Because these days when a game comes out people rip out everything it contains and any weird or spooky little surprise it might have is instantly spoiled. You'd have to be extremely clever and randomly update the game on a consistent basis to try and get away with adding a little bit of flavor without being immediately discovered, but devs simply don't care about doing that
At first, I thought Edmund McMillen was a fag for getting so butthurt over people datamining The Lost and subverting his puzzle. But as time goes on, I realize he was right to be. Why should you just stand there and smile as the experience you crafted gets unearthed all at once? Instead of using the shovel you gave them, they bring a fucking skidloader and plaster their findings across the internet. Not even a damn day later and everything has been solved and people can move on. Datamining niggers are why some games bend over backwards to make everything so cryptic and obtuse. You ruined it for everyone, fucking ADHD retards. Chew slower ffs.
