Don't know why I didn't mention it, but I do use a ps5, only for armored core though. No other games.
>>
I've owned a ton of them but sold/lost/gave away most. Currently have PS2 through 5, PSP, Wii U, Switch, Switch 2, GBA, DS and 3DS, Xbox 360 and One, plus two gaming laptops. I had a Dreamcast but it vanished the last time I moved. Very sad.
>>
>>732247234
I bet you still have the Dreamcast. It's just in the last place you'd ever check.

i have old handhelds, a battered limited edition gameboy color, nintendo DS, a switch, a wii and a gamecube. Almost never use them.

I have a big dick dream-pc (until AMD releases another flagship gpu worth buying that is, ill never paypig for Njudea gpus) that i use for everything.

PSVITA
PC with a 3060 12gb version and 64 ram.

I mostly play games on PC these days, but I don't emulate on it and prefer to play on the original hardware if I can. Just yesterday I fired up Shadow the Hedgehog on PS2 and boy has that game aged badly.
PSP is actually retired and I use CFM on the VITA to play PSP titles with it. My most played games on it are Megaman Maverick Hunter X and Megaman X4.

>7900xtx XFX Merc
>Samsung m.2 gen 4 990 Pro 4TB for gaming (and a bunch of other m.2s for data storage and a dedicated boot-ssd for the OS and essential programs, its always wiser to separate each function of a pc into its own data storage for compartmentalization/redundancy).

On the subject of consoles and PC builds, how reliable are AIO coolers? Should I worry if my cooler is 3 years old now? I don't give a fuck whether it stops moving. I just don't want it to leak all over my PC

How well does a laptop from 10 years ago fair with Ubuntu?
>>
>>732248083
oh, i should have mentioned, the case is an Antec Flux pro, my phones fish-eye lens doesn't capture size well, its VERY spacious inside, none of those figurines are being blasted by any direct-heat fan exhausts, the case itself was the number 1, top-airflow case in 2024 on release (i modded the front of it with an extra-layer of pvc dust-mesh though, which slightly reduces airflow but no issues).

The figgies will be just fine unless i don't clean the vents for like a year+, maybe.

>>732248081
i built it early 2025 (the best possible time to build in hindsight), with the intention of not needing to upgrade anything ever again except the gpu, because by the time a replacement gpu for the replacement is required, gaming pcs will probably no longer exist in this format. Spending extra now is simply an investment.
>>
>>732248734
fair enough. although I think spending half on a replacement is worthwhile (If you have no other pressing expenses). Might even be able to find it cheaper on ebay. I'm seeing a few listed for around $70-$100. I've also seen some at local media thrift stores for around as much.

Yeah, I had a similar conclusion recently. I hate that terminal based systems are going to become the norm in the future. Even though I knew it would happen eventually I was hoping it would happen when I no longer cared for video games. Might as well collect all the hardware you can now if you want to maintain some offline data. Good decision anon. Thinking about spending a few grand on a maxed out build this year. Probably going to be my last one.
>>
>>732248815
Pretty bad
>>
>>732249208
yep, also with all the RAM uncertainty, or some other future computer-based scarcity issue propping up, its not worth waiting for the 11000 series AMD cpus, or whatever Intel-avivs cooking up next, i hear they're finally going to release a decent generation of cpus again probably later this year.
>>
>>732249334
Is it worth trying out for shits and giggles? I got an old late 2000s/early 2010s laptop I want to do something with.
>>
>>732249498
Yeah it is
>>
>>732249335
The scarcity issue might solve itself. Everyone is pointing their fingers at data centers and AI. But I've been noticing a good chunk of chip sales going to arm manufacturers. And when governments start stockpiling weapons then you know, it only really points to one thing historically. No reason to doom and gloom quite yet on personal computing, not till after.
>>
>>732249498
old products like that are great for media servers plugged into your tv, playing pirated tv shows etc.

>>732249762
there's still currently no counter for mach+ speed nuclear ICBMs, which means that a world war, or even a conventional war between super powers, is simply not gonna happen. Best Korea also has nukes now btw, they are officially sovereign. The proxy bloodshed in Ukraine is the closest we're getting to globohomo genocide at this point. The USA's simply updating its military arsenal for the modern era, that's all.

China wants Taiwan BAD, but they're also not gonna invade, because even if the USA cucked out and did nothing, the economic uncertainty, and tech-supply trains that would be destroyed/disrupted from the invasion, would be apocalyptic for the entire planet at this point.

Our fake debt-currency monetary system is a giant ponzi scheme and bubble in and of itself. Ironically what few people understand about the real, secret, MAIN reason trumps putting the boots into venezuela+Iran for regime change, is its his only viable way to improve the world economy in a short term manner. The banks need their debt-slave numbers pumped up by tens of millions of global citizens not from turd world countries like india or africa.
