How do the people of Night City make enough money to survive? 99% of them just stand still not doing anything, or move from one seat to another. That's not very productive.
>>732216206parade your autism somewhere else please. you're making yourself look retarded.
Illicit activities.
>>732216206thats just america
do they all get free gibs? NC doesn't seem like the kind of place that would give free gibs
>>732217895*SQUAWK*
>>732216206E trading and on holo calls all day
>>732216206The NPCs you see standing around are actually just cattle. They're the meat that goes in those burritos
>>732216206By the old lore, they don’t. Following the U.S collapse tens of millions just straight up died with millions more left homeless. The lowest earners basically live in closet-sized apartments and subsist themselves on what is essentially dogfood.
>>732221558If their living conditions are so poor why don't they just skip town and live like nomads?
>>732216206They search nearby boxes and suitcases for lvl5 crafting components duh. >>732221558It's no wonder that they backdash INTO my car and summon police every time I try to do one of those car driving quests.
>>732221779because most nomad clans aren't doing much better
Warehouse/ShippingManufacturing/LabsRetail/HospitalityBlack Market/Grey MarketGang/CartelCorp/GovernmentThere are a lot of jobs, but most of them are shit. And don't pay enough. Your best bet is to get a job, have a side hustle selling info, favors, product, services, etc. It would actually be pretty easy to survive if you live somewhere like Northside. Obviously, your chances of actually staying alive aren't that high due to gang warfare, corporate governance a 5th generational warefare, pollution, and a number of other terrible things. Night City sucks. Your best bet is to leave ASAP.
>>732216206now you reminded me that this game used to advertise NPC having life cycles like Shenmue
>>732221558The gang of four waged a war to cement their own power and annihilate the democratic process, they purged the middle class and crippled the military. They are why those millions were initially culled. The corporate wars just finished them off.
>>732221779that’s literally what the original nomads are. the destitute guys who skipped town to wander and actually managed to survive by forming their own groups. most were ex-military dudes and career criminals.
>>732216206Passive income. Learn about it.
Probably UBI
>>732222792There's some leftovers of it in the game, a youtuber covered it. But yeah 99.9% of the NPCs are just cardboard cutouts that do absolutely nothing with no scheduling.
is there anywhere left in this timeline were people could basically return to monke and live peacefully farming/hunting?
>>732222792and in the end we got a game were the NPCs literally don't even leave or enter buildings, the NPCs in them are just spawned and will stand there 24/7 until you go far enough way for them to despawn.I think they really did want to create bethesda/R* style NPCs have a level of dynamic interactions to them, but at some point realized it's harder than it seems which is why so few companies bother to do it. The TES & GTA devs started doing this shit in the early 2000s, while even with witcher 3 CDPR did nothing dynamic with the NPCs, again they're just pretty shells with only very basic AI behind them.
>>732223820nah, people don't get benefits like that unless they're corp, even then. Those benefits are limited and have an expiration date. I believe the NUSA (militech) does still have a social security net, but it's predicated on military service.
>>732225812Yeah, in the third world. but you're also dealing with heavy pollution, many extinct crops, animals and insects. Volatile weather patterns due to atmospheric manipulation and war. Lastly, and the most important one, disease. And not the kind that has cures, the bio-engineered kind.
>>732225812lol no, either corps have their greasy fingers in it or its an uninhabitable wasteland like hong kong
>>732216206>How do the people of Night City make enough money to survive? What makes someone a criminal? Getting caught.Implying most people do bad things to survive
