artifact mechanic outside of Genshin. Also the English VA strike ruined most of Hoyo's games. Thankfully HI3rd took in Sparkle and Sampo, the only two worth a damn, from that game.Might come back if Vita gets in.

>>731703549I got filtered by endless space china and never went back. From what I've heard, the story never really picked back up and progressed into having a serious problem with "show, don't tell", so I'm not really regretting that choice.
>>731703549There's no gameplay. When you get caught up there's nothing to do.All the weeklies, dailies and whatnot are all auto-battle.So the only time you get to play the game is when the endgame refreshes, and that's the worst part of the game due to all the powercreep and shilling.
>>731735360thats a main problem with mihoyo's games in general. There isn't anything to fucking do. Building is really the entire point. Yea thats gacha in general, but its even more so with Mihoyo.
>>731735486I don't feel like Genshin has this problem due to exploration, co-op and a bunch of other resinless behavior you can do. There are ways to spice up your dailies too."B-But you can also just not play autobattle and turn your dailies into something more fun"While true... it's different. Because even with the shittiest comps, if they're not absolutely braindead your auto is still going to clear. And if your auto can clear, just pressing buttons doesn't feel that great, it's just a visual spectacle.
>>731735964Endgame for HSR or games like Priconne is auto-clear.
>>731735486>Building is really the entire point. Yea thats gacha in general, but its even more so with Mihoyo.Pretty much, I treat HSR as a character builder game where the whole point is pulling/relic farming then watching your team win on auto.

>>731719159The problem with FF is that she unironically didnt get enough screentime to shine. Outside of the date in 2.0 she was essentially a side character in her own story. Its the complete opposite of Cyrene who took over the entire plot like a tumor for the second half of the story.
>>731719234I'm just a humble Silver Wife enjoyer.
I started playing before the Penacony arc. I originally got invested because I liked the gameplay and also liked the space setting. Simulated Universe is unironically just a really fun roguelike in its own right. I liked the Penacony story but was massively soured on the games writing by one of the later Penacony chapters (2.7? I think? It was the one Rappa was introduced in, loved her character but that chapter was actively annoying to read because it was just not funny but was trying so hard to be). Additionally I was hoping they would lean more into sci-fi and when 3.0 released and it was extremely heavily Greece inspired I just lost all interest. As the game went on, the gameplay modes they added stopped being interesting to me. The only new stuff they added that was FUN was the occasional new character with cool mechanics (Acheron, Feixiao, The Herta, Archer, Rappa) or extensions of Simulated Universe, which eventually wasn't enough to keep me going. The character design also just got boring to me. The very limited set of body models means no one looks unique. Very few characters actually stand out and when you know everyone fits a fairly strict body type, you also know the game just isn't going to ever have particularly cool designs.Half way through 3.0 I just lost interest and then focused on playing other things. I knew the Fate collab was coming so I continued doing dailies and the occasional SU run, enjoyed the Fate collab and rolled for Saber, and then dropped the game. A part of me wants to look up any The Herta scenes I've missed, as I waited so long for her to be released only for me to stop following story right after she did, but I at least got her on her release anyway. Maybe some time.

>>731703549it doesn't matter if you put 1 hour into a team or 1000, it plays the exact same forever; you press to auto button. currency wars was fun for a bit since it fully leaned into the fact the game is just an autobattler, but the entire rest of the game drags it down. don't need to to download 200gb, put up with shitty gacha monetization, and slog through hours of convoluted story to play any other autochess type game.
>>7317373703.0 to 3.2 were pretty bad but even with the "it's all a simulation" gimmick I still don't like the greece aesthetic, I just want episodic sci-fi star trek like adventures in space
>>731703549i played it on release and got to the china china china planet and lost interest forcing myself through it. tried to come back to penis colony but i was bored out of mind and dropped it. it's a shame because the belobog chapter was kino
>>731712149>thisPlus they need to constantly advertise new characters, so they will leave the story consistency and character development aside in order to push their new character to be sellable.
>>731712149>Gachas can't have good stories inherently, because one of the most important parts of any fiction is its ability to come to an end.Flawed logic. Ignoring the fact that there's literally nothing saying a continuous or even unfinished story cant be well written, there's the fact that individual chapters in many gacha are effectively their own story outright, and in cases like Avalon la Fae in Fate/Grand Order, so big they pretty much are their own VN, with a beginning and end.And before I'm misunderstood, yes, I do recognise the protracted nature of gacha game stories typically leads to poor writing due to the inherent nature of pulling out a story as long as possible for monetary gain obviously having an adverse effect (FGO is also a victim of this) but to say that gachas fundamentally cannot have good writing because of that is dumb.
>>731703549I didn't.
