How did they make such a revolutionary title in such a short timeframe, I'm thinking every dev should outsource the design of terrain to a trusted third party studio.
They took Ubisoft's open world formula and slapped a Nintendo brand on it, guaranteed billions in sales
>>732208017>open world = ubisoftGood criticism, it's sure to catch on /v/
>>732208017It was a new start for Zelda, after half a dozen of increasingly railroaded games, coupled with a very strong but low-key sense of aesthetic. At the time it felt very unique and seemed like a bold move to make for Nintendo. For better or worse it's almost like one of those "cozy" games that women love so much.
>>732208017They did exactly not that
>>732209264>>732208178They took the Ubisoft towers and made them actually useful. You don't get icon vomit on your map, you get a better view and spot some points of interest. It's pretty simple but gets overlooked often
>>732209965You realize ubishit games already were like that if you played on higher difficulty level than normal?
>>732209965Just ignore the icons
>>732209965They took Tingle from MM and the chart drawing fishes from WW.
>>732207856>How did they make such a revolutionary title in such a short timeframe,It was being worked for SIX YEARS. That's not "short" on any metric.>>732208017Incorrect on all statements. For starters, Ubishit parroted Nintendo since day 1.Second, BotW was LITERAL cure to all the Ubishit cancers that had been brewing since the mid-00s. It's a truly OPEN open-world adventure game, that does not gatekeep you in any way, and instead provides crazy amounts of toys and systems to interact with, resulting as many unique ways to play the game as there are people on this planet. It's practically THE adventure game of the future we 1980s' kids imagined to play in the new millennium.

Forgot that it was still impossible to discuss both BOTW and TOTK in good faith on this fucking boardWhen will the senseless seething end? It's been almost a fucking decade
>>732210797When the entire narrative around the game was manufactured by Nintendo about how they invented things that have been standard in games for decades before, it's going to be hard to have a good faith discussion about it
>>732210931>When the entire narrative around the game was manufactured by Nintendo about how they invented things that have been standard in games for decades beforeI'm afraid this only happened inside your rotten brain
>>732211010Hello Nintendo marketer man
>>732210931good morning sir
>>732210797Most likely neverThe Switch and BOTW assfucked /v/ like never beforeNiggers will never recover
Flagrant fanboy thread outside of your containment zone>>>/vp/
>>732210797There's a schizo going around zelda threads baiting with lousy criticism
>>732207856>Short timeframe>6 years for copypaste content that is less compelling than the content they delivered when they were literally learning how to make 3D games from scratchOpenworld is a scam, most of its content can be generated with just a layered math function.Ultimately open world exists so that development can meander without hitting milestones, delivering on time, staying in budget or having a good central idea, because of course open world will take more time to make. Any competent upper management would kill these projects instead of letting them use excuses until the sunk costs pile up.At the very least Breath of the Wild had a massive advantage, since it's likely that competent oversight was brought in to the project just to wrap it up in a neat bow for the Switch launch, but the more recent releases that have been emboldened by the success of BotW had no such benefit.
>>732210797When the next game comes out, as is the endless Zelda cycle
>>732210432six years is nothing when delivering a masterpiece on the level of Botw
>>732210797These are among the most critically panned games of all time. Why are you surprised when people don’t like them?
>>732213082This, it takes a long time to reskin every asset from a Ubisoft game
>>732213265Jackdaw in Botw 3 trust the plan
>first time tendies play a Ubisoft open world game is in 2017>its totally new to them and they can’t understand why people don’t feel the same way
