Why is it so tough for games to capture the feel of being a wizard? Can't think of a single game with good adventure, gameplay, and magic. Just wanna be Gandalf
>>
>>732302073
Some retard is gonna name some TES shit
>>
>>732302073
I don't believe you, you'd still create a female character in skimpy outfits if there was a good wizard game.
>>
>>732302073
Magicka
>>
>>732302073
Try Elden Ring.
>>
>>732302073
Master of Magic is the closest you can get.
>>
Because being a wizard isn't about conjuring fireballs or floating objects or other cheap parlour tricks. It's about being steady of spirit and about the quiet contemplation of a mind honed by wisdom. It's not really a good fit for games. Try read a book instead.
>>
>>732302073
Gandalf is more like a priest than a wizard, but then you don't have the wizard aesthetics.

My Sims Kingdom

>read a book about odin, the greatest PVRE ARYAN wizard
>being a wizard it's about drinking dead man's semen
Guess I'll stick to vidya.

The manchild's obsession with the magical and fantastical is paradoxically also what robs things of their magic, a person who rejects nature can never understand the supernatural, because they are two sides of the same coin. Want to capture the feeling of being a wizard? Go take a walk.
>>
>>732302073
just play modded skyrim, oblivion or morrowind retard
>>
>>732302073
there are tons of games like that, you are just a little bitch who prefers crying on 4chan instead of looking for them.
>>
>>732302261
>Elden Ring
this is never gonna stop being funny
>>
>>732302261
Elden Ring's magic "system" makes Skyrim look like Noita.
>>
>>732303010
How about games that don't suck ass?
>>
>>732302209
Magicka gets the most important part of wizarddom right: Trolling your allies with friendly fire beams
>>
Divine Divinity has great adventure and gameplay, and mages rape anything that melee plebs struggle with
>>
>>732302073
Oh my god. Ive had this same feeling for so long. If we could get more games like Harry Potter (but not Harry potter its just too millennial-coded).
Forspoken had magic but Frey is a bit too agile to be a regular wizard.
Dragons Dogma 1 and 2 really give a weighty magic feel. A real masterclass in the rpg feel.
Dragon age, Skyrim, CP2077 (technomancer feel), Divinity original sin 2, Pathfinder games (especially the lich path), And some mmos.
EXCEPT guild wars 2. Fuck that game, All i wanted to be was a staff wizard but NO!
>>
>>732303554
Fates of Ort has great magic
>>
>>732302195
A good wizard game would just let you polymorph into a girl at will, like Ultima Online.
>>
>>732302073
You can come up with a bunch of "if Gandalf is so powerful, why didn't he just do X" scenarios in LOTR. But in a game you want to be able to just blast your way through everything with magic which is fundamentally a different narrative.
>>
>>732303624
Wishlisted. Thanks fellow wizard.
>>
>>732303870
>if Gandalf is so powerful, why didn't he just do X
He's an angel basically, and God doesn't want angels to just directly influence the fate of earth
>>
>>732303954
Well yeah but are you going to accept that in a game?
>yes you're powerful but uh... you can't use your power because (story reasons)
No one wants that
>>
>>732302425
>It's about being steady of spirit and about the quiet contemplation of a mind honed by wisdom
You completely misunderstand. It’s not about anything WE would call “wisdom” or “contemplation.”

Think about it: wizards FEEL magic. Humans have no idea what it means to feel magic.

So there’s no conceptual framework or point of reference to even begin to notion about what a wizard is. Anything you try to pin down becomes superficial (wave stick, make rock float, or fireball shoot from stick).
>>
>>732304121
Don't make a game about literally being Gandalf in LOTR then, faggot
>>
>>732303954
So that's why he sent the wizards to influence the fate of middle earth?
>>
>>732302682
That's kind of what you get for reading a book by a jewish faggot that desperately tries to twist everything to fit his faggot agenda.
>>
>>732304180
Yeah it's the same way God doesn't directly interfere with mortals except when he drowns an entire continent. Catholics do be like that
>>
>>732304121
Everybody loved that in Other M.

>>
>>732302484
I like when there's not much difference between priests and wizards. The Lord of the Rings/Wheel of Time style where magic is something divine is just more interesting than splitting it into divine and whatever magic is in the setting.
>>
I think there are plenty of cRPGs and things like that that have what I consider a fun progression curve for a wizard (the classic start out weak, become a demigod later) but they all fail in the aspect of specifically being a wizard adventure, you just happen to be a wizard playing the main story
>>
>>732304430
I like Conan stories in which priests with magical powers are just wizards bamboozling retards to get a cult of useful idiots.

Gandalf? Gandalf barely acts like a wizard in the traditional sense.
He is old and wise but rarely actually uses magic.

Its a shame about the writing though
>>
>>732302073
Dragons Dogma, even the second one. Games that let you be a full on wizard onreally really work when you dont have to worry about enemies getting into melee and shit and so dont ahve to worry about doing melee combat.
>>
A wizard is typically just an expert that arrives when he means to and sorts a complex issue due to their supernatural connections. They look like unassuming old dudes just passing by and you have no idea they did solved the entire situation that was unfolding behind them.
He doesnt need to give you a reason for what he does, so he's unfit for video games. On the contrary the young people around the wizard are more important, without aiding them there's not much ambiance other than wood creaking and birds chirping.

Gandalf didn't have any bitches.

Reminds me of the Wizard in Death Road to Canada. If you can convince him to help you at the point of the game you encounter him, he 'will' carry you to the end of the game.
That guy is a bro.

The dialogue and the basic plot can be great at times. The problem is that the main story ends abruptly. Also people put too much stock in the cycles aspect of it. That wasn't that great, and the best part was characters like Julien and Grigori.

morrowind is still the best that i know of.
if you liked skyrim but thought it was kinda crap, tainted grail's magic system is similar enough but much better. however i'm lategame and disappointed by the lack of new spells, they did great early on.

there's a decent amount of summons and support spells but i play spellsword. if i wasn't playing on hard i'd breeze every enemy and i'm still using combat spells i found early act 2.
this game desperately needs a sequel to expand on it's systems but what's there is pretty good. highly recommend
