The third area's two layer design is one of those that's in theory interesting, but not so much in execution. It veers off into being frustrating too often for me. I preferred the city and the island more (so far at least).But then I don't know if there's many non-platformer games that do verticality well.

I'll probably finish it before Nioh 3 comes out unless the other endings are super long. Game is okay, the first one is way better due to multiple reasons. The game peaked at Josee and Holly for me. Lyle was fucking stupid and Zenon is barely a character. I still have the Valentine fight left and then whatever endings after. After Nioh 3 I may go back and replay CV1 but as it stands I'll probably never replay CV2 unless they add online.

For everybody wondering if there's any connections to the first game, there are. While doing Valentine's side quest you come to the revelation that there are unlimited worlds and certain Revenants world hop all the time. You are also told that there are other worlds that have come into contact with Revenant technology. It's highly likely that Code Vein 1 is one of those worlds that found Revenant tech. Reading the item descriptions of the weapons from the first game semi confirm that the events of Code Vein 1 did happen as well although it's mostly irrelevant to the story of 2. I guess you can think of CV2 as the "main" setting of the Code Vein setting although it's pretty damn stupid to be honest. I'm not a big fan of the setting in 2 considering the potential they had for a proper followup.

I guess blood code level up limits are tied to zone rather than story progression like I first assumed, because I'm doing Lyle's area after clearing Josee and Holly's and they've all stopped progressing, even ones that until now had been gaining experience. Fucking stupid way to do it.

So I've been messing around with halberds and I'm getting around 8kish damage on formae while maintaining a quick dash. I'm using Valentin A so it's kind of cucked on stamina but it's not that bad overall for that kind of damage while having quick dodging. Anybody else do any fun builds they threw together? Yes I know about the bloodreaver blade doing like 40k a hit but realistically that is pretty difficult to pull off in most boss fights without eating shit most of the time.

Honestly i think i am fed up in general when it comes to souls-like gameplay. I still have not even bothered to try elden ring. Maybe eventually i will. I will wait until i can get over 100fps with decent consistently in CV2 before i play it, by then we should have some better clothing options thanks to mods.
