I have tried so hard to understand mahjong. I learned koi-koi, I learned shogi. I just don't get mahjong. I just want mahjong replaced in games with Mahjong Solitaire. It's more fun.
I play Mahjong Solitaire like this. It's easier to differentiate between the tiles.
>>732111125Lol wut. Mahjong is easier than shogi
>>732111125If you have an iq below 110 you litteraly cannot play mahjong, it requires to much abstraction
I play mahjong while listening to japanese metal mahjong https://youtu.be/0yd4GsVT3GI?si=yBnxLwtmTAf9oLwM
Whatever you do, do not fall for the eurotroons telling you to read RB1
>>732111125is there a version of Mahjong that has like training wheels and easier to spot pictures for the tiles as well as like pop-ups showing you what hands you're close to?Just something that would at least help me get started. Just jumping in is too much. I don't know what anything means.
What's so hard about four sequences and a pair?
Mahjong is entirely a luck based game. There is nothing to "learn."
>>732111316Not true, I've seen some really stupid people playing mahjong
>>732111495I think SEGAMJ shows you, but it's JP only. Honestly just play 300 second bot games until you figure it out
Come to the /vg/ thread they will nurture you
>>732111495Some of the japanese porno mahjongs have cheats that rig things to automatically get better hands for you. The list of special hands should fit on a piece of paper.>>732111125Have you watched akagi? They had a video game version where the gameplay involves cheating like a motherfucker.
I love mahjong but I never play it in Yakuza 0. The RNG feels fucked up.
>>732111495I learned playing Yakuza 0, but you can use anything.Start by playing with the setting so the tiles have the translation on the corner, like the numbers or wind sign are on the corner of the tile. After that, just start playing and solely go for a basic hand: 4 sets of 3, which can be triplets or a sequence, and 1 identical pair.Go ONLY for basic tiles, no honor (winds and dragons) and no terminals (1 and 9)Just play a couple dozen matches like this going only for the same hand every time until you get a better feel.
>>732111125>I just don't get mahjong.Just stop stealing tiles, I have no idea why this is so hard for people to grasp. 90% of your isseas disappear when you never look at pon, chi, or kan as viable options.Throw away winds unless they're your seat or the table's, and only if you start with two of them. They will just waste your time and hand space.Throw away dragons if you don't already have two of them, there's no point.Once you understand that then just go for any of these hands. Literally everything else is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, you do not need to make complicated hands ever.

>>732112989Not him but isn't the version used in Pirates in Hawaii slightly easier/beginner friendly, since it'll automatically display the Riichi pop-up, when that option is available? Were there any other changes?
>>732113073You can just press square every single turn to check for riichis with no downside to doing so. In fact, you should be doing that. 8G just did that for you now.
>>732112989This man has no flow.
>>732113131You are already Rising Sun'd.
>>732113118I see. Thank you.
>>732111125Nigga, come on-Three sets (meaning either triplets or a sequence like 1-2-3. It doesn't wrap around so something like 8-9-1 isn't valid) and a pair.-If you discarded one of your winning tiles earlier then you're in furiten, meaning you can only win by tsumo and not ron-You NEED at least one yaku, a yakuless hand has no value and therefore can't winIt ain't rocket science. With that said, you might be better off not learning. Mahjong causes great damage to the human spirit without a single benefit.
/mjg/ is filled with sexual predators they WILL pull your pants down and rape you at summer camp
>>732111125Just play Mahjong Soul against the AI and learn at your pace. It's easy to learn but hard to master, also IIRC Yakuza AI sometimes cheats so don't feel bad if you lose. It's mini game that acts as a time sink
>>732115420>also IIRC Yakuza AI sometimes cheatsThey do cheat but you just need to play the hardest difficulties to avoid that. Until around 7 or LJ the difficulties were completely reversed so the hardest tables were the easiest and the easiest tables were the hardest. You'll notice this if you've played enough of the games because the hardest tables will throw out 1 han hands all the time, steal every chance they get, and the highest they can ever seem to manage is maybe a mangan if they're not just stealing everyone's tiles. Meanwhile the easiest tables double riichi all the time, they regularly haneman and baiman, they only steal when necessary, they know how to read discards, and they are the only tables I've seen get a yakuman.Obviously the easy tables can sometimes go full retard with 1 han hands and the hardest tables can double riichi into an ippatsu tsumo, but it is significantly less likely to have happen at all. If you stay away from the ranked tournament mode it is also far less likely to run into cheating opponents since the higher up you go they actually do get harder like they should.
