I have been curious about some things related to video games but never really knew the answer

>1 AMD and NVIDIA drivers?
One thing I've noticed is that if a game does have a issue or optimization problem, its usually NVIDIA drivers that have a smoother experience I guess. Why is that? What is it about NVIDIA that lets many games get away with weird things? Not saying they never have problems but what even causes the disparity? There have been some games where AMD users get absolutely raped by weird optimization choices by the devs.

>2 Unreal Engine
I have seen this talked about a lot about it being an unoptimized mess. However if that is the case, why is it so popular to use?

>3 Optimization in general
When someone says "This game is an unoptimized shitfest!" what do they really mean? What is reasonable for optimization? If someone says a game is unoptimized but has a 10+ year old GPU, is that reasonable? What about if they had a 1 year old GPU or something? What is the line for optimization and when is something truly shit as a result of the developer?
