They haven't been as strong as expected because people are disappointed with the new Mario Kart. If that game was a 10, they wouldn't be able to keep the system in stock, regardless of the rest of the software library.

There’s barely anything to play on it and it isn’t meaningfully different from the OG switch. Also MP4 sucked ass which implies their long dev times are not actually yielding anything worth playing. It's just the distribution of sales that's a bit different from expected (and not even by a lot), with American sales being a bit less than expected and sales elsewhere being higher than expected. All in all, sales have not fallen short at all.
