The entire game is flawed from the top down, anon, are you kidding? The game essentially boils down to a series of AW-esque challenge maps where the units you need to complete the chapter are handed to you at the start of the chapter and then taken away to be replaced with new ones. Training a unit is not only frowned upon but actively punished by various mechanics in the game to the point that in any serious playthrough the only unit that is worth observing enemies as sources of experience for the purpose of developing a unit rather than just a thing you go around while you are bum-rushing map clear conditions, is to put levels in haar. And even then there is a serious argument that leveling haar from killing units is a mistake when stat-guaranteed bonus experience exists. Once you understand that every non-essential round combat in the game is a mistake on the player's part both the balance and the game itself completely collapse around its other systems.

I think I just realized something. So in the EN space, if I'm correct, the japanese explanation for the black knight's warp powder situation is viewed as an accident. I.E it malfunctioned and that's why his body was transferred but his mind and armor was left behind. But there's no indication in this line that it's an accident. That I see anyway. Actually if anything it seems to be a function of warp powder. And I think the reason this is a thing, is to partially explain his double agent shenanigans. The black knight would use the powder keep his physical body and armor and mind separate. The idea being that instead of just appearing and dissapearing, he could basically control the armor remotely. That's my immediate read, what's does everyone else think.

am I underlevelled here at the start of chapter 3? it feels like half of my characters are falling behind either because they're too fucking slow to actually fight anything or because they're too weak because of like 5 level ups in a row with no +strength.

I'm saving at the start of every turn and reloading if it doesn't go well which is basically cheating and it's still difficult. if I put 2 or 3 of my strongest characters in a choke point with a healer behind them I'm invincible and enemies just suicide on them, but if I want to use my weaker characters it's too easy for them to get sniped. also walking characters seem way weaker because they don't get the post-attack move so you can't move them back to a safer position after attacking.

The only ones I'd be worried about being underleveled on that list are Lachesis and Erinys. Power level the fuck out of Lachesis if you can, she gets a horse on promo. Erinys is also important because she's a flier, and she gets staves on promo. The rest of them don't really matter, or are doing fine in level. If you're not playing for rank, you don't have to worry about units like Arden, the Christmas boys and Midir being underleveled because they don't matter much overall. You can promote your Lex in the castle now btw, since he's level 20.
