The Scorchers DLC might be in the top DLCs of all time, especially due to the way they integrated the content in the base game.

I was surprised to find out how much of a sequel RAGE 2 actually is. I remember people complaining about the ending, and that's classic shitty id for you -- but RAGE 2 playing into it makes it okay in my books.

I enjoyed it enough back in the day but it wasn't great.
>>

“Underrated” is a retarded term that carries no meaning. You mean you like it. You like the game. You enjoy playing rage. Say it. Say you enjoyed the thing.

I like that it doesn't pretend to have lore. This was the era of "shitty text and audio logs formatted with giant blocky text for HDTVs"

>>732271781
It takes a bit to get going, but turns into absolute weapon porn. It almost feels like it has too many (and it has even more when you count the weapon types), but I prefer to have more than less.
>>
if there was a mod to skip the racing parts and only do the shooting parts i would play it further in but i hate racing games
>>
>>732272859
I don't get what Carmack was thinking with the multiplayer. I get the co-op, of course -- but 4 player combat racing? That was their idea for competitive multiplayer?
>>
>>732273216
>>732272859
And without bots or 4 player split screen on the console versions, this mode was just a big fucking fail overall.

Look it's nice that it was your 3rd video game or you just never developed standards but just try playing literally any other shooter made in either direction in time.
>>
>>732271575
I loved the first one, but I just couldn't get into the 2nd one, the world just felt so bland despite all the Mad Max influence.
What tied it back to the non-ending of the first game?
>>
>>732271575
The open world sucks but the actual levels are kino
>>
>>732271575
The first RAGE has its flaws but I thought it was a tremendously enjoyable game, one thing that still sticks with me is how enemies from different factions fight differently and just how distinct they are in term of visuals. The reactions to being hit and death animations are all really good too.
Also the girls in the game were hot, the boomerang chick is top-tier.
>>
>>732271575
It just needed more levels in the second zone and a third zone. Could have been great, it's just ok
>>
>>732271575
Would've been a great game if they finished it properly instead of rushing the development. Instead it's merely an okay game with a disappointing ending.
>>
>>732276546
I liked it too, it's a decent shooter. Not sure what they were thinking with the sequel though, it plays and looks like shit.
>>
>>732271575
as a kid i used to jerk off to the tummies in the game
>>
>>732276787
I haven't played it yet because I heard it was pretty bad. Does it at least follow up on some aspects of the first one, like having distinct gangs and such?
>>
>>732271575
We were just spoiled with great games then. It's not as good as Doom and Quake so people shat on it. But by modern standards it absolutely is a great game
>>
>>732276938
Visually yes but it doesn't feel all that different to fight them because the areas are nudoom style arenas that you run around too fast for anything to keep up.
>>
>>732271781
Say "I'm a retarded faggot". Say it. Say what you are
The game IS underrated because it was compared to previous id masterpieces on release. But compared to MODERN id releases, it's great.
>>

>But by modern standards it absolutely is a great game
A random boomshoot made by an autistic transvestite that was able to stay conscious from the fumes from his bathtub estrogen lab is better than fucking RAGE lmao.

>>732271575
Why the fuck are you hiding your hours played?
and you didnt even hide it in the review bar so what was even the point?
>>
>>732271575
What is it with valve marketers not even posting game screenshots these days but straight up steamie hut junior store page screenshots instead?
>>
>>732276910
the SJWs unironically were right. I'm genuinely glad this era of female character design is dead and gone. I always hated it, long before the culture war and retarded SJWs being annoying never changed my opinion on it.

I will say we swung too far in the other direction in some instances where they just make women ugly and man jawed on purpose and that feels just as cynical as this does. There's a middle ground

What a shame then, it's been a while since I played the first one but in my memory most of the fighting took place in well-designed areas with plenty of cover, I think one of the melee bandits base was a collapsed apartment building and they could attack you from pretty much anywhere since they were good with vertical traversal, the authority prison also was more like fighting to push forward rather than an arena, and the guys with the orange cloth were fans of peeking and throwing grenades.

>>732277713
>There's a middle ground
Yeah, you're looking at the middle ground. There's nothing extreme about that picture. No giant tits, no giant ass, mostly covered up.

Didn't the proper textures take like 15 seconds to load on console because Id was testing out some new way to make them load or something? I remember reading something about that.

It's not, I played all your indie shooter crap, it's not even close to the level of polish this game has. Great gunplay in this, great AI

>looks great from afar
>but horrendous up close
>3/4th of the game is inside claustrophobic corridors

It genuinely felt like as if the racing stuff was originally the main core of the game but then the higher ups thought "hey, aren't we the first person shooty guys?" and Carmack went "awww shit...".
On the amusing side, it pretty much didn't need any item highlighting because you knew something was important due to the textures being of MUCH higher quality and sticking out like a sore thumb.

it looked like shit, ran like shit and played like shit ESPECIALLY the fucking revive QTE minigame on a controller
no clue how it got a sequel lol
>>
>>732279168
the sequel is more like a semi-spiritual follow up than a sequel. Rage 2 takes the technical concepts, makes it into a sandbox of tech demonstrations that made their way into doom eternal as purely visual fluff, to release it as a game it needed a name, rage is the closest thing.
I personally very much enjoy rage 2 but it really does require some hard autism pattern recognition to appreciate
>>
>>732279061
Not him, but same reaction. The purple is definitely part of it, but the yellow is also off putting, especially combined with the bright pink. I'm sure they were going for a loud punk aesthetic, but this comes off as cacophonous nonsense.
