Its the best one.
Has enough content to where you have plenty to play with but don't feel overwhelmed with DLC.
Best atmosphere, best graphics / artstyle, and even best ost. (Sims 1 ost is very good but alot of it was just classical music and stock tracks. 2 is where it really cemented its own feel)

Sims 1: Bizarresoul, insufferably jank these days
Sims 2: Maximum Oversoul, too many limitations to its gameplay especially where life stages are concerned (the world doesn't age up with you so an entire family line can have that one girl as their teenage girlfriend)
Sims 3: Some soul and best gameplay but ugly pudding people
Sims 4: Better art style, but soulless and terrible gameplay and a massive step back in general
