Fun fact! The worker who Dire Straits based the lyrics for this song on never said "chicks for free." Mark Knopfler even asked him and was corrected. It should have been "checks for free." He was complaining about his co-worker, not the TV itself. As in "you keep whining as if you get money for nothing and checks for free." There was also a nature show playing at the store, not MTV.
