Play his game.
>>
Now STARFY I can get into
>>
>>732190847
I tried playing the GBA games, but I was also trying to follow along with the Japanese, of which I barely know any.
>>
>>732190847
This is literally the easiest, most boring entry in his series.
>>
>>732190847
I did play it. It was like a particularly milquetoast kirby game and I traded it into gamestop once I beat it.
>>
>>732192430
>didn't beat the secret world, pufftop kingdom, or old man lobber
you didn't beat the game, you probably didn't even find all the chests and outfits for starfy.
>>
>>732190847
There was a suspicious amount of vore in this game.
>>
Too easy for its own good.
>>
>>732191963
whats a good entry point
>>
>>732190847
play the fan translations of starfy 1 and starfy 3 on gba
>BUH BUH BUH STARFY TOOOOOOOOOOOO
trust me you wont be lost going into 3, but if you wanna play 2 follow the video translations on youtube
>>732193731
this applies to the whole series lol

I couldn't beat this fucking nigger because of the button-mashing segment at the very end. I'm still mad.
>>
>only one game ever got localized
for what purpose
>>
I can understand why this crappy mascot failed, but I still don't know why Ristar never succeeded
>>
>>732199836
fuck you starfy is a great mascot
>>
>>732190847
I played the DS game. It felt like someone made a Very Easy mode of one of the Kirby games and Kirby is already an easy game.
>>
>>732199745
They thought the series was too Japanese
>>
>>732199128
I had the same experience as a kid. The rest of the game was piss easy, why the hell did they have to go and do that?

>Wasn't an in-house Nintendo IP
>Still got heavy promotion by Nintendo
>Music CDs, plushies, manga, etc
>Some in the pipeline before the first game even came out (it was originally gonna be for the Game Boy Color but got delayed to be released on the GBA)
>Gets 5 games in the span of 7 years
>Goes unlocalized for the majority of its releases for being "too Japanese" and it finally did get localized (albeit with a compromised localization) NoA went hard with its promotion
>It had two high budget live-action commercials, partnerships with aquariums and science centers, promotional events at Toys R' Us', a launch event at New York's Nintendo store complete with paper visors, t-shirts, and a promotional Starfy costume to take pictures with kids at said store, aquariums, and science centers
>Despite developer interest on a Wii entry and the western release performing well, the series has been dormant for almost 20 years likely because of dwindling interest in Japan
>What Westerners saw was a new platforming game with some who were curious given the series' history of not being localized
>To the Japanese, this was just another Starfy game
I'm not clamoring for a new Starfy game just because or that he'd stop being an Assist Trophy had his series made it stateside earlier or saying it's necessarily a failed franchise and Starfy is a no-hoper but I kind of find it interesting that it's intrigue came from how it was region-locked.

The original GBA trilogy
>>
>>732190847
I finally understand what was going on in that takoyaki minigame (I didn't know what takoyaki was)
>>
>>732190847
I beat it when I was 11 I liked the rabbit on the cover when I saw it at Toys R us.
>>
>>732190847
I did
The previous games looked cooler, I don't like or understand why they decided to give everyone puppet mouths
>>
>>732207726
Maybe to make it more western appealing?
Starfy 5 was made with global audiences in mind
>>
>>732190847
Reminder that Nintendo chose to localize the Hamtaro games over the Starfy ganes because this was during kirby's big comeback in the early 2000s and they didn't want to have two cutesy platforming mascots overshadowing eachother.
>>
>>732211274
Hamtaro's anime was airing in the West
>>
I did go back and play 1-4, there’s a lot of that that’s better than Legendary. It’s a damn shame it was never localized. At the very least they dumped the untranslated GBA games on switch but that’s just the bare minimum. I remember there being a fan project of translating 1 but I don’t know if it was ever finished or if they ever got to the other ones.
>>
Those retarded fuckers at NoA called takoyaki dumplings

A fucking shame, Stafy was doing better than a certain other IP that got wanked by a certain director that didn't get AS much promotion. The game doing the numbers it did should have told the higher ups in Japan to push Stafy more in the states if not the west in general.
