ORE WA GORGEOUS
AAAAAAAHHH IMPACTOOOOOOO
>>
I was really impressed they kept this even for the Western release when it wasn't so long ago that they were naming Ebisumaru "Dr. Yang" and Goemon "Kid Yin".

Fuck off

This game was my first real introduction to Japanese culture and I fucking loved it.

I mean they did cut nearly all of the JP dubbing for cutscenes
And they ultimately wound up cutting the intro and Double Impact from the NA release of the sequel. What a shame

Why were the villains Supreme Kai's?

This was disappointing, but is at least somewhat excusable as a "capacity" thing, but I still wish they would have gone ONLY with Japanese voice rather than trying to push English which was usually horrible..though that was the norm back then.

Shit, I must have forgotten this. I vaguely remember when I emulated it all of that was intact but its possible I was using a romhack/mod that restored everything or fan-translated the JP version etc.

Also here's the original for anons who don't remember it, what OP's pic is from

This is the full JP version, but consider how much of a mind fuck it was for the average N64-playing nerd to hear THIS - and it was even properly subtitled - at a time when almost all stuff that was
>too Japanese or too 'weird'
was homogenized out of games. Also keep in mind this is who sung it - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ichirou_Mizuki - who was basically a fucking legend in terms of anime and toku themes! If there was a "manly" anime song about burning hearts and steely justice, its a good chance this guy was singing it.

RIP, Ichirou Aniki.

BREAK OUT!
>>

He died so early too, for a Japanese guy. Maybe he lived especially hard but he left behind such a body of work that nobody can really doubt his contributions. The fact an entire industry called you "aniki" was a huge thing over there, but that's what happens when you have a 50 year career more or less.

it's wild that we're calling it early when he was 74, but for 2022 and a japanese guy yeah I guess it is. fucking Masako Nozawa has been voicing Goku since 1984, is 89 years old and is some sort of Lich that looks like she's in her 50's

they also literally call him the Emperor of Animeson lyricists and put KAGEYAMA below him as 'Prince'
