TBC was a mistake despite some strong moments, and Wrath probably shouldn't have resolved the Warcraft 3 story but was still fun enough in it's own right.

Yes, gameplay wise they were a very cohesive whole but storywise this was pretty obviously not the case. It mostly felt like a, well, alliance just looking at the quest text. Like, Tauren, Orcs and Trolls were all very obviously close. Humans, Night Elves, and Dwarves were mostly off doing their own things, with Gnomes as a sidekick to the latter. . Honestly kind of like how different the Forzaken NPC's act in their own homeland compared to kalimdor and elsewhere. Meanwhile, Stonetalon has a pretty fun quest about Night Elves trying to work together with Gnomes.

Horde meanwhile generally had it's affairs in other, with even most internal enemies being controlled opposition. Then after TBC the Humans got their king back and in Cata the Night Elves lost Fandrem. Yet, somehow, I'm supposed to believe the Horde is pushing them out of Lordaeron.
