You're specifically naming launchers that you can also buy things from. All 3rd party key sites should also be counted.
>Greenmangaming
>Fanatical
>Humble
Those 3 are big ones in the space

Not really, only epic jeets feel the need to yell and scream about their shit store. Your posting this also goes against it.

This is the only way I'll even get close to using Steam. All game launchers are dogshit, games should be launched like any other program on your computer, directly through an executable or a shortcut period.

steam offers family sharing with up to 5 other accounts
is your definition of ownership solely oriented around selling plastic?
>>
>>732218692
Ownership is when the thing you bought can no longer be taken back or altered by the entity that sold you the thing, you're thinking on underage level or something to not understand this simple concept?
>>
>>732215882
I only use steam because it's convenient, I have no reason to not use the competition when it's convenient, I prefer GOG to be honest.
I'm not so retarded as to go out of my way to buy games on Steam if they're cheaper or free elsewhere. Brand loyalty is retarded and if you feel loyalty towards Valve you're no different from a consolefag.
>>
>>732218813
show an example of valve taking someone's game away?

You mean like they removed valid cdkey activated games from people's accounts many times in the past? Or how they literally replaced CSGO with inferior version of the game? Do you still think that having a "game" on Steam means no one can fuck with it to your detriment? I must be talking to actual retard here because this tangent should've ended a while ago.

Nobody knows what a monopoly is anymore, they look at the current tech market and see everything is perfectly fine but get shocked when prices start to get gouged. But oh no, steam is the real monopoly, goys!
>>
>>732217737
Yeah bro, true ownership is when I can run the .exe from a dusty drive 15 years later without begging a launcher or logging into some dead account. All these "launchers" are just glossy DRM wrappers-Steam included. CS.RIN or bust.

The point of the thread is to say that Steam is not a monopoly. I gave 3 important examples that OP did not include, because he seems to think that a launcher is the only thing that constitutes competition. The launcher doesn't matter in the slightest when taking consideration if something is a monopoly or not, as that's not what makes the money. It's the fact that there is a shop within the launcher.

>the point is it's not a monopoly unlike what thousands of schizo threads in the last few months have been trying to get away with claiming
correct? I'm not sure what you're trying to say. I simply mentioned 3 shops that help prove the point far better than what OP mentioned
