BETHESDA STATUS??
>>
I mean yeah, Morrowind definitely does suck the big chungus. What's there to talk about.
>>
I hope we will get fallout 3 remastered tomorrow

Bethesda bad. Morrowind good. Larian good.
>>
>didn't work on morrowind himself
Opinion discarded
>>
it's no coincidence that canonically Morrowind the province gets completely BTFO. Bethesda has resented the game's cult classic status ever since Skyrim exponentially grew the TES fanbase.
they're doing the same with Fallout and the west coast. 1 & 2 are mega-cringe by these standards.
>>
>>732191576
Wow, even Bethesda is getting salty over Morrowind's continued popularity. Not to worry, they can make some dumbed down slop and the masses will eat it up anyway. I don't get why they're intent on showing their insecurities over this...
>>
It's kinda funny how there are so many Morrowind threads just as I played through the game recently.

I actually really like how Morrowind's dialogue system works. When they throw paragraphs at you, you can just skim all of the information really fast and then click on keywords if you want them to explain something. I wish they'd bring that back. Admittedly, I wish the game had quest markers. Their directions aren't perfect and I've had to look up locations using the internet.
>>
>Bruce Nesmith, who's worked for Bethesda for over 17 years said the fans have shit taste

Kek
>>
>>732191576
Retarded, same as it ever was.
>>
>>732191576
obviously, the combat is completely broken, though that's what makes spellmaking fun
all of the dungeons share like 5 tilesets throughout the whole game
95% of all quests are errands
2/3 of the overworld is drab and barren that mostly looks the same
if it was remade it would be crowned king of uncslop
>>
>>732191576
add a quest marker mod and I would play it again. Having to read the fucking map for every single quest stinks
>>
>>732191946
>Their directions aren't perfect and I've had to look up locations using the internet.
Apperently the map was quite changed from previous alterations plus the game originally came with a map for you with all locations so whenever some faggot claims "no map is part of the charm" they're just bullshitting you.

However as said because of the changes a lot of minor quests often give you completly wrong directions which is retarded. Wish there was a way to have the map poster display ingame because needing to have a second screen open sucks.

Faggot never played Morrowind
>>
>>732191926
Vvardenfell getting destroyed was a decision from Michael Kirkbride himself. He intentionally did this so Bethesda couldn't ruin it, which is extremely petty but also based.
>>
I played it for the first time only 2 years ago. It's great. Just need to use the difficulty mod or it completely breaks at level 20 and nothing can hurt you anymore.
>>
>>732191576
Morrowind with updated gameplay is definitely a game I would play again

What is his point?
>>
>>732191946
It actually kind of sucked ass at release because it wouldn't grey out the options you already picked or highlight new ones like it does with modern mods. When an NPC only has a few options it's not that bad. It gets really annoying when there's like 30.

Nothing, 4chan retards get giddy at multiple outcomes in quests meme.

Videogames have always had dog shit writing compared to other media so you just end up with less interesting set pieces and but more bad writing.

I liked it in undertale because it actually had a real effect not just on the world but in gameplay as well.
>>
>>732191926
Do they even love anything? At least I get why they resent Fallout New Vegas because it's not theirs, but surely they would have a modicum of respect for their own past creation.
>>
>"Morrowind remaster"

Would it still be Morrowind? Bumbling around the early game with low-level skills, nothing working, is like a rite of passage.
>>
>>732191576
theres not even any quest markers and oh boy the UX design...
>>
>>732194289
Why would they respect games that better people who no longer work for the company made? They must hate the idea Daggerfall and Morrowind have such dedicated cult followings
>>
>>732191576
Yeah, I still go back and play it on occasion now.
He thinks people wouldn't want a new game with that kind of writing, customization, and unique setting?
What kind of braindead opinion is this?
>>
>>732194394
>the UX design
I miss elder scrolls UIs being designed for PC instead of console.
>>
>>732194289
>Bethesda resents making money
Shouldn't you fags be glad they rather make new games instead of ruining old ones?
>>
>>732192570

>>
>>732191576
> Nesmith originally worked at Bethesda in the 1990s as a designer for The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall before leaving the company. He did not return to Bethesda until 2004, two years after Morrowind was released.

ah i get it now, this faggot ass dev is buttmad he left and they produced kino afterwards.
>>
>>732195094
Identifying and sorting out scrolls/potions was a pain the the ass for sure but the rest of the UI was perfectly usable. I miss being able to pin certain windows to the screen.
>>
>>732191576
Morrowing definitely has its flaws but to say that nobody can enjoy it today is plain fucking wrong.
I have played it through again in the last couple years, enjoyed it a whole lot. Like >>732191946 says, the dialogue system with keywords is a good way to get a lot of info and worldbuilding since you don't have to bother with voice acting.

Man, even playing Arktwend, which uses Morrowind as a base, has been enjoyable. It's just a solid game.
>>
>>732191576
morrowind remake, then?
checkmate, bethesda employee named bruce banner

>>732191946
i, too, played through it recently... morrowind hivemind...
i shall be starting a new game of it, to see if i can overcome every common disease in the game AND the tamriel data mod files

i like the loredump dialogue, its nice to imagine two dudes talking about fuckin... the geography of vvardenfell for like a half hour then divine metaphysics for another half hour lol

and then one dude tries complimenting the other's shoes constantly and pisses him off enough to start a fight

I am literally about to install Tamriel Rebuilt specifically to play Morrowind again. but more.
>>
>>732192919
they can't make games like that, their cultivated retard audience doesn't want games like that, but they know that this is a decline and they're coping
>>
>>732192072
With mods it is still an enjoyable walking simulator, and when you're tired of walking you can stop in at the local library and read a few of books. Last year I returned to Morrowind after two decades, and it kept me entertained for about 20 hours or so. That was quite enough. I can't understand the people who install Tamriel Rebuilt because they need twenty times more of this stuff, especially when the progression is so broken.

It is too easy to become powerful in the early game, you just hit the dungeons straight away and then quickly move up to Daedric temples. Before you know it, you are mighty and rich. Using a spear makes things even easier as you continually backpedal and outreach your braindead opponents. The only real trouble arises when mages permanently drain your strength and you must take time to remove the overburdened debuff. Then, you teleport back to town, drop all your shit on the ground, find a curative, and then go back to the spot to pick your shit up again. (No need to worry, all your stuff will be where you left it. In this highly realistic, simulated world, thieves don't steal anything you leave lying around unattended.) But this process doesn't create what I'd call an interesting challenge. It just wastes some of your time.
>>
>>732191576
While I don't agree with his sentiment and still love Morrowind to this day, this implies that they're not even considering making a remake that would make fundamental changes to the gameplay, which is honestly a based approach
And, well, he knows what he's talking about, if Morrowind clicks with you, it's great, but most people trying it for the first time nowadays would fucking hate it. He's 100% right

That was less a problem with the UI directly and more corner cutting with the icons.
There's just so much info simultaneously displayed and easily accessible when the UI is built for dragging a cursor over instead of tapping through with a controller.

i played it for the first time last year because i skipped it back in the day since i was obsessed with UT99 and all other first person games sucked in comparison and i have to say it was probably the best gaming experience i had, i got home from work and the first thing i wanted to do was boot morrowind, i thought i was becoming a bitter old fuck since i don't enjoy new games, turns out i was right and new games do suck ass
>>
There is no practical difference in how shallow Morrowind and Skyrim combats are
>>
>>732191946
I like the potential of the Morrowind dialog system, it makes sense in certain cases like if you do a little favor for someone in a town then later you go back for a different quest then they can now be your "contact" that can tell you secret information that you need a high affinity to unlock. It's not like you can't have specific dialog trees that are for only one character like normal RPG dialog, that's how the conversation with Vivec goes for example.

This obviously gets blown out by easily abusable mechanics like bribing but they just trashed it all for Oblivion instead of refining it so it ends up looking like a dead end.
>>
>Let's make our realtime 3D combat engine RNG based!

What the FUCK were they thinking
>>
>>732203008
they were thinking : "Our audience is 2000s PC nerds who love math and weird stuff"
Then somehow xbox normalfags loved it too, that made bethesda realize their next game should be made with consoles in mind first
>>
>>732191576
the only problem morrowind has feedback and not bashing people with the reality of this being a more hardcore rpg where player skill matters less than character skill
you're expected to suck when you're spamming iron dagger attacks with 5 short blade and 0 fatigue
the game just needs to give you shit animations that show you missing or the enemy dodging
