He only wanted to work with and understand the heart as a means to perfect his manufactured heartless and have them perform in Halloween Town's various events. He seeks further understanding for his personal whims, and probably wouldn't be interested once he had his understanding and saw that further experimentation would end up ruining his home. I doubt he'd have any interest in being forced to engage in heavy physical activity out in the field, that's why he has Sally and occasionally Jack.

New games juggle so many threads that they often can't focus on heartfelt story, shounen anime arcs or deep lore. Maybe KH4 will be a fresh start that way. The way I see it, if you can use portals of darkness to travel between worlds, light should have similar abilities. Might also be how summon stones work, since Tinkerbell and Genie definitely didn't lose their worlds, and can just show up when called.

>>732281774neverland has neverland and london in it, halloween town has christmas town (and likely an alternate real world that celebrates the holidays, though this is a little iffy as santa already knows who sora is and where he is on the naughty/nice list). worlds are a lot larger than what you explore in the game. the wonderland world likely has an alternate england embedded in it. alice didn't travel from one world to another, she traveled from one plane within the world to another.either that or there are a number of pathways connecting particular worlds to each other beyond just using the gummi ship or the realm of darkness.
