>SXSG was revealed at a State of Play>The game had some scenes of Dark Beginning exclusive to the PS5/4 version>CrossWorlds closed beta test was PS5 exclusive>Most of CrossWorlds DLC reveals have been at the State of PlayWhy is PlayStation suddenly loving Sonic so much? What’s with the big Sony push from SEGA?
>>732325529Sonic usually sells best on Nintendo platforms so it's a play to change that.
Sonic is cool again and Sony is in.
>>732325529It’s funny how everyone likes to associate Sonic with Nintendo so much because of his long history with it (90s rivalry, Olympic Games etc, Smash Bros etc) but I’d argue that Sonic fits PlayStation pretty well, arguably more so.The brand’s signature color is blue like Sonic, the naming is similar (Sony/Sonic) and since the PS1, PS’s idea of combatting Nintendo’s charming family friendly image was to market their brand as being cooler and having edge like SEGA did with the Genesis so it’s really all up in Sonic’s alley, with first party IPs like Ratchet, Sly etc or 3rd party IPs heavily associated with PlayStation like Crash, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear etc, Sonic honestly ain’t that out of place.
SEGA’s pretty much made a marketing deal with Sony to heavily push Sonic games on their platforms.Frankly, I can’t really blame them for this approach because nobody wants to work with Xbox these days and while Sonic sells more on Nintendo, the last time SEGA partnered with Ninty was that retarded 3 game deal in the Wii U which crash and burned so they likely don’t want a repeat of that despite the Switch’s success.Plus, it’s a good way to market family platformer games since the PS5 is lacking those besides Astro Bot and R&C.
