Help me find a specific type of game, /v/I played FFXIV but found the only part i really enjoyed was Palace of the Dead.As far as I know this is a Roguelite, but I specifically like the 3D camera view (not top down or isometric or pixel art), the ability to choose classes from the start, and the focus on gaining and using abilities to fight rather than just attacking (so, no souls games)Is there any decent standalone game like this i can try? Can be single or multiplayer, old or new, western or jap doesnt matter.
I don't think there's really anything that will fit your bill but more Deep Dungeons but you'd probably also like dungeon crawlers as a rule of thumb
>>732209038I don't play games filled with cheaters
>>732210417Idiot
>>732209038It doesn't match the art style or gaining abilities really, but you could try Rabbit & Steel, it's a lightly roguelite boss rush with FF14 combat and mechanics
>>732209038It's limited to a single class but you might enjoy XIM, which is a game that uses FFXI as a base and has somewhat similar fights to FF14 as you get further. The only difference is that the floors aren't as challenging(bosses can be more challenging) and there's no perma death, it's closer to something like Stranger of Paradise(which could potentially appeal to you since you can keep swapping jobs to get more abilities).XIM is free to check out though, you get a new ability after every floor because you play as a Blue Mage so it might fit the bill. https://aamace.itch.io/xim
I'm not sure sorry
just play factorio
>>732209038What the hell is that dungeon map? I heard FFXIV was pretty retarded in dungeon design, but that surely is representative of the whole game is it?
>>732211837No it's a roguelite-ish side mode called a Deep Dungeon, it's blocky by design
>Rabbit & Steel>Risk of Rain 2Both roguelites that have classes. They don't exactly fit the bill but you're gonna have to take some liberties.>Dragon's Dogma>XenobladeOften described as 'single player MMOs'. I personally thought DD was complete garbage, but it's worth trying out to see if you like it.Never played Xenoblade but from the little bit of gameplay I've seen, it looks like MMO slop.>Monster Hunter>Deep Rock GalacticCurveball answers. For Monster Hunter, you're gonna want to check out Generations Ultimate (MHGU) and Rise since they both have abilities. MHGU has more fun abilities but you have to emulate it since it's not on PC.DRG has four classes, each having multiple primary and secondary weapons that you can customize and tweak to fit your playstyle. Doesn't have a big focus on abilities as you'll mostly be shooting. Both of these are very grindy games but if you like them, then you're gonna get a lot of playtime from them.
>>732209038dunno, but would be interested in this too OP
PSO Blue Burst is the game you want, if you dont mind sci fi aesthetic over fantasy. Otherwise it fits the bill
>>732213324preferably something that looks/plays like less than a 30 year old game
>>732213523>>732213324OP hereOld is fine for me, PSO looks good. I dont know who this guy is
>>732209038>rogueliteNoYou are looking for Mystery Dungeon, which while a subgenre of Roguelikes (with a k)>but I specifically like the 3D camera view (not top down or isometric or pixel art)Well you're going to be shit out of luck as XIV's Palace of the Dead is specifically copying Tactics Ogre's dungeon by the same name, including the same final boss.https://tacticsogre.fandom.com/wiki/Palace_of_the_Deadhttps://store.steampowered.com/app/1178790/Shiren_the_Wanderer_The_Tower_of_Fortune_and_the_Dice_of_Fate/Any of the Shiren games would be closest in similarity, or the Pokemon mystery dungeon games for that flavorThere's also dungeon crawlers for gear progression and the like:Etrian series, i'd recommend just emulating them on the DS/3DS if you have it. I can't say for sure what the steam versions may have changed as I haven't played the steam ones.Touhou flavored dungeon crawler2: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1131920/LABYRINTH_OF_TOUHOU__GENSOKYO_AND_THE_HEAVENPIERCING_TREE/3: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3067930/Labyrinth_of_Touhou_Tri_The_Dreaming_Girls__The_Mysterious_Orbs/More SMT-like but frequent dungeon crawling: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2248430/Touhou_Artificial_Dream_in_Arcadia/Hack n slash in a long tower if you're really averse to RPG.https://store.steampowered.com/app/207350/Ys_Origin/>>732212453Deep Rock Galactic would be an oddball but its kinda sorta the same situation of exploring a singular floor, escaping, then moving on to the next one. BIG stretch though.>>732213324Kinda sorta. The areas are too small and samey IMO I wouldn't quite recommend it to someone looking for a dungeon crawler.
>>732213964Cut off my train of thought while thinking of games>which while a subgenre of Roguelikes (with a k)doesn't reset progress completely on death, usually you just lose things you're currently carrying turning the game into sort of a risk reward scenario while exploring floors and avoiding rooms.A similar note, Recettear sort of fits this bill too for the exploration sections.
