What were they thinking?

>What were they thinking?
"What if me made a shittier version of Dead Space?"
>>
>>732323624
They weren't, that's why it sucked

>12 hours to beat Dead Space Remake
>19 hours to beat Callisto Protocol+Final Transmission+Riot Mode

For a big expensive EA remake, why is there less content than an indie horror game?
>>
this project is thoroughly bizarre

People are WAY too critical of this game

I find it quite enjoyable, and to this day there's no game with better facial animations

It is a damn shame, however, that the actual ending is locked behind a DLC, I hate that shit
>>
>>732323624
Is this game hard or not? I recently finished DS remake on immortal and it was not hard at all.

If you want to suffer like I did, play it on Hardcore mode your first time. (It's not a permadeath mode, but it'll make you wish for death)
>>
>>732323624
I enjoyed this game well enough and thought it looked pretty good I don't understand the gaming community
>>

>It is a damn shame, however, that the actual ending is locked behind a DLC, I hate that shit

That's fine because they clearly had plans for a Protocol 2, and when that wasn't gonna happen, they made the DLC conclude the series essentially.

What I will say though, that selling the best boss in the whole game as DLC is the bullshit part.
>>
>>732323756
because actual callisto protocol took maybe 10 hours first playthrough, that other shit took like 2 years to come out, who cares?
>>
>>732323756
>an indie horror game?
The Calisto Protocol had a budget of over 100 million dollars.
>>
>>732324408
>that other shit took like 2 years to come out,

And what DLC has Dead Space remake had come out in 3 years?
>>
>>732323756
Easy to do when 10 of those hours are crawling through masked loading screens.
Also, quality> quantity.

>Doesn't know what the tram does

Bruh
>>
>>732323624
whats stopping them from copy and pasting dead space gameplay?

Nothing. They just wanted to do something different. I don't know why people would want it to because you have 3 games + the sloppy shop remake to play of that.
>>
>>732324435
How and why
>>
>>732324943
PUBG money, most of that went into mocap/facial animation
>>
>>732324451
none
but just like I wouldn't go back and play it even if it had shit come out years later, I wouldn't do it for callisto protocol either.
>>
>>732325059
You're the cancer killing good DLCs.
>>
>>732325093
not my problem, they should put out a complete game instead.
>>
>>732323624
>>also make melee combat a core mechanic instead of a desperate last resort
That's the new trend. Look at the SH remake and SHf. They filled the game with combat (that sucks) because retards complained that the old games had bad combat
>>
>>732323624
More like
>make a horror game
>its all in le head
What the fuck were they thinking?
>>
>>732323624
Meh i liked it. Better than most shit that's released now. Story was a bit weak though.
>>
>>732325590
But it's not all in his head
>>
>>732325093
They literally cut off the real ending from the release, sold it to you as DLC, you were rewarded enough to buy it, and now you think OTHERS are the cause of dogshit DLC?

Go take a fistful of quarters, throw them on your nearest highway, and then try to pick them back up again with a blindfold on
>>
>>732325702
>They literally cut off the real ending from the release,

That clearly wasn't the real ending and they had sequels planned.
>>
>>732323624
>>also make melee combat a core mechanic instead of a desperate last resort
Isn't the melee in this just like a fucking quicktime event?
>>
>>732325778
Imagine believing this is any kind of compelling defense for such a dogshit decision.
>>
>>732326075
You're angry over nothing. The ending of Callisto Protocol without DLC IS the ending. The DLC is only the ending because there isn't gonna be a Protocol 2 and I was happy to play it because you can import your save.
>>
>>732326143
I'm angry over the dogshit "all in le head" ending they sold as DLC because it completely destroyed any world they were potentially setting up. It would've been better to leave it hanging than do what they did. Stop lying and defending this retarded shit
>>
>>732326825
I loved how brutal the DLC's ending was that only could've happened with a cancelled series and I don't know why you gotta be so mad about it.
>>
I liked it

Because "all in le head" is the laziest & tropiest cop-out in existence.
>>
>>732323624
Don't forget
>Melee combat boils down to two dodges and then attack if you're prior to the infection being unlocked as a mechanic, 3 dodges and then attack if you're after that.
>Never use heavy attacks because it deals little damage and breaks the queue system they have in place leading to attacks you could have dodged but can't because someone attacked earlier breaking your dodge mechanic.
>Blocking is worse than dodging in every single way as you lose health for no reason doing it.
>The strongest you ever get with melee is like half way through the game and it never gets better, and then the hammer you get in the DLC essentially just turns the robots into the highest tier enemies that you fight in an identical manner to the high tier zombies that now get turned into paste.
>There is never a reason to shoot a gun outside of the instakill or using your shotgun because the damage is abysmally low and you need to conserve ammo for the four Two-Heads that are in the game and can permanently softlock you.
>>
>>732326956
>All of the base game really happened
>DLC is in his head and pretty early on doesn't try to hide the fact that it's in his head

Your fault you somehow got tricked.
>>
>>732327049
You make it sound difficult but I beat it first time on Hardcore mode without doing research.
>>
>>732323756
>Dead space trims the fat and gets to the point
this is a bad thing why?
>>
>>732327096
>You make it sound difficult
What? I make it sound extremely boring, rote, and filled with issues across the board. It's a horrendously made and balanced game. The entire inventory system is the dumbest thing I have ever seen because they flood you with ammo and items to sell in the first half of the game but you can't store anything so you have to continually double back to shops to sell stuff.
