Was it really THAT bad?
is this bait? this is bait
>>732307976Don't you know? new = bad and graphics > gameplay
>>732307803Every pokemon game on the switch is low effort kusoge
>>732307803Took a while to get going, but I had fun. Felt like a good sendoff for older pokemon fans.
It's the best Pokémon game since B/W
>>732308349At this point I can't tell if it's low effort or low skill
Why even ask? Palworld mogged every Pokemon game made in the last 10 years so hard that Nintendo resorted to patent trolling.
>Is it THAT bad? No>Is it THAT good? Also noPLA's like a 6/10 indie game. I appreciate it but feels underdeveloped.
Nah, it's a solid 7/10.Legends Z-A on the other hand? A solid 2/10.
>>732308487This but unironically.
>>732308420Probably a mix desu. GF have never been the most competent devs around. Even if they actually tried I don't think they could make anything truly great.
did not like the combat and how you filled out the pokedex was a tad too much, everything else was cool
>>732307803This is what I though Pokemon would soon become when I heard the Gamecube was announced. Too bad it would be another 15+ years before Nintendo tried to make something different which fans actually wanted. Yes it's really flawed, but if it had been made during the Gamecube era instead it would have now been considered a classic. Of course everything about it is laughable by modern standards.....even though it's a "modern" game.
I liked the setting but thought the world was a bit empty, still it's the only modern pokemon game I had fun with
>>732307803It has all the usual Pokemon laziness, but What stands out is how awful and barren the environments are. As seen in the concept art, they WERE trying to depict a harsh, barren wilderness... They had a unique art style in mind. but the ingame version just feels unfinished, or like a beta test environment. All the assets are there, you can cherry pick some pretty shots, it's just arranged amateurishly 99% of the time.
>>732307803Soulless, ugly, barren dogshit that also ruined the awaited gen 4 remakes
>>732307803Better than the heap of shit that is ZA
>>732309050>>732309136The game looking bad is a meme.
>>732307803I'd love to try it out myself but it pretty much never goes on sale, of have to get physical from second hand shop.Hows the emulation? Is it pretty demanding? Are there notable online features you won't want to miss out on?
>>732308618Fair enough. It feels accurate given how some aspects of every game seem more fleshed out and generate legitimate praise, but the overall cut corners/rushed nature of the games bring down the overall experience.
Cool ideas especially in the catching mechanics, but marred by GF's technical bullshittery. Still my favorite Switch era Pokemon.
>>732307803nah it’s the only good sinnoh game
>>732309217Don't take this the wrong way, but due to how insincere people tend to be with these image collages, I have to ask: is this collage from the actual Switch graphics or an emulator doing upscaling? But in any case you didn't address his concern about the assets being arranged amateurishly. You can have pretty gfx and still be placing trees, buildings, etc. in ways that are non-sensical or awkward even for a surreal or fantasy environment. Fantasy still requires some skeletal structure of order to carry it.
>>732307803Wrong image? Legends Arceus is the most liked Pokemon game on the Switch, by quite a lot. Got more hype than some previous games too.
>>732307803What separates this from your average Pokeslop?
>>732309217You didn't read my post bitch. I said the assets are all there but they're arranged poorly. The level design is awful and amateurish. They could use the same assets to make far, far better environments.
>>732309437By having less Pokemon, an empty open world pulled from a 64 game, even more simplified barebones combat, mobile game dex tasks, and a roll button lol. PLA is pure dogshit
>>732308487>in the last 10 years Hi Unovatranny! What makes Palword worse than Gen 5?
>>732307803I didnt play it, but yes
>>732309217meme my ass
>>732309754>That bottom screenshotThat has to be alpha footage.
Setting the second "legends" game in a completely contemporary setting, in the most boring city of the most generic region no less, was a fucking criminal bait and switch. Lmao.Should have kept with the period-setting style to make unique aesthetic and gameplay choices. Pokemon is so fucking dry in it's usual format that doing any kind of alternative take on it feels revolutionary.Imagine some ancient Atlantis shit 3,000 years in ancient Hoenn with the dragon civilization and some kind of cosmic star festival shit involving Rayquaza, jirachi, and deoxys.
>>732307803Better than ZA
I guess the real question is: Was this really that bad?
>>732309905yes
>>732308295>graphics > gameplayPokemon faggots are so pathetic, you can criticize how bad the game looks, especially for a multi billion dollar franchise. Games like botw & totk look infinitely better on the same system and play great. You are the equivalent of a disney adult, a literal man toddler. I urge you to kill yourself.
>>732309905Yes, it was.
>>732309905nopereal time battles are so much better than turn based slop
>>732307803It's not bad at all? It's pretty fun desu and was a huge evolution for the series
>>732307803No. It was flawed but has sovl. The Hokkaido 1800's vibe is immaculate and finally sneaking around in the grass and aiming and throwing pokeballs was a fantasy people had since red and blue.
>>732309437You're in ye olde sinnoh where society isn't developed yet and you're doing pokemon research for the town by catching pokemon and "observing their behavior" in some ways. Pokemon can even attack you directly, since they're not as domesticated yet I guess. In the mean time, there's some minor side quests where you can help distribute pokemon to the town to help it develop (I don't remember if there's any visible development or if it's just adding pokemon to the town though). There's much less of a focus on battling, no gym challenge or anything, but it's still included, even having its own tweaked battle system separate from the main games. It even has my favorite final boss of the series. There's various problems with it, like the pokemon research not having a lot of variety, and pokemon in the overworld don't really have any behaviors beyond aggressive/scared/neutral reactions to the player. They don't interact with each other or the environment. Makes it feel kind of empty. The graphics themselves are also low quality, although the artstyle is appealing.
>>732310312I wish the pokemon actually had some ecology to them instead of just wandering in a predetermined spawn area in groups of 3-5 like mindless MMO mobsBut maybe that's asking for too much!
>>732310374Maybe one day in about 30 years I'll get that pokemon game with Pokemon New Snap tier environments and wild pokemon interaction
>>732309824I don't think they should always have to occur in the distant past but I do think they shouldn't occur in the "current" timeline like ZA did, like make a Legends Kanto and have it take place in early-mid 90s Lost Generation Japan when Red and Green released
>>732310428Imagine if you could influence the ecosystem by catching a lot of predators thus causing more rare herbivores to appear or conversely letting free a bunch of herbivores to boost the spawn rate of a rare predator You can even factor typing into this, maybe you catch a lot of water types and it causes a drought which reduces grass type population and increases rock/fire types
>>732310539But red and green were already set within a vaguely urban 90's Japanese setting, just with sparse inscrutable futuristic technology like matter transfering PC's and knowledge discs, teleporting machines, pokeballs, healing, cloning, etc. They're too retarded to lean into that though and Legends Arceus implying that the VERY FIRST pokemon trainers emerged in the late 1800's is such a bad move
>>732310179Was this the last Pokemon game with actual sovl?
>>732307803It's mediocre. It was fun at first but it felt too grindy for me and not much was added at later levels to keep it fun.
>>732310673>Legends Arceus implying that the VERY FIRST pokemon trainers emerged in the late 1800's is such a bad moveIt doesn't imply that at all, just the semi-recent introduction of the Pokeball. The Diamond and Pearl clans all have people with their own mons and regularly scold you for cheating, it's just hilarious how they never take their questioning of pokeballs seriously and always paint your actions as correct
>>732310087except that's like the only fucking thing it has over Arceus
Home...
>>732309905Oh yeahThe music is goodIt's novel to have real time combat, even if it's just spamming cooldowns.I have nothing else good to say otherwise. I didn't like the overall gameplay, I didn't like the visuals and how the city looks exactly the fucking same no matter where you went, and I could go on for three years talking about how much I hated the story. The plot was so confused and empty
>>732307803Za was better
>>732309365It's emulator upscaled, you can tell from the Dusknoir picture and some of the mountains or objects being sharper than they are in actuality. There's also seemingly no aliasing on the screenshots when even stuff up close is aliased on an actual Switch.
