>I have a damaged cyber chip in my brain that's gonna kill me in a matter of weeks
>BTW I'm also gonna spend months in game cleaning the whole fucking megalopolis, killing the whole criminal population, and help all the people I meet
Literally the worst case of ludo narrative dissonance in gaming history
What the fuck were they thinking?
I mean sure, you can ignore it and do all of those side quests, but for a game that prides itself in being le immersive, it sure as hell isn't immersive pushing the story back, when said story does everything in its power to urge you to do it
Best part is they did the same shit in the expansion, but this time it's because you have to save the USA
Honorable mention to all the side characters asking you to meet them tonight right now! Again forcing you to drop everything to go help them, meaning there's no real way to play and do the content of this game in a satisfying and immersive way
It's all so fucking disjointed man
Even Witcher 3 wasn't that bad in this regard, you had to find Ciri and it was urgent, but you could justify Geralt exploring a medieval fantasy world with limited technology to find her, make money and such
>>
>>732234195
Yeah it's awful
On top of that you can add the fact that the game is still buggy as shit, and also the dead world with the most stock, lifeless NPC roaming the streets ever
Even GTA 4 in 2008 had better NPCs reactions and behaviors
>>
>>732234195
The ludonarrative never bothered me because there was never a hard and fast deadline and V is all about the “go out with a bang” vibe. What annoys me is this fixation on “nothing you do ever really matters, there’s no right answers in Night fuckin City maaaaannnn.”
Buddy I have wiped out a massive chunk of the gangland population. There simply cannot be enough mooks left for at least some of these people’s lives to be better. V saves so many people and upends so much Arasaka horse shit. I get it wouldn’t make the world perfect but “nah, doesn’t count” is such a stupid way to look at it.
>>
I can't fucking stand Male V's accent

i think they should have kept the original VA
Im replaying it for the first time since 2020 and i love the gameplay, i love the deus ex stealth action. The gigantic beautiful city is the icing on the cake. Sometimes it immerses me to the point i have to pause. Keeping it first person was the best decision they made
>>
>>732236676
Yeah I found it weird that there were so many throwaway references to corruption in high places in gig missions and even side mission chains but they always ended up going nowhere. There's no big bad that you can take out if even just for the satisfaction of doing something. Instead the game basically shrugs its shoulders and says "not much you can do".

I agree. They should have made the timeline for when the chip is going to kill V relatively vague and unknown to justify the games content. Or better yet, have most of it available before the heist. There are a lot of immersion mods that greatly improve the game, including one that removes Viktor's "2 weeks " voiceline.

Despite some of the decisions causing ludo narrative dissonance, I think that modded cyberpunk is probably one of the best gameplay experiences available for im sim rpg enjoyers. The attention to detail for the lore, the setting, the music, god its just so amazing.
>>
>>732237604
>There's no big bad that you can take out
Multiple endings have you kill off extremely high ranking Arasaka officials.
>>
>>732237538
don't worry the immershun will soon wear off once you notice how lifeless, and unfinished the city actually is
>>
>>732237719
Sure but it all seems so remote from the day-to-day of Night City itself like what goes on with the NCPD, major crime bosses, etc. Even the Arasaka vs. Militech stuff which is very interesting doesn't get much exploration.
>>
>>732237604
this
you're just a street tough killing gangoons the whole game while GiTS is happening in the background and you can't be a part of it. It's so fucking lame.
>>
>>732237292
Shemnue actually have a time limit (and a bad ending).
Meanwhile V is just a functional cyberpsycho with a rockerboy tulpa and everyone is lying to him about his condition because they are either incompetent or just fucking with him for shits and giggles.

>the chip is literally killing you!
>and by that we mean you're subtly being overwritten
Literally execute the entire writers' room.

It really is unbelievable how retarded and shitty this game is. Even ignoring all the many, many gameplay problems and bugs, the stupid lazy montage at the start of the game just so they can fast forward to having the friend you have no attachment to because they just skipped all the friendship building part of the story "tragically" die and give you an urgent ticking clock, only to then also immediately brush that aside to have you doing irrelevant miscellaneous merc shit that you could have been doing instead of the stupid fucking montage in the first place! Even just trying to type and format this shit makes me angry. What a fucking turd of a game.
>>
>>732237538
>i think they should have kept the original VA
what? when did they change? are the original trailer v and in game v different people or something? never noticed and i like the male v VA
>>
>>732234195
>Sex is supposedly a big and open part of the world
>Full body modifications are available and widespread
>No futa NPC's walking around with bulges as big as their legs
That's the real immersion breaker
>>
Hanako has been waiting for me at Embers for a few months now.
>>
>>732238492
I wonder if the plot would have been better if the chip wasn't actively killing you, but instead people in high places really, really wanted it back which causes you to get caught up in all kinds of high-level conspiracies. It was also weird playing an RPG where a huge part of the plot focuses on the intentions and memories of someone who isn't the player. It just feels restrictive.
>>
you control the buttons you press anon, if you wanted to roleplay as someone urgently looking to deal with the chip problem then why didn't you?
>>
>>732237604
I'm still mad about that quest line with the politician who's been brainfucked by unknown forces and it just ends with a spooky voice on the phone telling you forget about it
>>
>>732234195
>spend months in game
No you didn't.
>>
i can do some wild suspension of disbelief but i'm not sure about some chip somehow rebuilding and resurrecting a human brain that's taken a fucking bullet
>>
>>732237723
I played though the game twice and loved it both times, cope more it's considered a master piece and no one cares what you think about it

You're supposed to find satisfaction in killing ethnic minorities who happen to be street level criminals.
>>
>>732234195
this precise dissonance is exactly why the game NEVER mentions a specific date, so that, if you play just the story as it was intended, it seems a lot more urgent and a shorter amount of time passes
Skyrim makes a similar mistake by having everyone treat the return of dragons like the end of the world, when you can sit in Whiterun with your thumb up your ass for literal decades, because it DOES have a date system
You CAN fuck around at your leisure because they made a big open world city and they wanted you to be able to enjoy it without having a literal ticking clock hanging over your head
Whether the game would have benefited from a Majora's Mask style countdown until your death, I don't know, and no one ever will because it doesn't exist
Maybe CDPR will add a turbocancer mode in a future update or a modder will create one, but I doubt it
>>
>>732239779
No you can't when every fucking side character eventually send you a text telling you to meet them this instant
>>
>>732239779
>they made a big open world city and they wanted you to be able to enjoy it without having a literal ticking clock hanging over your head
Ah yes, this is why they made the story about having a literal ticking clock hanging over your head, but couldn't even commit to this idea properly
The game is a fucking mess no matter how you look at it
>>
>>732239938
Sorry anon, I didn't know literally every character in Night City has a leash tied around your balls like that
sounds rough
>>
>>732240039
It's not my problem if you are a mouthbreathing retard who don't understand immersion and the many things that can break said immersion
>>
Human Revolution and Mankind Divided are better Cyberpunk games and they came out earlier.
>>
>>732240180
>Dude Sex
>Cyberpunk
It's Tech Noir.
>>
>>732240214
It's still a better cyberpunk game than cyberpunk
>>
Okay wise guys how would you design the game if it wasn't centered around Keanu Reeves? I bet it be harder then you think.
>>
>be /V/
>Experts say you have X weeks to live
>Don't give a flying fuck an live your awesome Merc life making NC your bitch
>WOWWWW DUDE WHYYY DID YOU NOT DIE IN TWO WEEKS DUDE

Ever heard of cancer patients living the remainder of their days with on a vacation booze and hooker only for the cancer to suddenly regress?
>>
>>732234195
I challenge you to count the actual days that pass in game, even in a completionist run
>>
>>732240230
You're trying so hard.
>>
>>732240180
Arkham Knight is a better open world game where you play a guy with a bunch of high tech gadgets, who lives in a stylised neon city, is infected with a virus that's rapidly killing him and has an imaginary friend in his head that's trying to overwrite his personality and that came out earlier.
>>
>>732234195
These are valid critiques and I loved the game.
The bones are there but they really need to flesh out immersion in a lot of areas, not just the go-to npc complaint.
>>
>>732240397
>So called immmersive game where you have an apartment and can sleep (this also gives you a XP boost)
>ACHUALLY YOU HAVE TO COMPLETE THE WHOLE GAME IN 2 DAYS INGAME AND DISREGARD IMMERSION AND IMMERSIVE, BELIEVABLE PACING ENTIRELY
Fucking retard
>>
>>732240338
The whole "MacGuffin everyone wants" plot is fine, and having Keanu Reeves as a side character replacement for the spic works as well. The problem is the fixation on the player character slowly dying instead of the player character trying to make it big. All that shit about Johnny Silverhand and his past should have been side missions against the background of a more ambitious "how do I become a legend and very wealthy to boot" narrative.
>>
>>732234195
"Ludonarrative dissonance" doesn't exist.
It's always just narrative dissonance
>>
>>732240786
It's the narrative dissonance of going from "make your way to the top in a city that epitomises power and greed" to "I need a doctor".
>>
>>732236676
>>732237604
I half agree but I feel like the game also paints the situation like a hydra, for every asshole you kill there's 20 more waiting to take their place
the dlc ending proves this further, even after arasaka has basically collapsed and is pulling out of the states, millitech wastes no time filling in the vaccum of power
>>
>>732241164
I don't mind that kind of conclusion, but it would be nice to have the opportunity to kill more assholes and explore their operations further than just some level design and recorded conversations.
>>
>>732234195
Studios really need to stop putting retarded urgency shit in a FUCKING OPEN WORLD GAME
Jesus fucking christ
I understand your points completely and think the same
Open world means total freedom
You don’t get any of this jarring shit in say, Elden Ring or even BOTW/TOTK
Those games makes it clear to you as to what your ultimate goal is, but they never rush you towards it
Instead, the games tell you to fuck off and do as you please
>>
Some of you fuckers just overthink shit. The game is fun for what it is and you can take your time.
>>
>>732238772
This would have been so much better
Like other anons said ITT, you are never really part of the cool corpo conspiration shit that takes place in the background
Only time where you have cool shit like that is the DLC
But even then, it’s still too surface level
I also find it hilarious how there is such a drastic difference in quality between main game and DLC
The main game quests and situations are like an pre alpha version comparD to DLC
This wasn’t like that in Witcher 3, main game there had lotd of quality main and side quests, DLCs were even better, but main game was still great
Man Cyberflop is such a fucking embarassment
>>
>>732241958
>so called immersive "rpg" experience
>breaks your immersion constantly
>duuuuuh the game is fine i am having a blast x) xD
Nigger
>>
>>732237604
its kind of part of the cyberpunk theme that fighting to make the world a little better is mostly hopeless, and best you can do is save a couple of individual lives or maybe take revenge
