I'm playing through Nioh 2 atm and it's making me want to try Nioh 3, because while I love Nioh 2, I have wrung almost everything from it after 1500 hours. I am extremely disappointed in Nioh 3. It's a huge mess. Everything with jumping is half baked. The UI is a mess. The screen is a mess, filled with BS and too many effects. The gameplay has tracking and hitbox problems that are more transparent now that it's a Deflect/Dodge slop game. By that I mean that enemies are generally not allowed to miss unless you do one of those two actions. It becomes annoyingly restrictive and therefore boring. I don't feel free to do what I want despite them claiming "play your way."I've seen too many enemies blink 180 degrees to make sure their combo is tracking. The first real boss does this a lot. Which means there is no sense of momentum, they can do what they want when they want.Ninja mode was a mistake. The arts meter was a mistake. They had to gimp the player from past Niohs to give those attributes purpose. It's a lateral change AT BEST. Ninja mode is so easy the player doesn't have to engage with the ki management mechanics anymore.Less customization is available now that they forced only certain attacks to have elemental version instead of All of Them. And I hate that they separated weapons. They gatekept power progress to give the annoying and boring to traverse open world some purpose.It's so bad at the beginning that Axe has become the best weapon. It's super strong and you don't have to even invest in it. I have many skill points I don't even want to use because it forces you to commit to a weapon early and previously you were rewarded for merely using the things which worked better for a diablo loot game.Splitstaff looks awful. In their attempt to make it Ninja only, they sped up animations and it just looks bad.
Tested both Tile Shaker and Spiked Wall on hatchets and both work on yokai. Spiked Wall was never a parry in 2 but instead just a specific move you did after guarding. It now works more like a timed parry and you can just use it as a normal attack as well. I don't remember if Tile Shaker worked on yokai in 2 since the timing was so tight that I hardly ever used it but it definitely works on them in 3. It's a lot easier to land now and hits harder than Spiked Wall while also getting you behind human enemies. The follow-up attack is a little slower than Spiked Wall though. Both are good and give the weapon some more defensive options other than just dodging.

Cestus feel great in 3. I've been combo'ing into the launcher+dive kick after reckless charge a lot and also have been doing a combo that's something like high stance heavy, battering ram, quick attack, then fists of reckoning. Starting an arts proficiency combo with Beyond Infinity is cool too since you can negate it's high ki cost. I kind of wish Limitless had a speedy variant that reduced it's damage but greatly reduced it's charge time.

Both it and Mortal Flow are good at destroying horns at least but Mortal Flow still has annoyingly long recovery so moves don't combo smoothly after it during arts proficiency. They need to give Mortal Flow a follow-up attack that either is an extra input or maybe automatically activates if it depletes remaining enemy ki. Another idea could be to make it charge-able to increase the range of the thrust and damage of both moves.

They kind of brought over the stone spikes one, flame pillar would kick ass, the earth spell that makes quicksand could be fun to fuck around with, etc. The lightning storm that moves in a straight line is essentially the sudama soul core spell. I'd love if we elemental interacting shit like wo long. For those who didn't play it you could cancel out elemental damage with the opposing element, like if Lu Bu lights his spear on fire he does fire damage but you could put it out by hitting him with a water/ice spell.

Poorfag here is this game as optimised as RotR? I couldn't run that game not even at 30 fps but the demo for Nioh 3 works fine and is stable at 60 fps.Did I fuck up something with RotR? Or does that game have higher spec demands?
I listened to some advice in a previous thread and tinkered with this option to help the CPU utilization issues.When this was set to aggressive Nioh 3 was sitting between 70-80% CPU usage and a temp of ~70C. After disabling this so my fans don't go nuts I'm sitting at 50% in the overworld and temps are chilling at ~60C.So far so good, but more hours are needed to clock the performance hit if any.I did already have "good" performance and could hit that 60fps, with dips, without framegen. This is more so for people that just want to prevent the sound of turbines as they play the game.If you're interested you have to edit a registry to get the option in pic related to show up. And there's a rebbit thread with a quick guide how to do it.

There was some other 2kat anon a few threads ago asking about Earthly Flow on those big headed farmer yokai. I tested it out and I can't seem to get the move to work on them either, not sure why. It normally works against all yokai attacks but it's either bugged or there's certain attacks that it just doesn't work on after all.
