Who is the sneakiest boi?
>>
>>732184781
Corvo probably, because he's literally a ghost who can make bodies disappear
>>
>>732184781
>Be 47
>Walk up to a guard
>Refused entry
>Walk away
>Put on the same hat as the guard
>Go back to guard
>Walk straight past him
It's objectively 47.
>>
>>732184876
I wouldn't even care if agent 47 walked right past me even in his default suit at my work place, I don't get paid enough anyway.
>>
>>732185845
is that why you’re always picking coins up off the floor?
>>

Why can't stealth be an alive genre anymore? also Sam Fisher and Garret. But I'm not saying that because they're the most versatile or the best at being sneaky, they're weak because they NEED the cover of shadows. It's just that they're my favorite type of stealth games. I believe 47 is the most flexible character of them all. Being hidden in plain sight is the most effective method of being sneaky including getting into areas which cause more hassle the other way of infiltration. And you're not limited to your activities needing to be done at night.

It's because stealth is a slow paced genre without constant action and most people today have an attention span of a few seconds.
>>

Unironically, kys
>>
>>732186323
zoomers are dopamine addicted freaks that cannot stomach anything slower paced than Fortnite. The only reason why they aren't playing Quake or even Tribes instead is because they require skill.

The art in the game was objectively good, the game itself just kind of sucked because the retard directors didn't understand the previous games or genre.

I've been sleuthing for upcoming games in the indie scene and most of them are pretty rough. With one having maybe potential. It's a cursed genre because no one actually has the capacity to make them either. Require budgets more than what many are capable of. I think the new Styx will be cool but i still prefer the method SC and Thief does for detection. My finds.

I was just posting that for anyone who wants to know about whether these kinds of game exist or will exist. I'll save it for future threads. There's literally nothing that isn't some janky alpha looking game. Even the space SC game is kind of crap and i don't think it's doing the sound detection part right, i just hope that one improves because shadow intensity stealth is the best kind. There was a more promising looking game called Mudang Two Hearts. But it was the caveat of SC Blacklist (aka the compromise of not being slow paced). That's now a cancelled game. So can't be listed as anything but dead now. EVR studios literally has 2 people working in it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynZYj6_RWxA

Had the potential to be something that was mildly entertaining, albeit less than optimal. Which is no longer. Whole studio is dead.

New styx is coming out next week, it's the only stealth game we'll get for a couple of years
>>

Don't think it's budget but more about the savoir-fair, how many devs out there have experience in stealth games?? 1 in a 1000? you need to scavenge the devs of the old ubisoft to find them retired in the maldives
>>
>>732193629
> it's the only stealth game we'll get for a couple of years
Yeah not until Physint basically. Or 007 first light. Which I'm not sure if it will be like Hitman or not on the other. I'm assuming it's 007 Hitman.

I can basically only find ideas of games online. See I'm the desperate kind of person that tries to find whatever the hell i can and my searches are never fruitful. I find some idea of some janky ass splinter cell game on the steam store. Not the game but the idea (with no gameplay footage) Aka whatever the hell this is:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2711150/Lethal_Infiltration_Ghost_Reconnaissance/

Another one that doesn't look so amazing. I'm usually skeptical if a light meter or a sound meter is not displayed. It's not always the case it will be bad but a general rule of thumb likely indicates the mechanics just aren't present. Thief was the only example of where it didn't need it and you needed to judge by actual game interaction.

I might as well accept that it's dead even for indie.
>>
>>732186323
Ai and vidi games will try to be realistic and it seems majority if games all play the same. Open world sand box type of game. Soon all games will have an ability to play it stealthily. Look at far cry you can sneak around in it same will probably happen with most games in the future
>>
>>732193728
>how many devs out there have experience in stealth games?? 1 in a 1000?
Probably a ton of them didn't even play the golden era of stealth games too. Hence you now have devs that are working on Assasin's Creed tier era of stealth. EG. this guy below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRDmWF1q-AM
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3857800/Outlaws_Vengeance/

^ Or in other words he never grew up with my games and he doesn't know how to make them or doesn't care how they played. Never liked them or was interested in them. So i feel it's really down to age generations too. There likely is some people that might have the skill but they consider AC as the peak and i consider AC to be veering off course of what made SC and Thief great. Parkouring is never about being silent. There's another example i have of someone focused on parkour and I'm just really disappointed that people interpret the genre in this way.

>Soon all games will have an ability to play it stealthily
Yeah but what they'll never factor in is things like variable light meters and dynamic sound (including floor surface based) that carries over into detection states. Every open world game is doing the opposite of what should be done. I kind of blame Dishonored for throwing away some of the crucial mechanics too personally. But I'm sure people will not like hearing about my bitching on that one. They consider it great because of more advanced level design.
>>
>>732196350
Also those who whine about realistic stealth piss me off. Because most of them are admitting that they want to just gut the mechanics of games. Just my personal opinion.

It's definitely an issue
you need hire a lot more talented designers and programmers and pay them to work on small levels for months

Considering the technology Solid (I know boss is pictured) has to avoid in MGS4 without cybernetic enhancements like Adam or supernatural abilites like Corvo it has to be him but canonically he's been caught more than once.

I forgot to mention: similarly to Blades of Greed that there's a new stealth game with a demo up too. Might want to check it out and request access from the developer. I'm going to assume it's going to be a while until we get games out of the indie scene like Core Decay or Deep State that probably has stealth options. But I'm assuming those ones will be a barebones because Immsims trying to be the master of all trades but jack of none (unlike Thief). Who knows. Sort of looks like a horror themed dishonored.

>It's definitely an issue
That's my thoughts. However i think there's also another issue that they find these projects too risky for their studios to go into bankruptcy. So i also believe that regardless of what indie developers tell you about doing something regarding the passion of it, that's not entirely true or a half truth if it's not really guaranteed to keep them in business. Perhaps they might have ambitions to try it but they are also realists about profit margins and getting a return on development costs. And perhaps not even the early access model could solve that because to keep the development going they would still need a sizeable buyer chunk which will never happen due to niche and obscurity. The long short of it is that a lot of indie developers have still adopted some of the same undesirable traits of the multi million dollar companies.

I don't agree that Sekiro classifies as what Tenchu was. That will be my parting comments that Rikimaru still has not been replaced and Wolf/Sekiro is not his replacement. I'd have preferred the primitive functions of Tenchu Z because at least it stuck in it's own lane and never attempted anything else. However flawed that may have been. I just don't think Souls Likes work in this genre. It's supposed to be hard for different reasons. Because despite being able to deal massive damage on bosses due to stealth attacks it still forces you to play the right of the fight as it is with no attempt at regaining the advantage from hiding again.
>>
>>732185935
I laughed.

Doing great work Anon, showing that there are still people here who care about games. Are you also the one who made that upcoming indie Imsim thread the other day?

Fisher:
>Commando with a lifetime of experience, NAVY seal training, and the full backing of the US government
47:
>Selected for the best genes and groomed to be an assassin from childhood, perfect accuracy, social chameleon despite being socially retarded
BB/Snake:
>Big Boss is like Sam Fisher on steroids with ridiculous martial arts training; Solid Snake is like Big Boss meets 47
There's a clear winner among the first three

Garrett:
>Preternaturally skilled, personally selected and trained by a secretive order who blend in supernaturally
Jensen:
>Reflex boosters, foot padding, a literal cloaking device - but he does only have SWAT training
Ezio:
>Honestly just kind of a street kid who picked up the profession ridiculously quick and mastered blending, parkour, and combat at a young age but remained fit well into old age. Probably the precursor genes.
Corvo:
>Already the personal bodyguard of the empress and skilled at combat, his ridiculous magic powers and various gadgets elevate him to another level
Rikimaru
>I shamefurry admit I'm not familiar with Tenchu

So, discounting magic and gadgets, it would be Solid Snake. Including magic and gadgets, it's a Goku vs. Superman kind of question. But Corvo has the most power creep I think.

No worries. I didn't cover everything. From what I've heard at least from Anti Matter games officially that IGI origins isn't cancelled. Development is on hold. So hopefully that one resurfaces one day.

But there's already a similar game to this that released called Transience. Which was a decent surprise for me even if it was amateurish.
