If something changes on main platfor they need to keep in mind how it affects all of their deploys, or at least fix problems as they arise.You can often see similar things happen with youtube, where if you try to use an old app version on an old phone it creates all sorts of glitches, probably doesn't not work at all. Same reason why 3rd party apps for YT often break after minor main website updates.
