>reboots a decades dead series>jump the shark immediately>modders do your job for you>abandon series and let third parties handle the IP>the third party handles it like shit and turns it into diversity cast reddit humorlooking back on it, what the fuck was firaxis even trying to accomplish here?
>>732189987With XCOM2 you mean?Based on what we got, I assume making the best turn based tactics game ever made
>>732189987How did the Firaxis XCOM games jump the shark, exactly?
WOC jumped the sharkChimera Squad was worse than the Holocaust
>>732189987>looking back on it, what the fuck was firaxis even trying to accomplish here? For 2, release one of the best turn based games ever made with the expectation mods, Long War if you believe that one interview, will make it even better. And they did, which is why it's still one of the most popular games in it's genre a decade later - that and no real competition
>>732189987I realized WotC would have been a much better game if they never added the ability to permanently kill the Chosen. The power spike that you get when you don't have to deal with their bullshit makes the game really boring.
>On chrysalid map>Pushed in too far too fast, getting overwhelmed >Find bus on map overgrown with alien goo plants, but is enterable>Desperately push forward into it, windows are half cover, has 1 entrance on the front and back>Squad fires from inside as I fight tooth and nail to hold back the entire map I pissed off>Shotgunner gets his face ripped off and gets downed. No one to hold them back from the doors>Finally kill the last couple as they start getting in>Limp to evacGod what a fun memory. Thanks for reminding me OP!
>like the gameplay of XCOM 2 over EU>vastly prefer the aesthetics, alien invasion scenario, and story (or lack thereof) in EUAm I alone in this?
>>732189987>alien skull>made of little human skulls? They had no vision for this cover.
>>732189987Midnight suns was a good game, no one played doe
>>732191440You never played any tactics games before nu-xcom.
>>732191440fpbpI still need to play the DLC tho. How is it?
>>732193031yes anon you're the only person on earth who feels this way, not like many other people aren't always mentioning it
>>732193132It’s actually kino howeverbeit because the aliens are melting humans down into gene soup to create alien hybrids and the perfect bodies for the ethereals
>>732193132If it was made today, people would be crying that it's AI-generated.
Is there a mod that adds extra types of the king/queen? Or more Chosen (would have been cool to get a chosen nade launcher or minigun).
>>732193132it's the plot of Xcom2 in a nutshell.Humans were brainwashed by the Ethereals & being ground up in to genetic gray goo which the Ethereals were using to create Super Saiyan host bodies for themselves.
>>732189987>Meanwhile, as one of the three existing Phoenix Point enjoyersDead in the crib.
>>732189987How does Phoenix Point (with all dlcs) compare ?
>>732191440Larping zoomies will hate you for proclaiming this factual truth.
>>732196590I honestly prefer it, but even with DLC the game feels more like the chassis for a game than a finished product. Everything from the UI to the character models feels like it's been rushed to a point where its functional but just hasn't had any polish put in it, presumably because the devs ran out of time. The Terror from the Void overhaul helps with a lot of things, and there's allegedly a big patch for the mod in the works, but even then it just feels half baked in my opinion, as someone with several hundred hours in the game I simply cannot recommend it unless it's on sale for dirt cheap.
