Which direction would you personally take the Mario series?

I'd have make a two team system. Team A makes the big games. Once per gen then churn out a Mario Odyssey tier game. Team B would churn out yearly 2D Marios. Simple, by the book, 8 worlds with a special world, 2D Mario. If there's one thing Mario Maker has proven it's that 99.9% of people suck at designing good Mario levels. Nintendo should devote a team to just making good 2D Mario content.

who cares, it makes money just by existing, it's in the peak consumption era of its lifecycle. if I were in a position of control I'd just go "sure whatever" and rubberstamp everything for a royalty check like Detours-era George Lucas.
