The plot in Dark Souls 1 is perfectly coherent, there's just details that are intentionally hidden or given to you by obviously unreliable narrators because it makes the storytelling more interesting if some of the info you're given is questionably true.
Elden Ring has the least interesting lore of the miyazaki games barring Das3. Probably because its just Das4.
