What's the appeal? Flying a plane isn't even difficult. The difficult bit is starting it up, fiddling with buttons because the contractors overcomplicated the aircraft to keep their jobs and learning the sensors and avionics which will never be touched in any real war since they'll just replace you with UAVs anyway.
>>732277239I'm not obsessed with planes but I've spent a good deal of time playing some flight sims. It's like driving simulators. You can immerse yourself and become a different person for a while, which, in case of airplanes, would necessitate a lifetime of training. And, admit it - planes are cool. They can have weapons and shit. And most importantly, they fly.

>>732277239for me it's Digital Coping Stimuli over the fact i could never make it as a fighter pilot.so when i play it i immerse myself as much as possible. also, yes. flying with fly-by-wire is retardedly easy, but that was kinda the idea why they made fly-by-wire. to alleviate the pilots workload so he could concentrate on combat. >overcomplicatedskill issue. once you "get it", the controls on your plane of choice are trivial, the F-16 interface for instance is just divinely intuitive.>learning the sensors and avionics which will never be touched in any real war since they'll just replace you with UAVs anyway.yes, 4GEN air to air combat is very dead in the real world. so is ww2 air to air combat, that does not make the experience un-enjoyable.
>>732277239>sensors and avionics which will never be touched in any real warThose sensors and avionics have already proved their worth in: The Vietnam War The Iran-Iraq War Operation El Dorado Canyon The 1991 Gulf War The Bosnian Intervention The skirmish between Pakistan and India that just happened last year The raid on Iran just last year The raid to capture Maduro that just happened. And they continue to prove their worth in Ukraine.
