>game devs listens to competitive players
>game gets ruined
It's all so tiresome.
>>
But we'll get more twitch viewers!
That means more money, right?
...right?
>>
>>732207774
>the sweaty obsessive freaks that play our game for excessive and preposterous amounts of time shouldn't be listened to
I mean, obviously catering to these people will almost inevitably mean alienating larger demographics of players... but I understand why they do it. At face value it is reasonable to listen to the people that are most engaged with your product. Too bad it backfires lmao

>game dev listens to nobody but themselves
>but they're retarded and only got a game as fun as they did by mostly copying another game's homework
>game dies in less than 2 months
>>
>>732210440
The best games were made without any fan service or input from consumers
>>
>>732210557
Yeah, but that only works if they pass step 2 of not being retarded and just copying other people.
>>
Still waiting for CS2 to have maps from CSGO
>>
So their target audience?
>>
>>732208650
It makes sense on the face of it but comp players play things that are relevant and things are relevant because they have tons of players or viewers which is almost a 90-10% split in favor of casuals that like a bit of fun so the game doesn't get stale
Nobody cares about quake so nobody cares about who's the best at it, simple as doesn't matter how well the game works in 1v1
>>
Fuck halo but it's really funny how pros got a gun the mangler that was only slightly better than the BR nerfed into the ground to the point theirs zero for it to exist now.
Itwas a pickup and was harder to use as it took 3 hits to kill with final headshot and had far slower bullet travel
All of that talk about muh skill and shit but nope all they do is just bully the games direction to something they are comfortable with already and fuck everyone else
>>
>>732207774
>game devs listen to the casual shitters who play 1hr a week
>game becomes shallow and boring
this is a lot more common.
>>
>>732211312
We already went through this with the DMR multiple times. People don't want something different.
>>
>>732211395
I should have known Genshin would have ended up like this. The wide breadth of content was only there to get me hooked.
>>
>>732211413
It's halos biggest issue. The BR is not the some ultimate fun weapon like say the TF2 rocket launcher
It's boring, and being plonked at accross map gets old
The entire series being built around it is why halo is dead now
Good riddance
>>
People these days have fucking horrible handwriting
>>
>>732207774
I never understood why as a game dev you would listen to literally anyone
dont you play your own game? dont you enjoy gaming and know what you want?
are the devs just working 9 to 5 in the studio and dont own a pc at home or what?
why would you even become a vidya dev in the first place if thats the case you could make much more money in software development
>>
>>732211983
The devs don't get to make these decisions the money men on top do and it makes sense that "if we get comp player approval more people will play comp and I will also get a billion trillion dollars on my cash store from comp addicted retards watching esports which also provides free advertising"
>>
>>732211983
players have time and distance. they can build consensus that devs either don't have the combined man hours to reach or the perspective biased by development.
>>
>>732208421
Yes, but we'll make it a flavor of the month humanitarian spiel so we can divide the playerbase into squabbling culture war fanatics, and they'll be so mad at each other that they'll ignore that we're doing this to pump and dump.

WORKS EVERY TIME.
>>
>>732211983
The problem is less the actual hard working developers, and more the management that only want to see results magically appear. They will have a weekend blockbuster that rakes in half the planet's population AND sweeps every award to exist with endless accolades, or they will just pull the plus and call it a loss while hoarding the IP like a dragon.

Yep Ubisoft balanced R6 siege according to the feedback of their esport tournament players. The game started to slowly lose players when that happened eventually going f2p but the damage was done.
