SCP is a great concept, but the official SCP is entirely too unrealistic (note: I haven't read anything from there in years). Control did a decent job with the concept. You have to subdue a lot of elements when creating something like this. You don't want to go too far or it breaks believability.For starters, you have to have limits. World ending artifacts or scenarios that require unbelievable luck to survive/contain breaks suspension of disbelief. Having thousands of extremely dangerous creatures and devices while maintaining secrecy and people willing to help contain shit is too far fetched. I remember one being a rape ritual on a child to prevent the end of the world or something. Not the problem itself, rather, how the fuck did they determine this? Too lazy to find out. But again, that's the kind of stuff you have to take into consideration. Me personally, I'd have stuff that was more mind-affecting. Nothing that can end the world or reality, or at least it's extremely uncommon. Even then, make it an unlikely scenario for the artifact to do such a thing. Make the fear in it being abused or following into the hands of the wrong people or alien race. No grandfather clocks that have to be wound up daily or the world goes boom or some stupid shit like that.That's my blog.
