>25 year old emulator

Sasuga emulator-kun.
>>
ds3 has pressure sensitive buttons, works fine

It works fine.

Use PCSX2 version 1.7.2761 or older
Use the Lilypad plugin
Use DsHidMini to configure
You now have a fully working Dualshock 2.
>>
>>732227769
>>732227832
Lacks self calibrating analog sticks and the analog button, DS2 also does not have triggers making it an inaccurate experience. No SA/DS3 era sticks match the resistance found in DS2.

It is inherently highly inaccurate.
>>
>>732228069
just buy 5 dollar ps2 then fucking autismo
>>
There is nothing wrong with using Dualshock 4 for every game on PCSX2. Don't (You) me, I don't care that you wanna go back in time to being nine.
>>
DS2 fucking sucks
i'm glad i can use better controllers
>>
Dualshock 3 works fine, >>732228069
when the fuck have you ever needed the analog button. Cope as much as you want but DS3 is a perfectly good solution.
>>
>>732228068
>>732227613
I read some of the VR missions in MGS 2 are impossible to max out on emu without using the PS2's pressure bullshit buttons. Would the DS3 be fine?
>>
>>732229370
>when the fuck have you ever needed the analog button
Sky Odyssey comes to mind, many games use it to convert button presses from analog to digital inputs. Just a few years ago your kind were pretending the analog buttons were rarely used and only used in niche games, niche games such as grand fucking theft auto and gran fucking turismo the highest selling games on the console.

You are not the authority here and need to accept these are flaws, and should want them *fixed.* You embarrassing console warrior failure.
>>
>>732230007
then fucking get an actual ps2 with mx4sio you fucking faggot jesus Christ you're given an alternative and you're throwing a fucking tantrum you fucking retard you just want to bitch and moan
>>
>>732229370
>>732227769
what is the best third party controller with dualshock-like shape and face sensitive buttons?
like 80% of my gaming hours are using PCSX2, but new DS3s are non existent and even if I got one, I'd rather have an usb c controller
I've seen a few controllers fulfilling these requirements but they are either autism snes like controllers or xbox clones
>>
How many ps2 games actually use pressure sensitive controls? The only major ps2 games I could think of are MGS2 and MGS3 and both have modern ports that work around it
>>
>>732231004
About 2000 games according to official documentation.
>>
>>732231004
silent hill 2
gran turismo
burnout

most of them are super gimmicky shit
https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/List_of_console_games_that_support_pressure-sensitive_buttons
>>
>>732231004
ace combat, gta, burnout, gran turismo
of course its not game breaking or anything, but half presses are a thing when driving
>>
>>732231004
>both have modern ports that work around it
By that, you mean they remove some functionality.
>>
>>732231004
Star Ocean 3 made use of it for playing the flute.
>>
Psxc2 schizo thread

You should kill yourself btw. What's wrong retard. Mad you can't use gow as a example anymore?

Also you are underage. The old versions did allow it. They removed it because because the official Sony drivers are fucking outdated and do was lilypad. There's literally nothing stopping you from using a ds2 adapter for pc plus dshdmini the fucking devs out right tell you to do so.

>Noooo but it's made by a brony!
It's fucking open source you stupid cunt. Make a fork or use scptoolkit if you're that retarded

>>
>>732235313
It's supremely based actually.
>>
>>732235073
The Dreamcast had it too I believe
When playing Metropolis Street Racer, how much pressure you put on the trigger afters how fast your car goes, just like driving a car irl. Although that doesn't really matter because you're pressing the triggers all the way through all the time
>>
>>732231004
A lot of racing games used the pressure sensitive face buttons to dictate acceleration before triggers became common.
>>
I just started messing with PCSX2 a couple days ago. Haven't had this much fun gaming in at least a decade.

>>732231004
GT4 has your throttle and brake pressure in the UI
>>
>>732235073
I had a PS2 and original Xbox as a kid and I didn’t learn pressure sensitive buttons were a thing until like 2015.
>>
>>732237874
You managed to skip playing GTA for that entire generation?
>>
>>732231004
>>732235073
I remember the pressure of the jump button controlling your jump height in nearly every game of that era. PS2 and Xbox
>>
>>732237924
nta but I never paid attention to how hard I was pressing X to accelerate
>>
>>732238171
I'll wager you did, and have merely forgotten over time.

Why the fuck do zoomers defend a computer program like it's their friend or something? I agree with op that it's kinda stupid it doesn't support the native controller when literally every other emulator does like dolphin.
>>
Fuck the pressure sensitive buttons. When I got a ps2 my friend always beat me in ATV offroad fury 2 because it was my ps2 and he probably didn't give a fuck about pressing the buttons really hard and breaking the controller and I didn't even know they were pressure sensitive.
>>
>>732239724
I'm confused, can you not modify a DS2 controller by soldering a USB connection? Or at least use Steam Input or something? It seems like it would be possible to use a DS2 controller.
>>
>>732240124
There are adapters which let you plug in a PS2 controller to usb, problem is the software not supporting the ps2 controllers features.
>>
>>732240665
That is *slightly* dumb. The only defense I can give is that this isn't hardware emulation, so you wouldn't be using PCSX2 if accuracy was your goal. I know that's kind of a cop out, but it's also true. Anyone fine with software emulation will be fine with a DS3 controller.

i remember staying at my grandma's and they had some demo with a bike game that made you soft tap the square button to swing your weapon, and it felt tacky as fuck. idk if it was pressure sensitive though and i can't remember what game it was
>>
>>732240796
I mean I played all the big pressure sensitive games on my DS3 and it all worked out fine.
>>
>Thread is just a jeet bot talking to himself when the last real person told him he was retard over an hour ago

Just another day on /v/ I guess.
>>
>>732240971
A lot of shovelware games that had pressure sensitive buttons didn't use them very well. There's probably some programming reason for it because the other games that used it well didn't have that problem.
>>
>>732237754
First time playing GT4?
>>
durrr noo we can't figure out pressure sensitive buttons thats impossible
>>
>>732241506
*Only sony hardware has it and there's a billion chink knockoffs and was a gimmick that sony themselves stopped using since PS4
ftfy
>>
>>732241150
Oh lord. Read up on this subject if anyone's curious. The Value was read at '0 to 255' but they had no guidelines for where each tier of pressing could be. Add to that that the button itself doesn't scale linearly so it'd go quickly from 0 to 160-ish fairly fast, but then you'd have to push hard to get that last 255. Additionally different controllers had different levels of wear on the pads and would register slightly different. Even more additionally the PS2 read the input per frame so bad framerate could mess with the inputs. ie, 'The controller polled 120 on this frame, but the game dropped it and then polled 100 on the next which wasn't in the trigger range for a button press'

It's neat but I can definitely see why Sony dropped it as time went on.
