which was admittedly kind of gen 3's problem too, but we forgave it because of all the QOL improvements.
In this case, it was just too much to overlook. Even just booting the game up, the opening cutscene is extremely meh after R/S/E's

That all being said, Heart Gold and Soul Silver are absolutely fantastic so gen 4 ended up breaking even and then some in the long run.

The lack of omorashi mechanics involving the Pokemon.

Platinum is one of my favorites in the series. It fixed many of DPs problems.
I miss third versions that fix problems and slightly tweak the story.

people dont like when i say this but dppt really is a retread of gen 3 like what does it bring to the table that gen 3 doesnt besides the physical/special split
at least hgss added some fun little side things but dppt is the most stagnant game in the series to me, not to say i hate it or anything, its just stagnant
