You're experiencing a work designed for specific hardware in mind outside of that space; the artistic vision is being corrupted by not utilizing the original hardware. I can understand why people feel the need to emulate (Affordability, unavailability, etc), but the truth is you have the choice to either wait and respect the game's artistic vision or completely disrespect the game designers. For example, I really wanted to play the older Mortal Kombat games but didn't want to ruin my experience by using a PC and gamepad. Instead of emulating, I saved enough money to buy an Arcade1Up machine. I promise you, it is worth it to wait.
>the artistic vision is being corrupted by not utilizing the original hardware. How?>Instead of emulating, I saved enough money to buy an Arcade1Up machine.Oh, it's a shill thread. Buy an ad.
>>732234197If you look at reprints of paintings you don't believe paintings are art. You're experiencing a work designed for a specific viewing experience in mind outside of that space; the artistic vision is being corrupted by not utilizing the original canvas and paint. I can understand why people feel the need to view prints (Affordability, unavailability, etc), but the truth is you have the choice to either wait and respect the painter's artistic vision or completely disrespect the painter. For example, I really wanted to see the Mona Lisa games but didn't want to ruin my experience by using a PC and googling the painting. Instead, I saved enough money to buy an ticket to the LouvreI promise you, it is worth it to wait.
>>732234285>How?Visuals like pic related and also mechanic-wise. Let's use an example relevant to Mortal Kombat (or at least fighting games), the stickless arcade controller. Special move inputs were intended to be mechanically difficult to balance special moves' power. They were also designed to fit energetically with their respective character. Having to spin your arcade joystick in order to complete a 720 adds to the game's feel. Removing that with all button controllers like the hitbox ruin this. >Oh, it's a shill thread. Buy an ad.Not a shill.>>732234507I see what you are saying. Maybe I was being a bit too hyperbolic. I will say this though, reprints are less artistically valuable than the original. You don't get to see the texture of the original painting when you look at reprints. Being physically present with a piece of art is somewhat spiritual.
>>732235004Well, you could always output to a CRT screen. And emulation supports hundreds of controllers. I use a DS5 for ps1-ps4 emulation, wiimote for the wii, gc controller for the gc, etc. And you can use MegaBezel for great scanlines. So you dont really have a point. : )
>>732234197>saved enough money to buy an Arcade1Upsorry saar shill but we already know thats basically a shitty arm computer, not the original hardware. you can plug a stick into a computer running the same emulator.
>>732235004>Visuals like pic related That can not only be replicated by using your own CRT if you are that anal about it, you can use CRT filters for the same effect without littering your home with e-waste outdated crap that take too much space. >Having to spin your arcade joystick in order to complete a 720 adds to the game's feel.Which Mortal Kombat character needs a 720 input for any moves?>Removing that with all button controllers like the hitbox ruin this.No it doesn't.>Not a shill.Yes you are.
