As strange as it sounds, I think a problem Nintendo is having nowadays besides wanting to make everything open world is putting so much focus on gameplay, they forget to spice things up. I love both Mario kart world and dk bananza but I think they prioritized their gimmicks much more than their switch 1 counterparts did. Odyssey’s capture mechanic isn’t nearly as deep or free form as bananza’s environment destruction and bananza mechanics, yet the sheer amount of captures compared to the bananza forms keep you always wondering what’s up next whereas it’s a little more predictable to see what you’ll be doing next in bananza. Likewise, while 8’s anti gravity barely changed anything, especially when compared to world, but the spectacle seen with anti gravity made most stages more adventurous, almost like a rollercoaster, comparatively, even if I’m one of the few who like intermissions, it’s undeniable that they aren’t as eye catching, and while the tricks help out in terms of spectacle, it leaves less skilled players less interested in the game. I wonder if that’s why they’re leaning on galaxy so hard since that’s the most spectacle focused Mario game
>>732221529Nintendo has no idea what the fuck they're doing, they're just chasing trends and producing increasingly disposable slop while they checklist their libaries with regurgitate installments in their tired IP and bundle their slop with their box pretending it's selling well because people want the slop. It only works until it doesn't.
