I played AC syndicate recently and about 2 hours into it I realised I could pay money to buy “helix credits” to unlock stuff faster and speed up the game. I instantly uninstalled, even though I’d been enjoying it.I know people call Valhalla bloated and stuff. So what actually killed Ubisoft?
making shitty games
>>732230851Nothing? Ubisoft has literally always been pushing out mediocre slop for(aside from rayman) for its entire existance. But unless you're pokemon if you keep producing shit for 20 years straight at some point people will get tired and stop caring.
>>732230851The success of Assassin's Creed Origins in 2017. They thought they had finally perfected the open-world RPG formula and would never need to change it again, so they just kept reusing the same tired mechanisms game after game since then (and fired people who wanted to develop another kind of games).
>>732231117In parallel, the MeeToo era accelerated the feminization of Ubi's workforce, and structurally the company became more conformist, more risk-adverse, and less in phase about what gamers want.
>>732231117>Assassin's Creed Origins>rpgsmartest ac player
>>732231117>Let me tell you why changing the formula over the course of 2 games, because im a retarded faggot talking out of my ass and dont know how different valhalla is from origins/odyssey, doomed the company because of the sameness of the games as opposed to the 14 before those were all complete leaps and bounds different from one another. just say you're too stupid to upgrade gear, you retarded fucking faggot.>ok then so why did theyDEI decisions both in-game and (moreso) in-company.

Treating customers like cattle, blatant astroturfing, and making formulaic microtransaction filled slop has finally caught up with them and even normalfags are sick of ubisoft.
>>732230851Ubisoft is dying because every single one of their games is made by 3000 people, half of whom are middle management. So everyone is making something, nobody is responsible for the big picture, and you end up with games that have highly polished individual parts but as a whole end up as a messy brown sludge. For example at one point Ubisoft Reflections, the developers behind the Driver series, were responsible for vehicle handling in every single Ubisoft game. This meant that games like Watch Dogs 1 ended up with a very distinct vehicle handling that felt exactly like a Driver game and which was completely unsuitable for its gameplay-style. One of the main criticisms of WD1 was the vehicle handling, when that exact same handling model was widely praised in Driver San Francisco. Now imagine that sort of development style spread across every single part of a studios entire portfolio. The ever-present radio towers, the mandatory skill trees, the crafting etc.
