Your GPU DOES have at least 16GB of VRAM, right?
So what is the truth do amd drivers still suck? I cant get a clear answer online.
>>732213872what would I need it for?
>>732213872>she thinks 16 GB is enough in 2026
>bought 4060 a year ago>now with ram shortage no one will be selling budget gpus with more than 8 gb vram for a long time so my 4060 will be relevant for a long timeFeelsgoodman, ps6 will probably have 12 gigs of vram 5 years from now
>>732213872Let me look at the package uuuhm>16GB GDDR6>GEFORCE RTX 4060Ti>VENTU BLACK 2X>OC EDITIONLooking at specififactions>Memory Bus: 128-bit>Output: DisplayPort x3 / HDMI x1
>>732213872No, and it does not need to.Any game worth jack shit runs smooth as butter on a 6GB DDR5, at native 1080p and native 60fps. If (You)r game cannot provide this, it's not worth even pirating.
>buy 9070 16GB for $530much better
>>732213872>rx 6800yeah midrange cards have had it for over 5 years now
>>732213872>5070 Ti for ~$750Those cocksuckers start at $1,000
>>732213872yes
>>732213960their drivers are good this gen. the downside with their cards is lacking good upscaling like dlss and their cards are always more power hungry.
>>732213872I have 12 and the most you can get on a consumer card is 24. Anything beyond that is for professional use, and that much more expensive. The difference between 16 and 12GB VRAM is pretty noticeable, but not within the margin of performance if you know anything about game optimization.
I have a 5070 with 12 GB, plays everything I throw at it @ 1080p.
>>732214546>yeah midrange cards have had it for over 5 years nowMan sometimes it is hard to forget how little people on /v/ invest into a hobby they supposedly think about 24/7.
>>732214832The 6800xt is a enthusiast grade card. It is in the top 1% of elite video cards.
DAS RITE
>>732213872DIE, AMD SHILL
>>732214832What's the point of overspending?
>>732213960Here, the clean, short answer you're looking for:AMD drivers are good, their GPUs work great. But Nvidia is still better.
>>732213872If I switch to linux, would I be better off going with a 9070XT? I'm using a 3080 right now.
>>732215880yep but it's because the linux nvidia drivers are dogshit
>>732214598>bought one >undervolted to the max>barely reach 200W total energy consumptionfeels good
>>732214725Fact man.A AMD card will almost always hit max power draw and so it has more heat so its fans have to spin harder. An 4090 under 100% gpu usage is dead silent and in 99% of cases never goes above 350 watts
>>732213872Nope I got 4gb. Dont need anymore sorry OP
20 GB of VRAM and 32 GB of RAM. I get to run mid-tier ai models on my computer when I feel like it.
>>732213872>6750XTyup yup!
any game that doesn't run in a 8gb gpu will flop
good deal or shit deal? $2399 AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (4.7GHz) Processor Gigabyte B850 Gaming WiFi6 Motherboard 32GB DDR5-6000 RAM NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 WINDFORCE Graphics Card 2TB NVMe SSD Gigabit LAN, WiFi 6 (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.3 Windows 11 Home
Why yes, I do use it for AI and am the reason why your RAM is so expensive.
>>732216619I run mid tiers with 8GB, son. Up your game.
I just wanted a 5090 close to msrp prices..
can't remember, to be honest
>>732213872You current gpu will be the last you own, shit are leaving for the cloud and monthly sub, good luck.
>>732217078If it's a 16B model or smaller it's shit and you aren't running one of those without waiting 30 seconds a response with tiny context.
>>732216836yes, what psu and case?
>>732213872yes, and i'm selling my old 4070 super above MSRP
>>732217782case, PowerSpec/Lian Li ATX 205 Meshunknown psu, Power Supply 850 WattI had a better PSU in my main tower that I could swap it with though.
>>7322138726800XT, so yes.>>732213960Pick a known good driver package, stick with it until a new game you want to play needs a new game-ready driver or a new software package introduces a feature you want.Always check users' experiences online before updating.Use DDU.Follow these simple steps and you'll have no major software issues with AMD.
>>732216836>>732218127yes thats a very good deal
>>732216956No, the reason RAM is expensive now is because OpenAI reserved like 40% of the year's memory supply
>>732213872I am fine with my 6gb card, the games i play barely reach 80% usage
>>732213960they're both mediocre phone insat least with amd you have brilliant linux drivers, the best ones in the industry
>>732213872Nope 4060 8gb laptop version. The performance is all over the place.
>>732216836I don't get why they keep putting the windows home version on those expensive pcs instead of pro.
>>732213872There is nothing I'm interested in playing that requires that much VRAM and I have zero intention of upgrading anymore.>>732213960I had an RX480 and RX5700XT - they were both dogshit with constant driver crashes, the latter of which is apparently infamous for being a shitty card. Got a friend with a RX7900 or w/e and he says It Works On His Machine(TM) but either way I'm done with AMD. They used to be GOAT'd but not anymore. I blame all the poojeets fucking it all up like they do with everything else.
>>732216836where are you buying it chud? hit me up with a link, I need to upgrade
>>732218612microcenter near me in MD
>>732218696pretty sure it is local pick up only, soz boss
>>732218696>tried to do a similar build with a microcenter in my state and it was like 3.8kwhat the fuck
>>732213872Not a single videogame needs all that
>>732213989I play games like elin though
>>732213872Hopped in the last train just after New year to buy a PC after years of Ps5 gaming. Went with all AMD build and 9070xt. Im hoping this build will last me 10 years at least.
>>732218313/biz/ continues to beat /v/ like a drum.
>>732218794yeah fuck it I'm gonna buy it and part out my current pc, I could make at least 1000 off the parts. so it won't feel too bad buying this.
>>732218861What if I enjoy making slop?
512mb and i can still run 99% of modern games, lrn2config
>>732219010/biz/raelis are still trading crypto in the big 26
>>732213960I have a 9070XT.The best thing I can say about them is that they technically work. The problem is that they're a little unstable, the software stops working sometimes so you have to force kill it through the task manager and there's still no Vulkan support. And a lot of the features pertaining to ray tracing have no implementation in any game yet, so while it technically performs fine now it's nowhere near complete.Image generation/AI got decent with the last update though if you care about that kind of thing.
>>732219179512mb is far from enough for AI models
>>732218572>he didn't know>he didn't know for an entire decade
>>732218508Because you immediately install Linux anyway.
>>732213872I'm going to make it through 2026 hopefully
