When will indie devs stop trying to make shitty derivative copies of old games?
>>732282582Millennials grew up with the most interesting, innovative games but all they can do is imitate
when new games become good again i'll copy them instead
>>732282582lol, those journalists have no idea what they are talking about. They just trying to make excuses to make shit woke.if it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT! A formula that works does not need to change.
>>732282582Only a certain type of gamer gets bothered by this. I love tried and true gameplay with a new coat of paint and few quirks.
>>732282647millennial games are just copies of gen x games
>>732282582I dunno seems like it still works out alright given how successful silksong was.
>>732282582how else can they make good games?
>>732282582When people stop buying them.
>>732282582Is the game already out though?
>>732283241Demo out but I haven’t tired it yet but I have heard good things about it
I swear you people will spend more time watching videos about people playing video games than playing video games
>>732282985Depends on my mood on how saturated the genre is. If the game is copied from a niche or underrepresented genre, sure, but when it's too popular I feel fatigue. Granted, like you mentioned, a new coat of paint and some small differences in implementation can make a feel like its own thing, even if it's otherwise generic.
>>732283297why would you ever think that anyone on /v/ plays videogames?
>>732282582so if we have a finite number of letters, and the combinations of letters should be infinite but in practice they aren't as there is a maximum practical length for words, then it means that the ideas manifested by such finite combinations can't be infinite.maybe every single idea already been expressed in books or vidyawe've been into transmutation of ideas for years maybelike "x game but with y"I'm sure there is a name for this situation I read it somewherebut I'm retarded rape me
>>732283297>zoomers raised by ipads watch youtube videos instead of playing video gamesWow. I didn't know that, you're telling me now for the first time.
>>732282582it's been interesting to see this. Indieshit devs seem to be able to make a passable Metroid-style game but anything beyond that they just don't get close.
>>732283949>the combinations of letters should be infinite but in practice they aren't as there is a maximum practical length for wordsTry telling that to germans.
>>732282582What indie game is like this? I wish I could play ripoffs of old games. Indie devs can’t stop shoving in modern crap.
>>732282582I'll take Parasite Eve at home over another Elden Ring at home. I'll take Breath of Fire at home too.
>>732283346I’m a metroidvania autist and the genre is so codified but I love it every time. It’s a perfect formula as long as there’s decent music and aesthetics.
>>732282985the trick is to enjoy many different genres of games so you can genre hop and not get burned outI just did two back to back runs of Lords of the Fallen 2023 because I've never played it and had the itch to play a soulslikedo you think my next game will be a soulslike? fuck noI'm playing Rogue Trader for the first time instead
>>732282582>Pair O' Site Eve>has more than 2 gamesWhat a hack.
>>732282582When either the studios that made those games make a new game in those series or Diablo's case, stop woking it the fuck up. Until then, indies will serve as a replacement for them and if some of these devs don't shape up, there's a possibility the indie surpasses them and their series can no longer compete.
>>732282582Im making an original game so if you guys dont buy it you're fucking frauds
