I tried playing this again and it kinda sucks, you need golden cookies if you don't want to wait real life days until something happens and there's a lot of time-gated mechanics.

I hate nodebuster with a burning passion because this being kinda fun and popping off, has resulting in a thousand copy cat games with the same skill system, and the same "be in a level for 10 seconds to gain points to buy from the skill tree" games. Largely made by Ai.
>>
>>732273278
I'm still waiting on the dungeon update.
I actually kinda hate all the minigames being in cookie clicker, I don't want to do them.
>>
>>732274212
I only really hate the stock market one
But I do wish they could be turned off or they didn't count to achievements
>>
Clicker games should have an ending, paperclips game worked well because of that.
I recently tried some idle game on itch where you evolve (or not) from a single cell organism and escape out of the lab, was nice too.

whatever you do, don't play idleon. it has solo dev (lavaflame2); however, that doesn't excuse the egregious monetization over the past 2 years. the dude loves milking his whales and ignoring everyone else, while the game continues to have tons of problems, bugs, and aged content.

not only that, but he spends his free time threatening numerous youtubers with "defamation" lawsuits over valid criticisms. lavaflame2, the stupid cunt, instead of hiring an assistant, would rather spend his money on coke while power tripping on reddit and discord.

The stock market is absolutely terrible but Orteil fell for the "if I suffered you have to suffer too" meme and won't fix it because it would "devalue" the achievements.
>>
I feel like Cookie Clicker has ridiculous requirements if you want to get all achievements that requires you to do these retarded combos. You can do 90% of the achievements with idling and some farming but the last stretch is so ridiculously steep I couldn't finish it
>>

Yeah cookie clicker's big flaw is that it eventually stops being an idle game and the only way to make any progress whatsoever is just save scumming to stack as many buffs at the same time as possible for like 5 seconds.

1: it takes so absurdly long to make any progress that you'll eventually hit a point where you're better off ascending rather than continuing to play the stock market, so you end up in a situation where there's literally nothing worth doing except watching the stock market at the expensive of any other progress you could be making. This happens before you're even like 1/4 of the way to completing the 1 year of CPS achievement.
2: it generates fuck-all cookies compared to doing basically anything else.

pretty much the only useful thing in the stock market is the loan CPS buffs that you can buy
>>
>>732272104
I hate the golden/wrath cookie into bakeberry meta. Game stopped being fun as soon as you realize that lategame is just repeating that loop over and over again. I haven't touched my save in years, but the game was novel and "fun" when it was fresh and hot out of the oven.

Never understood the appeal of this game. Half my time is spent on idle games (gacha fall into the same category, btw) and Cookie Clicker was boring as fuck.
>>
>>732272541
Why do people not understand how idle/clicker games work? You read the reviews for a lot of these games and they're just like this. People bitching about time gates. When that is what the genre is for. You're supposed to tinker with it for a few minutes each day then forget about it for 24 hours. Gacha games are the same. And yet the reviews are full of these faggots that can't comprehend you're not supposed to finish the game in 12 hours.
>>
Once you get a triple frenzy, suddenly you're waiting for a second golden cookie to give you a clicking frenzy and then you cast a Hand of Fate to get a third frenzy. I'm playing it now trying to get my garden back.
>>
>>732277757
the issue is the discrepancy between actually idling vs playing actively
in cookie clicker's case, each double golden cookie + bakeberry harvest generates DECADES worth of cookies you'd get from idling

Playing ITRTG now on 8/25 DRCs. Might quit because speedfalling is fucking repetitive and pet stone gating is extreme especially with the +20 growth pendant. Nevermind the whole punishment for rebirthing too early locking you out of might and feeding but your multis stagnate if you don't. Beat everything else under the sun from Farmer Against Potatoes to Trimps.
>>732274694
I was in top the 10 leaderboard before Doot, quit, and never looked back. Imagine programming your shit game that rips off maple story in Stencyl and lying to your playerbase about humbledev bullshit while becoming a bigger J and hypocrite than even Nexon. Suprised he hasn't broken it doing retarded shit like he did in Idle skilling.
>>732277651
If your game doesn't have 2 years of content it is a bad incremental.

>USI (Unnamed Space Idle)
Long idle game, some points better than others but still pretty good.
>Increlution
Hit or miss for some people, but I like this one. It's a loop idle game.
>Progress Knight
Another loop idle game, there are 3 versions (1, 2 and Quest) that are all a bit different. I'd pick either 2 or Quest to play, Quest has a lot of QoL but might be a bit too much.
>Proto23
Super cool game, feels very obscure at times, but seems to be all but abandoned.
>Yet Another Idle RPG and The Climb
Both Proto23-likes, not quite as good but more developed, as well as being actively improved. There's just something a bit too...neat? Compared to Proto23. Sort of like comparing FFXIV and FFXI, though not quite that stark.
>Calculator Evolution
Feels quite unique, a bit janky towards the end though.
>CIFI
Only mobile idle I've played for more than 5 mins, I liked it a lot but the monetisation is pretty fucking awful.
>Synergism, Antimatter Dimensions, Fundamental
Just a few more off the top of my head that I don't have much more to say on, but are also worth playing.
>>
Please I need a good clicker, the only one I liked recently was Tower Wizard but it was short as fuck

i was about to close the tab today since i have done nothing in it for a few days, this kinda just sucks. i'm shocked to even see a thread about cookie clicker in current year. i picked it up again out of boredom several days ago.

i'm letting it just passively get to 14 trillion to unlock whatever that is down there, that is my current plan. anything i should waste cookies on right now? seems like the general /waiting/ strategy is best. the game is clearly slowly revealing mechanics to me that i don't have yet.

>>732285778
waiting 24 hrs for a +1% upgrade is pretty lame
and this level system costs exponentially more each time? it's like, what?

looking for any advice to revive the interest. my pc is on all the time anyway.
>>
>>732277260
too sort I already finished it
>>
>>732286234
it's been years since i actively played cookie clicker but from what I remember, sugar lumps just get spent like I said on farms->towers->temples->farms, it's probably the biggest stopgap for early game and you can't do much for it beyond just waiting
since you don't have any ascendancy levels yet you can't do much beyond wait for slow growth and click the occasional golden cookie when it pops up, you want to ascend at around 100-111 points and start getting permanent upgrades roughly in cost order
you only need to save cookies up until you cap out on frenzy+lucky, beyond that just spend everything. when you get farms you'll eventually save to cap out on elder+building frenzy into bakeberries but you're far from that point.

your first few ascensions will be quite slow. you goal is to roughly x5 or x10 your previous ascension level, and it'll probably take half a day to get back to your previous cps plus a while more to build up your bank. later on after you ascend you'll be back at your peak cps within an hour and you can fill your bank with a single building frenzy+click frenzy.
>>
>>732286234
>waiting 24 hrs for a +1% upgrade is pretty lame
>and this level system costs exponentially more each time? it's like, what?
Yeah it's a long term thing.
I'd recommend not playing it at all, but the best way to make cookies as far as I know is just maximizing golden cookie effects and getting lucky with getting all the different multipliers at the same time.

>>732281197
itrtg is pretty extreme, but not sure what you consider "beating an idler" cause you won't beat itrtg in any traditional sense. bunch of people who have played it for a real life decade and no one can kill the highest theoretically possible prinny baal yet.
i tinkered with it on and off for like 2 years ca 4000 steam hours to get all the achievements, but the game goes (practically) infinitely.
i appreciate games that go infinitely, i lost interest in diablo 3 when we found out paragon capped at 20 000.

I'll be honest, I don't even know why I keep this open... I'm at 573 / 622 achievements, so probably once I get that next milk I'll probably just give up.
>>
>>732272104
when you use force the hand of fate planner to give yourself as many buffs as possible at the same time, the last couple milestones are literally impossible otherwise
>>
I miss when dragonflight and click frenzy would stack together
>>
>>732275553
Eh, not necessarily a lie, but ya know, sometimes you make an announcement for a planned feature early on, people get pretty hype, and then as you keep going and going with updates, you keep realizing that the feature you promised doesn't actually fit with what the game is.
It is what it is.
